Hey Paul love your videos! Hey so In this video you mention phones. Do native speakers call their cell phones Telefono or do they usually call it celular? Or is that an area to area basis?
@carloscauich25786 жыл бұрын
Lindsey Gawlik telefono is for telephone, celular is for cell phone in México, but like in Spain they say movil for cell phone
@carlosvenegas21866 жыл бұрын
hola, aquí en Chile decimos "celular" para referirnos al cell phone.

hi this is so helpful can you go a little faster in speaking so we can get used a little like to understand thank you very much this was the channel i am searching for since too long thankssss
@danielsmith81717 жыл бұрын
no, no speed comes with repetition and if you can say it quickly, you'll understand when they speak it normally.. lol
@howellomaha7 жыл бұрын
Nooo... the speed of the videos is great; he focuses on making sure we learn correct pronunciation. We can listen to the radio/youtube videos if we want to listen to someone speaking quickly. You could also go into your setting and kick the speed up a notch or two if you want faster.

Hi there. Had the same issue. He's legit and I am conversationally fluent after 16 months roughly. You need to apply his teaching to real chats for memorization. Finally don't stray from his method much. Your first goal is conversations that's the focus not watching 2 hour films about Sci fi in Spanish (which may be fun and a bit useful but too time consuming).

I've never heard olvidar used without the reflexive pronoun. Is this a regional thing?
@carlosvenegas21866 жыл бұрын
hola, El verbo olvidar tiene una conjugación verbal regular y es pronominal, es decir que se puede conjugar de manera reflexiva como olvidarme, olvidarte, olvidarse, olvidarnos, olvidaros y olvidarse.
@carlosvenegas21866 жыл бұрын
El contexto en el minuto 5:02 indica un accidente mas que una acción voluntaria, "olvidé mis lentes otra vez" , también podrías decir "me olvidé de mis lentes otra vez".

@demetriusblackwell69975 жыл бұрын
what's the difference between "se me olvidó" and "olvidé"
@Clemenxa5 жыл бұрын
This is late but, "se me olvidó" is a way of putting the blame on the object, it's like "it forgot itself on me". Olvidó being past preterite for he/she/you(formal)/it. On the other hand "olvidé" is the past preterite yo form, so olvidé literally means I forgot.

But soy is used when something is fixed/eternal right? As opposed to estoy when something is #temporary. Sooo: why say 'soy un idiota'?

Maybe because idiota is a reference to ones character. Characteristic traits take on soy and not estoy.

Which Spanish is it Mexican ?? Or Castilian Spanish?
@quantumgirl651 Жыл бұрын
Listening to Paul for some time, i understand that he is teaching not Mexican spanish, but 'spanish' spanish, even though he lives in Mexico! I did wonder why that was, as im learning Mexican spanish too, so i always adjust the diffferent pronunciations for mexico, but i guess he is is from spain so thats why he knows castilian spanish best.
