My entire game has improved watching these guys. One thing on putting is concentration, so practice on busy putting greens and do not get distracted, don't become disturbed and when it happens on the green, it will not affect you.

Whether for birdie, par, or bogey, three foot putts are MUST MAKE putts. Fortunately they are easy to practice in your living room. Part of my practice routine is working on three to five foot putts.

Great and thanks for sharing. Practicing short putts indoors is such a simple way to improve. Combine this with some swings of a Hole In One and you will be formidable next time you play!

My thoughts are as follows: straight back straight thru on short puts. Focus on right hand guiding the face of the putter. Loose grip. Take back enough so the putter face releases. Keep head steady until ball goes in hole. Be aggressive and you won’t miss.

Phillip, You look like a guy that would try something different. When I have a put that breaks from right to left. I aim straight at the pin and I put a slice stroke on the ball and It goes straight to the hole. This is really fun. It just takes a few minutes of practice to get the feel of the stroke. Years ago, I saw Cory Pavin do this on a 5' put. I did this on a 50 foot put right in the hole. My playing partners couldn't believe their eyes. This works on long and short putts. Give it a try. Have some fun! Tad Lamb Columbus Ohio.

This doesn’t take into account the tricks your eyes can play on you. I struggled with my short putts missing to the right. This was on straight putts also. I used the Sam Putt Lab to do an analysis of my putting stroke. Two very important things I learned. First, what I thought was square to the target was not. The laser showed that every putt I stroked, had the club face two degrees open at address. So I was off line from the very start. In addition this was causing me to cut across the ball. Second, I was decelerating on my putting stroke even from 3 feet. This was causing my putter face to open also. I switched entirely to left hand low and that has helped a lot. However I’m struggling a bit with speed on longer putts. Nothing is as easy as it seems.

These 3 footers are the most anxiety inducing putts for me …i like the whole path as apposed to line..it seems to sort of mix well with my letting ball roll in like “fall” in not roll “push “in style some of my friends have.. so aiming near middle of the “path “ on breaking putts instead of focusing on a narrow line for breaking putts of some distance especially should make my 3’ second putts more like 1-2’ if not in at best .

Nice Vid. But you didn't touch on those snap breaking 3 footers where you may even need to aim outside the hole and drip in. Do you recommend hitting firm to minimise break?

Hi Matthew You are right to question this and there is definitely more than one way to approach this type of putt. Certainly too much to just put in a comment here!! so there is at least one more video to come on this topic - keep watching!

What is the difference between `path ` and `line` ?
@Easiestswing
@Easiestswing 9 ай бұрын
That is a really good point to consider - when we think of line it is a very narrow track towards the hole whereas path is about the width of three balls alongside each other. Nearly 3.5” wide. If the ball is at the right pace it can anywhere within the extremities of that path and it will fall in. Mentally getting the ball in that path is a lot easier than trying to make it stay on a narrow line.

I have recently had a putting lesson with my coach. He also emphasised the club face being square to the path and not the hole. New markings on my ball indicate the path and squareness of the club face. Thanks Philip
