The fact that they managed to deliver the game experience, meta diversity, and sheer amount of possibilities that they did with a single set, is nothing short of a triumph in game design. *claps*

Yeah but worth mentionning that they probably didn't expect the set 1 meta to be so diverse. They mentionned in an interview that the reason why they won't be any Official competitive tournanement in set 1 is because the set 1 meta was not going to be diverse enough. So yeah set 1 meta could be a happy accident.

@@Thorrk_THT Thanks for your videos and comments! I wouldn't say this meta is a "happy accident" at all; we put a lot of time and effort into making set 1 the best we could and are very pleased with how it's been received. There are more reasons why no official tournaments are taking place in set 1 (which I won't go into here). Thanks again for your support!

@@jeremyz1461 Hi Jeremy, I am sure there are other reasons but I remember one of the SWU designers saying in an interview something along the lines of "a competitive meta with set 1 only, would not be very interesting" and that was in the context of a question about why the competitive OP doesn't start with set 1, but maybe I misinterpreted. In my book it's not a negative thing at all, I think it's awesome when a game is designed in such way that it allows players to go beyond what the designers intended (for better or worse), it shows real depth when a game can evolve organically, make players feel more involve. Even if that means potential bans down the line, I love crazy combos that break the rules and make the game more interesting. Regardless, congratulations on this first set, Spark of Rebellion is the most balanced first set I ever seen in a card game (and I played a few). It's very well-designed and we all know how hard it is to nail a first set right without a reference point. Thank you so much and I am glad you liked the content.

Love the summary of this. I am also of the opinion that there may still be some undiscovered meta decks. I think Tarkin is starting to creep in and some other color combos could still appear and make a splash. This is a really well done game and finding a way to compete against the field is very hard.

Maybe, I am not a big Tarkin believer but that would be great. As far as leader is concerned my money would be on Thrawn.

From my POV Sabine yellow is tier 1.5 i saw a lot more of them than Sabine green in stores showdown

Some hasty people were suggesting that the meta was solved after the Twickenham tournament. Sure looks a bit daft to say now 😅

The result of Twickenham was not even representative of what the meta was before release.

Hey man, really love your videos, would you be interested in making an off-meta overview? I've been loving playing stuff like IG-88, Jyn and other leaders, which are not really regarded as good. Keep up the good content :D
@Thorrk_THT
@Thorrk_THT 3 ай бұрын
I was thinking of going over the best IG-88, Hera, and Jyn decks but tbh the meta is so diverse there is already a lot going on with what is competitive. As you know I like to make very in-depth videos on decks that I playtested thoroughly. Ultimately this channel is about competitive Star Wars ultimited so with my tight schedule I am afraid I can't spend that much time working on leaders that are ultimately not competitive (in my opinion).

@@Thorrk_THT yeah fair point :D kinda sad for these decks, since they are not all that bad, but they dont really have those OP tools, which most of the meta decks have one or 2 themselves

Sabine green seems to be basically dead as a serious list, from what I can tell

Perhaps in your area, it isn’t seeing a lot of play, but I have been playing it myself the since the start, and it has been performing quite well against all matchups, sans Boba green.

Sabine yellow tier 2? I’m pretty sure some of the top testing servers are saying green Sabine might not even be meta anymore due to the blue boba list completely shutting it out. Yellow Sabine is now the premier aggro deck.
@Thorrk_THT
@Thorrk_THT 3 ай бұрын
Not sure how is the opinion of "top testing servers" any relevant since as I said in the video tier classification is not a mark of power level but an indicator of popularity in tournament. And until proven otherwise Sabine green remains significantly more popular than yellow, at least from what I am seeing. So in others terms by classifying Sabine Green tier 1 and Sabine Yellow tier 2, all I am saying is that Sabine Green is more popular therefore you should focus your attention and playtesting against it. This might not be true in your area and that's exactly why I encouraged people in the video to make their own meta map that is more accurate to their local area.

if only the meta was this simple. honestly and truely it’s just not lol. there are easily 25 more decks included and most often it’s very much so not rock paper scissors for these leaders.
@Thorrk_THT
@Thorrk_THT 3 ай бұрын
Obviously, it's a simplification, and as a player, you need to be able to simplify things to some extent. The notion of "meta" is a simplification by itself and by definition, it does not take into account every deck that you'll be facing in a tournament. Trying to prepare against everything under the sun is unreasonable and your efforts are much better spent trying to know very well how to play against the most popular ones.
@savagedragn

The idea is that off meta decks are not going to be tuned well enough to win well against the known meta. Any off meta deck that plays well into the current meta is generally “undiscovered”.

@@Thorrk_THT Ya I mean I think there is like several more categories on the control side that are not being accounted for; including what is going on in some of those mill decks, there are like 5 different levels and sub categories inside the mill portion of control alone.. you have differing levels of insanity and mill protection/attack that each level on its own makes you more and more valnerable to sabine.. but additionally really what im saying here is that some leaders entirely counter act sabine and can win at easily a 70% ratio despite the fact they are supposed to be weak to her. I think in general the idea of 5 categories is basically what im arguing about; i think there are closer to 9 or more and its not a wheel at all, its far more complex then this.
@LanceBryantGrigg

@@savagedragn This is false based on my learnings. The more you try to counter the meta the more the off meta decks wreck you..
