Yeah I have noticed too some bugs in the game, torpedo tubes not firing even when side by side, the tube pointing at the enemy (650m away). formation AI going absolutely nuts. The gun pen chance seems to be more of a dice roll than actual numbers game, 100% hit chance and missing from a kilometer away. AI turning circle seems to be between 5 and 20 meters not 500. Enemy can see me with their inferior tech (no radar or lvl 1) against my lvl 2 radar, most modern CL for that year. Performance issues, game lags or crashes and after a 15 or more years they stop making ships completely. ship is half sunk and it can still shoot from underwater. Game decided to make me have a peace without a pop up or anything. The brits making 300+ ships and sending a fleet of over 200 right next to my ports. That match almost made my computer melt. This game is like my ex. I love it but it has so many issues.

I think the hit chance might be more of a probability of at least one shell out of all guns hitting the target, or at least it looks like it, but I can't test it

@@snailboi6902 it does state per salvo values as well as per gun values. Im also pretty sure the % chance to get within a set distance of the ship not hit it, even though the ship does fill up a good amount of that assumed circle of hit % area.

When you were looking at the light cruiser pen chance the reason the game reported 32% chance to pen was because if you hit the deck at that range it would bounce off due to the angle. So the game is right its just not including the belt/deck percent chance in the calculation. Later on the fore belt partial you got is apparently a known bug (I've come across it as well) where close range belt pen (especially against cruisers) is not working correctly. I suspect the game is going 'yes you pen that so easily' it ends up going right around to a negative number. Supposedly the 1.08 hotfix today (14 July) will fix it!

The biggest issue with pen seems to be the weird deck pens at close ranges though. As can also be seen in this video.

The quad secondaries tech appears for all nations but only actually works for the French and presumably the Russians when they're added. Its the same throughout the tech trees with things like some battlecruiser techs giving nothing to some nations and unlocking hulls for others.

When you are 45 deg off your targets stern you are 45 degrees off the main belt, the majority of the target area, lowering your pen chance/damage by, at a guess, half at least.

Just listened to admirals log and it has more potential for a movie than a lot of modern movies. The antics, sabotage, maybe the theft of a potential enemies admirals car. Maybe a stolen penguin from a Zoo (has happened but that was a drunk guy). The rising tensions between nations would be intense.

I’ve been playing around with semi armor piercing and I have to say I see why it’s hard to use but found it works best on high caliber guns, I’m using it in 20” guns to deck pen battleships from 30-45 km away.

@stealth17 you need to read the pen calculator carefully it say HE-AP meaning for example at 39:24 your He rounds have 12.1" of pen at 7,500 meters your AP rounds 34" inches of pen. thats what the dash means between the two sets of numbers

That partially answers my question on how the Kaiser's would fair solo. Not a true DD or CL swarm, my last campaign I saw fleets of 30+ DD's against single or dual ships, but still heavily out numbered. But I suppose it did well enough for the Budget BB.

Hey Stealth, you should try and get away from casemates as soon as possible. Their weight to barrel ratio is insane when compared to regular secondaries. I think a single barrel casemate is heavier than a triple barrel turret of the same size.

What I have noticed is that the low pen chance is because the shell hitting the deck from the side which means it is trying to pell the whole armored platform. It is realistic to some extend i guess but it is definitely annoying.

Hi there, Inspired by your series I also started 2 new campaigns (German and Brits) both in 1890. I both I encountered the bug that fleets dont generate tension (the reason I dismissed my british campaign). So I look on the steam page and it seems to be a new "feature". The campaigns also got realy boring after two main engagements with the French as Germany (6 BB of mine vs. ~ 160 of theirs and a second with almost the same numbers again; in the first I sunk like 122 of them and lost 3 BBs, science for the win xD) because the AI does not know how to produce more manpower and cant produce more ships (also does not update their ships so they are easy pickings). I managed to get in a new war with the French (after the first peace treaty) but I´m stuck in it because I cant destroy more ships cause the french dont have any and I cant port raid for some reason. So I also dismissed this campaign and hope/wait for some desperately needed fixes befor starting a new one. I hope that you don´t encounter the same problems and that we get a nice long campaign to follow you through (but I kind of doubt it). Nonetheless I like your wild designs and enjoy watching your videos! :D

it's getting super annoying, i have a 1060 GTX which i have been told is more then enough, yet it takes forever to load this stupid game, i used to love it, but now my love for it is dying fast, i hope the devs can fix this problem

@@THEARDUOUSMOTH It depends how they are doing the calculations, something like this would probably be better on the cpu than the gpu (gpu is better for repeated calculations like graphics, while the cpu is more general) but I have a fairly high end ryzen 7 cpu and an older gtx 970 gpu and am getting the same load time issues. It also doesnt look like it's a drive issue since I've got a m.2 ssd (high speed). Basically they need to optimize the loading code in some way that will only be apparent to those that can see the code (divide it b/n cpu/gpu, multithread it, eliminate redundant calculations, remove wait calls...). In the meantime I'm sticking to the Naval Academy

Should have been using AP regardless at close range against the heavy cruiser, because that 50% includes the deck which you'll not be likely to hit anyways. So it's pretty much 100% pen flat on against the belt.

I do wonder if they have mechanics in the game related to aiming at points on a ship? As pointed out you hit their fore belt multiple times firing in the rear of the ship, and they from close range a smaller ship was hitting your deck somehow. It's almost as if the point of the ship hit is purely random with no consideration for ship size or angle.

I had a bug sort of like how France declared war and it showed UK as against the Austro-Hungarians. Except with me I had beaten the French and was allied with Austria and Italy until said beating when they joined the Germans and declared war on me, curious thing is that only the Germanys ships were red where as the others were white obviously meaning they weren’t at war but could still attack.

I have a theory for when you hit that cruiser on the fore belt. The shell was coming in with a high angle of attack and at the same moment the front of the ship had been thrown in the air by a wave, since that hull type has a bit of a "teardrop"? Shape where the bottom is wider than the top the shell hit the widening hull of the ship at the front and the game registered it as fore belt pen. That or german dark magic
