Spark Plug Tester

I use the one with the clear plastic cover that flips up. I use it all the time for my small engine work, it helps me find bad plugs, and bad isolators inside the plug, if the plug shorts to the brass incert, then the porcelain is cracked inside which you can not see, it paid for itself in about 1 month in my line of work,handy little tool.

This is a tricky way for testing, you must test them inside a pressure chamber, that good spark may short under 10 bar pressure.

Yeah it's a fairly basic tester but it helped me find two bad spark plugs on my 307 :)

What a great little Diagnostic Tool.These type of things never seem to come up up for sale on Amazon or ebay.Hooray fort the slow Boat from China! BTW was it useful to you on the Peugeot?Thanks for sharing.

Yeah it's great but you don't want to be in a hurry for something when you order it. At the time I ordered this I hadn't even heard of the Peugeot lol :). The spark plugs were changed recently but I'll probably renew them anyway. When I do, I'll test the old ones on this tool just to see what they're like.

I order one today from eBay for $17 something +tax total $20 slow boat from China.If you’re buying it from Amazon or even at Walmart are at $25 bucks and up.This Spark plugs tester is very useful for testing those old and use spark plugs to see if they have enough continues sparks to uses maybe to another 40-50 thousands miles or even mores.

@@screwsnutsandbolts how do you determine if you are getting the right amount of spark from your plug using this? I have an 85' 25HP Johnson outboard that I'm wanting to test the spark from my plugs on. This looks like a great tool. My motor is a pull start. So if I pull the plugs and use this type of tester, how do I determine that the plug is working properly, versus its time to replace?

@@shanepeter1616 This is more of a basic tester to see if a plug is sparking and also comparing one spark plug against another. It doesn't really tell you how good the spark actually is.

Will this work on the thinner vehicle sparks. Like a Nissan v6 plugs?

It should work with the thinner spark plugs. It's the older thicker ones that won't fit

What is the meaning of 1000, 2000, or 6000bits? Why is it necessary to turn it to 6000bits? What is the actual voltage that the spark coil to uplift the DC voyage from 12v to the necessary voltage to ignite the engine?

Yao Shing Lee To see if those continues spark plugs sparking of the electrolyte arcs lightning can arcs evenly for the gasoline fuel mixers and working rights.So the car pistons don’t have more gasoline carbons deposits or worn out those pistons rings for to quickly turn your car engine into burning to much gas tripping many of those engine checking light codes or worse ruin your engine turn it into a garbage engine.The Numbers on the dial nob like 600 and going up are simulations for like you’re stepping down the gas paddle for more gasolines going into the fuel injector part unit like for spraying more fuel into the car pistons shafts inside those those cylinders walls igniting of those gasoline’s.

would be good if you tested it with real ignition coil and 14 volt power let's see how intense the spark in real application..if you are using home electricity it could go as much as you want...unreal
