You should do a video on Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz! That'd be interesting.

Fun vídeo! But I would like to clarify that in Spain we do repeat a sentence twice when we want to show something isn’t a big deal. For example, you can say something like, “si la cago, pues la cague” o “si no vamos, no vamos” así que “y si cometo errores pues cometo errores” esta bien dicho, it’s coloquial but correct

This former Spanish teachers says his Spanish is reasonably good. If he lacks anything, then it's only a bit of colloquialism. I don't begin to revolt until I hear certain politicians attempt to speak Spanish, and pretend to be fluent. A particular Texan comes to mind.
@msmendes2142 жыл бұрын
Meh, a lot of us that aren't fully fluent, but perhaps conversational, should still do our best to speak Spanish as often as impossible esp if it's an attempt to be inclusive. A lot of Spanish speakers in Texas have representatives that don't even attempt to try to understand them. So bravo for the effort!

@@msmendes214 - There's NO need for any politician to attempt to speak Spanish for those who they represent when they already speak English, and when the official language in the USA is English. Speaking a foreign language as an Anglo-Saxon in the USA is not something which is going to happen any day soon for the vast majority of us. For one thing, the heartland of America has very few people whose native language is not English. That is true mostly just in the biggest cities and states. And for those whom that happens to be true, they should make every effort to assimilate themselves into the culture by speaking English in situations when they are in a minority of non-native English speakers. Whatever happened to the "melting pot" idea? If you're young, then you have NO clue what I'm talking about. The problem is that in most areas in the world where Americans might want to escape this "awful USA" - the people in those nations are already fluent in English, and wish to speak English with such people rather than speaking their native language.

@@scotthullinger4684 interesting commentary on a channel literally dedicated to Spanish learning for English speakers. Texas has a HUGE Spanish speaking community & the "America is a melting pot" theory has long been abandoned in favor of the "Salad Bowl" descriptive of America-where we celebrate our diversity, including language! Especially Spanish which has 471 million native speakers, with 13% of Americans speaking Spanish at home.

@@msmendes214 - Yes, this is how Leftist change history, by giving brand new names for things which have existed for decades, such as the melting pot / salad bowl. Virtually the same old thing. But one of them emphasizes unity, whereas the other very clearly suggests quite the opposite of unity. My ancestors are German and Scandinavian. But I don't call myself a German American, or a Scandinavian American. But I just call myself an American, which is what all Americans should do.
@nicn97762 жыл бұрын
@@scotthullinger4684 No, English is not the official language of the USA. You say you're old so you should know that!
