Mike and Sean! Viewing this video has been a wonderful experience! I like Mike's "Rules of Planet Earth!" It makes sense that if we use a light grip on the handle this produces a heavy feel to the clubhead. Then, if we use gravity to bring the club down with our swing and the clubhead "brushes" the grass, a great shot should be the result. Easy and Simple as that!! Well Done Gentlemen!

I am fascinated by your instruction that is so calm and easy to listen to. I have now watched a number of your videos, and you have answered questions that I have been searching for answers to for a long time. This morning I unsubscribed to all other online tutors, with exception of Julian Mellor who is also trying to do his best to help seniors. I think you compliment each other very well. It would seem that the majority of other online instructors are basing their instruction on the belief we are are all young, very fit with desires to be like a professional. Full marks to you all for continuing with Brian's philosophy. I wish all of you well, and I look forward to seeing and hearing more of your excellent instruction. I would encourage anyone to follow you gentlemen.

Found your channel this morning. Total heresy - but I love it. Have seen several videos now and find your philosophy for senior golfs spot-on. Worked with 2 pros over last couple years, but never got your insight about swing speed / tempo. I'm willing to give up a little distance for solid contact. However, hitting the middle of the club face more often should result in superior results without loss of length. This is my first time commenting on a video, but couldn't contain myself. I will keep watching and report results.

Welcome aboard William! We love to challenge the status quo and ingrained beliefs, but only to liberate the natural golfer inside. So pleased that you have found our channel and you are enjoying it enough to write your first comment. You should find with a little practice no loss in distance and usually a decent gain! It can be a hard concept to understand - less effort is surely less powerful?! We prefer effortless power vs powerless effort.

Very informative as always gentlemen. I changed my clubs many years ago to Cleveland high bores which are basically a set of hybrids throughout the whole set as I found the three and four irons difficult to use as I got older, never looked back. The only thing I remember being a big change was the nine and pitching wedge being a bit light but you learn to adapt after a bit of practice.

I always have trouble hitting my irons off the ground. 4 out of 5 shots I hit fat. Off the tee I’m pretty good. I feel like I’m moving my weight forward but I still hit fat. My short game is good ( thanks to all of you ) but my second and third shots are a sore spot for me. So I am going to practice what I saw on this video. Hopefully it will make a difference., Thanks again for all the great info!

You are not alone Kenneth. Its great to hear you are finding success off the tee and with your short game. Practice what Mike recommends in this video and try hitting shots with your eyes closed to become even more club head aware. Good luck and let us know how you get on 👍

Great to hear Patrick! The club should be allowed to move where it is most natural through out the swing. The swing is a motion, don't break it into parts.

Great video about feeling weight. If I hold the club 2 on 10 it tends to twist at impact. I hold the club firmly and feel the weight of the arm club unit.
@Easiestswing
@Easiestswing Жыл бұрын
Thanks Mohanjit. The goal is to have the lightest grip possible, where the club doesn't twist at impact. Perhaps thats at 3 for you? However, it doesn't want to be described as firm. Firm is a close relation to tense. Hope this helps!

Great video. Am I right in saying with this swing method you don’t focus on shaft lean but use gravity to let the club fall and the club is almost vertical at impact?
@Easiestswing
@Easiestswing Жыл бұрын
Thanks Mahesh! With an iron swing the shaft will lean slightly forward by design. It is not the focus to strike the ball with shaft lean, this will happen anyway. You are increasing your awareness of the club head and using gravity to return it through the ball. It was Wild Bill Melhorne that said "if you don't interfere with the swinging of the club, every ball will go straight"
@maheshtailor2825
@maheshtailor2825 Жыл бұрын
@@Easiestswing That makes sense. So letting the club do its thing while swinging freely without thoughts of artificially “compressing” the ball. That is such a relief. Thank you.

Does the same principle of gravity apply to the driver. In other words instead of going for a lightweight shaft should we be using a regular or stiff shaft instead of a lightweight one?
@Easiestswing
@Easiestswing Жыл бұрын
Yes the same principles apply to the driver, but it doesn't necessarily mean needing a heavier driver setup. Personal preference and ability also plays a role here. Drivers tend to be lighter to help increase clubhead speed. A heavier driver might suit some players, but prevent others from accessing easy clubhead speed. Also the lighter the shaft, the more awareness of the clubhead you should feel. A stiffer shaft is only helpful if you produce sufficient clubhead speed, if not it will reduce it.

hi guys, most people would say that a good golfer hits the ball then takes a divot in front of the ball. are you saying that just skiming the ground gives you a better chance of hitting a fairly good shot rather than trying to hit the perfecct shot like a pro golfer
@philipsparks8315
@philipsparks8315 Жыл бұрын
That’s a great question and thanks for asking! I would say that if a club players “intention” is to brush the grass rather than to take a divot they will be more successful more often. However, there are a number of factors to consider 1) you are more likely to take a larger divot with short irons due to ball position, steeper angle of attack and the sharper leading edge and 2) grass type and moisture levels. ie. Sandy soil and dry conditions with fescue and bent grasses on a links course middle of summer = very small divots whereas coarser grasses in wet or winter conditions you are likely to take larger divots. This gives just a couple of examples of the variables but still if we go back to the players’ intention, if you bruise the grass on most shots you will likely be more successful on most occasions. I played with Barry Lane once (RIP Barry) and I hit a slightly thin iron shot and he turned to me and said that’s the best bad shot there is!

Sounds very much to me, that this guy is lifting up slightly, instead of staying down. Nothing more than that. If he can hit it off a tee, he must be able to hit it off the grass. Funny how we didn't get to see the result of the shot. I could be quite cynical and say, it was just an excuse to make a video!!!
@philipsparks8351
@philipsparks8351 5 ай бұрын
It’s a common misconception and a common mistake to blame the shortening of the radius on lifting rather than the actual cause which is far more likely to be tightness in the grip, wrists or arms or mis-timing
