You might remember our video series “According to Pete” - the series where our Director of Engineering Pete Dokter tackles common engineering and electronics topics. The last episode we filmed was almost a year ago! Pete had a lot on his plate, so we suspended filming for a while - we always hoped we could bring it back someday, but we had to wait for the right time. Well, the time is right and today we are excited to announce that “According to Pete” is officially back!
In today’s episode, Pete is diving into the world of differential pairs. What does that mean? Watch the video, wouldya?!

Glad you're back Pete! Would love to see some stuff on constant current sources. Their theory of operation, how to design and build them, and their applications. Thanks!

So glad you're doing these again. Would like to see some more practical uses of the things you talk about. Or even just bread boarding and results on a scope. Keep it up!

Please continue with this. It's great to have a resource to remind me of some of these things, as well as learn some more new stuff. I just wanted to make sure you knew that some poor soul in Bumfuck, OK appreciates your work.

So glad you are doing these videos again Pete! As for feedback, you didn't seem as comfortable/relaxed in this one as you did in previous videos. Don't worry about the haters, your videos are awesome and I like that you talk about how circuits actually work (or don't work) when you test them, not just theory. Hope to see circuits built on the breadboard again, even though you hate breadboards. For future videos, how about discussing some of the circuit building blocks you use when designing Sparkfun products. It would be cool to hear the inside scoop on some of your schematics/layouts. Thanks.

I'm glad to see you're back. You're the main reason I keep this channel on my Sub list. And yes, we know you hate breadboards, but I know a lot of us wanna see these things built and put into action!

Welcome back! What I didn't get is why you got gains closer to the calculated values once you brought down the current from your previous 10mA in the tail to around 2mA based on the examples you saw. Also, video request! Basics of RF ckts/antenna design while making PCBs :)

hey Pete, it's great that you are back! :) I have a suggestion for a future show, you could talk about choosing heatsinks for power transistors and mosfets!

Excellent and informative! I really enjoyed! On a related topic, how does this circuit compare to the balanced feed used in high end microphones?

"Hey man nice to see you again!" I'd love to see explanations for all the weird electrical terms that everyone just takes for granted. Like Vcc/Vss/Vdd, and why Drain is where I think Source should be, etc, etc. p.s. Is that a 'high quality' Sansui speaker/whiteboard stand your using there?
