My mom just told me that back in the 60s she had a group of friends in Santa Monica who had a band that would set up in her living room and practice , her dad would get pissed and chase them out 😂 I asked what the name of the band was, she said “the sparks, and they made it big everywhere except the US” low and behold I look them up and they are real. Hahaha this is crazy.

@@mohamadmahmoud6926 while I usually keep in mind de gustibis or there is no arguing in matters of taste it is still rude and bad etiquette if you have the privilege to attend Cannes and then troll. If you're going to criticize it then say why in your opinion you don't like it. None of us have a frame of reference or reason to listen or care otherwise. Just having been to Cannes doesn't make you a great critic with worthy opinions. Plenty of rich people are ignorant as we can all see as are unfortunately many film makers, so attending Cannes alone is not much of a big deal. Nor is it interesting. It would be interesting to hear why you thought only the one movie was of value.
@mohamadmahmoud69263 жыл бұрын
@@kellymathews6615 I’m going to troll because of all the things Cannes did this year I disagree with. The lineup was incredibly safe, weak and predictable and the palm d’or went to one of the worst films I saw in the competition: titane. Titane is meaningless shock value crap. As for Annette, the pacing is too long, the music is awful (the spark brothers are a terrible band and I knew their music would be dreadful), the dialogue was laughably bad and the film seemed to want to invoke feelings of happiness, regret and sadness but all I felt was contempt and boredom. Adam driver gives his most lifeless performance to date and sings as if he’s getting a root canal. It isn’t pleasant to listen to. It was a pretentious bore overall. Leos carax is a hack

I didn't know about Sparks until Edgar Wright tweeted out Propaganda a couple years back. Suddenly I start seeing them and their influence everywhere. Dozens of bands across the decades have covered their songs. They've been cited as inspirations for many more. Filmmakers, musicians, etc. How does such an incredible group go so overlooked in popular culture? It's baffling. Russ and Ron have become two of my all time favorites.
@paulh29812 жыл бұрын
There's another part to my astonishment. Think of all of your favorite musicians. How many of them were putting out epic NEW music in their 70s? Oh, a lot of them play and sing as well if not better, but most songwriters don't have nearly as much success writing music after their 20s or 30s. This is one of the best songs I've heard.

I can add to that; knowledge about the human mind. I don't believe anybody has made such profound studies in how we react and act in circumstances we either forgotten we been through or never thought was going to happen. All the, whether we want to admit it or not, silly thoughts that pop up in the least expected situation. The unpredictable things we do, when life pushes us into uncomfortable situations. Ron must have been living as long as Yoda, which could explain more about him than his ability to write spot on lyrics, but I think Russell, the always young one, has been living that long too. They are a unit. Edgar Wright's words, that he during the years he has known the brothers and made the documentary, met only Russell twice, but never Ron without Russell speaks for that. Two remarkable men, by birth given a rare combination of mature souls and childish hearts! 😇💖💖💖💖
