Spark AR: Instagram Filters - “Hole in the head” with Occlusion

In this video, I show you how I used a technique called “Occlusion” to create a hole in my head for a 3D model to sit inside of. This example has an effect I haven't released yet!

can you help on making a tutorial on how to be able to pt your hand in front of your face with a 3d model helmet ? also how do you get the eyes and mouth to move with your 3d model ?

I must thank you for your useful videos. As I tried to do the same in the latest update (Version: 83.0.0.16.237) we need an extra step which is to mark the "Alpha Test" for the Occlusion material. feel free to correct me if I'm missing something.

don't know if its just me but here in august 2019 this doesnt work for me, anything behind a transparent texture just shows the camera footage :S

Try checking the 'Alpha Test' box. That worked for me.

How are you live feeding your camera to SparkAR like that? Or was it prerecorded?

Any trick to lining up the dot or the scale of said occulusion? For a different shape you would just make a 2d version of the alpha?

I'm creating a 'lava' crack in the floor and just had to eye ball it. Tried to be precise but too many apps (illustrator, c4d, spark) all with different measurment systems.

Hi, how can I do fix a 3d object in a in the precise point of the face, example on the chin avoid that when the mouth opens the object remains still??

I spent a lot of time trying to reproduce this in the latest v69. I got an older version and it works instantly. Have they removed it or made occlusion work another way.

@@joseruano3695 I just can't seem to get this to work with a texture / alpha like Luke has done. I can do it with a 3D object like a false head of face to say put the user inside a hat but not this.

Awesome! How can you make the face mesh be in front of the actual camera plane? Mine just stand behind and it clips when it crosses it. If I move the 3D Object with the move tool it just doesn't fit the face perspective. Thanks!
