Spark - An Indoor Percussion Concept
This is copyrighted asf so I can't sell this show to anyone. Just a creative project for myself.
Spark is a show about the growth and transformation of a group. It takes us on a journey through excitement, self-doubt, vulnerability, and ultimately leads to a powerful moment of self-realization-all expressed through music.
Movement 1 begins with a bold, energetic burst of confidence, representing the initial spark of excitement behind starting a brand-new program. John Mackey’s Kingfishers Catch Fire II captures the feeling of taking flight for the first time, full of hope and potential, as the group boldly steps into the competitive arena.
Movement 2 represents our self-doubt. After our initial competition, we retract into ourselves, doubting our performance and questioning our validity as a program when comparing ourselves to other lines. The music grows more introspective, reflecting the internal struggle and vulnerability we face as we grapple with uncertainty.
Movement 3 begins with a feature from each drumline subsection, as each "spark" builds upon the others, igniting the flame that represents our collective strength. DJO's End of Beginning serves as a metaphor for renewal and trust, with its central message, "Just trust me, you'll be fine." This, interwoven with the triumphant finale of Kingfishers Catch Fire, symbolizes the group's ultimate realization of their potential. Together, these elements show how individual sparks unite to create a powerful flame, driving us forward with confidence and pride.
