Only thing I feel you missed or failed to mention is applying anti seize lube to the threads of the spark plugs so that they are easily removed next time you do a replacement for your plugs. 👍🏼

Remember that wet torque values are about 30% less than dry or you could strip the spark plug holes.

@@5jjt what does that have to do with the price of rice in China? Not being sarcastic just saying how does that affect what I said about anti seize lube?

@richroc7 if you use the same torque you run risk of breaking the plugs. Also many plugs come with an anti seize material on them.

@@esiljander2362 I didn’t mention anything about the torque and most spark plugs do not come with anti seize lube on them you have to buy it separately and apply it yourself otherwise it would dry up if not sealed properly.

@@richroc7 right about torque but a good tip, not well known you can't use same torque when using anti seize. NGK says this "NGK spark plugs feature trivalent plating. This silver or chrome-colored finish on the threads is designed to provide corrosion resistance against moisture and chemicals. The coating also acts as a release agent during spark plug removal. NGK spark plugs are installed at the factory dry, without lubrication or anti-seize. Anti-seize can act as a lubricant, altering torque values up to 20 percent, increasing the risk of spark plug thread breakage and/or metal shell stretch. Thread breakage can sometimes involve removing the cylinder head for repair. Metal shell stretch changes the heat rating of the spark plug and can result in serious engine damage caused by pre-ignition. Do not use anti-seize or lubricant on NGK spark plugs. It is completely unnecessary and can be detrimental."

My 07 camry spark plug has a very tiny bit of oil on the plug thread only, not on whole plug. Is it something normal ? Please reply. Thanks

There really shouldn't be any oil there. I would keep an eye on it and if it gets worse you may have a leak. I am not familiar with the camry but off the top of my head it could be a small leak in the valve cover.

i dont get it.... it looks like the grease will DEFINITELY get on the metal part of the spark plug the way you put it on the boot there....
@timnowlin4443
@timnowlin4443 3 жыл бұрын
No, as long as its just a skim coating it will not transfer to the contact if I were to fill the boot end then yes it would.

You could fill the whole boot up and it wouldn't make a negative difference. It's an insulator against air and moisture, it doesn't effect metal on metal electric flow

@nomenclature9607 nope. Look at some actual test, it's literally made for this. It blocks out air and moisture, it doesn't prevent metal on metal contact

I put it on my battery terminals, spark plug boots and every electrical harness I have..light plug, maf sensor plug..everything and it's had no negative effects, just zero corrosion, build-up or water getting in

@@danielmiller3967that’s what I was told also but most people say not to apply too much to the boot or connectors. I’m new at this dielectric grease stuff so I’m not an expert, just learning. 👊🏼
