Reminds me of my days as a merchant Captain---sailing a modified frigate, optimized for the storage of large amounts of cargo---in the summer of 1775, trading Tobacco and Spices, between the Colonial-American port of Boston and the English port of Plymouth, across the Northern Atlantic... Such a profitable route was only destined to be revoked from us, it was only a matter of time; and so time proved too that that was the case. The following of that year came the American Revolutionary War, which was declared on Britain by the Continental Congress in 1776. With such tensions rising, any and all trader vessels that belonged to either of those nations was to be robbed the privilege of trading between their ports. Only a few months after the route was closed, and through many stressful negotiations, we managed to locate a route between Jamaica and India that sold Tobacco and Rice at a decent price. Though the new journey established many new, terrifying threats within our life, such as the vast distance between the two ports and an excessive amount of Piracy; but, in the end, we managed to suffer through those hardships, given each other, and the time that it gave us to bond as a whole, singing shanties and various other jolly tunes. Now that I am recalling those days, I realize how much that I took for granted: every drop of the sea that gently caressed my face as the sea spray splashed up from under the bowsprit; the calling and cheering of the Officers and crew whenever we sighted port; the sweet, tangy scent of Ginger and Nutmeg rising up from the hold each and every morning; the steady flapping of the canvas sails as they billowed in the heavy winds; and the many drops of sweat and tears that ran ever-so gallantly off of our faces as we weighed the anchour and heaved the bracing lines. Such days that I very much wish to return to...

Because most if all of the music from spongebob are sea shanties and inspired from sea shanties
@leethal50323 жыл бұрын
My personal top 3 out out these 10 Shanties in highest to lowest order are: 1) 'Leave Her Johnny' - this shanty is traditionally sung on the last day of a voyage before they disembark, referring to the ship as 'her' (ships were referred to with feminine pronouns in Western English culture), and 'Johnny' being the name 'John Doe' is typically referred to a hypothetical man. It's an extremely deep and emotional song with a perfect mix of happiness and sadness, and it gave me the chills when I first listened to it. It can also be heard in Assissins Creed 4: Black Flag! 2) 'Spanish Ladies' - being one of the oldest sea Shanties dating back to the late 18th century, is an established British navy song believed to be inspired by the Royal Navy aiding Spain's resistance to France during the War of the First Coalition. The song describes their departure from Spain to the Downs, and the troops departure from their Spanish wives which they managed to marry during their expedition. It's meant to sound like a carefree drinking/rum song, but I can hear a tinge of sadness in there too. 3) 'Rolling Down To Old Maui' - this song originated in the 19th century, and is a whaling song that refers to sailors hunting Kamchatka bowhead and sperm whales near Maui in the Hawaiian Islands where the whales were known to gather at certain times of the year. This song is also heard in an Assassin's Creed game, 'Rogue'. There's obviously more info on these songs which I'd encourage you to research! It's actually very interesting.

You know, these songs and stories make you realize that we where born in a time with so many restrictions and all the exploration done for our planet. We where born to late to explore Earth, and too early to explore the universe. Thinking about that makes me sad.

@Nimbo Stratus Yea, and our savior is Elon Musk, who contacted aliens and that's where most of his tech comes from. lol. But on another note, I guess your right.
@zardecil94192 жыл бұрын
I like to think the exploration has just gotten a bit more abstract. We may not have tons of unknown physical things that we can explore, but we have plenty of unknowns. Any musician writing a song is exploring which notes go together. Any storywriter sets up a world's systems, and then is simply the one exploring the world, writing the story he sees along the way. The artist is never certain of what their painting will end up looking like, but they go and find out anyway, one stroke at a time. Curiosity is about the act of finding the next. All you gotta do is pick a space to look. Whether that's physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual.
