Have you tried shaking the coated cones in a sandwich bag to get better coverage and cleaner counter.

Thanks so much for this- I didn't bleach my cones as they were already pale- however when I baked them for less than 10 minutes at 200C They turned really dark brown. Is this normal? Thanks x
