The one thing I highly respect about you Jeff is you’re complete transparency as a person, as a fighter and as a coach. You are not only showing yourself in a way 90% of other fighters , content creators and people in general wouldn’t do but you listen and take the time consistently to reply or acknowledge you’re viewers and their comments … good or bad. You are one of the most humble and best for people and especially young kids to look up to, listen to and aspire to be like. Especially in a world where so many responsible people give their viewers old and young negative energy that breeds negative responses, just like people like Conor, Wilder and others . Thank you brother from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🙏🏾💪🏾❤️

Hey jeff, you have a very elusive movement counter punch based style. Im wondering how you turned those big evasive movements into smaller more controlled movements. I wonder if all this extra movement plays into your cardio and what your cardio routine is to be able to maintain that elusive movement based style. As the lvl of opponent increases and the skill gap closes i would be extremely interested in seeing this play out in a top %5 scenario and whether you would gas out as the fight continues into the later rounds. Do your movements change as well as the choices you make change as the fight continues and lactic acid builds up +/ fatigue starts settling in? also, any tips on minimizing wasted movement on evasive techniques.

For years I sparred without head gear. One day I trained with a guy who was like 40lb heavier. It was a friendly session, not too rough but as it always is you get caught a few times. That evening I showered and suddenly could not remember if I already washed my hair. Got out of the shower, brushed my teeth and forgot that I did it. Ended up with bloodied gums and realized I must have brushed my teeth at least five times in a row. That was ten years ago and to this day I need to follow a strict routine while showering or I forget what I just did. I'm ok with it, seems to be the least kind of brain damage that one can have but it's also frightening when you have to face the fact that ypur brain piles up damage and does not recover like the rest of your body. Long story short: Never. Spar. Without. Head guard!
@honest-fba
@honest-fba Жыл бұрын
I thought head gear doesn't actually protect your brain?
@gaminikokawalage7124
@gaminikokawalage7124 Жыл бұрын
@@honest-fba head gear softens strikes, but you're still taking damage. Often, people use this as an excuse to spar harder than they should and end up accumulating more brain damage than they would have otherwise. But headgear does still protect you to an extent, so a really hard shot won't instantly scramble your brains. Best to think of it as a bullet resistant vest
@10pmmemes88
@10pmmemes88 Жыл бұрын
Head gear barely protects against concussive force. It cushions a little, but the added weight can make twisting the skull even more dangerous. They're used to avoid cuts...
@TheSerpentKing
@TheSerpentKing Жыл бұрын
@@10pmmemes88 a softer sparring glove and a thick head guard definitely absorbs force from the impact. Of course it's no insurance to safe you from a full power roundhouse kick but it's all those hundreds of half power strikes you take over the years that do the damage. Just test it; close your eyes and let a buddy hit you without protective gear and then with head guard. I guarantee you'll feel the difference
@Loyalhusband
@Loyalhusband Жыл бұрын
Susceptible to also be hit more depending on person due to decreased field of view. Also depending on quality of gear and application will have to constantly readjust midfight after getting tagged lol

Awesome movement and technique! I want to start training martial arts, what do you suggest? I'm 6'5" 100kg, and I learn movements fast. I dance salsa so I have some coordination and footwork already. MMA is my first choice because of the diversity, but I have an opinion that going to specific discipline like boxing will teach me more detailed about hands, headwork, and angles, kickboxing combined with legs, wrestling about takedowns, and bjj about grappling, but I'm confused about how can one studio such as MMA club teach me all of those? Also, what do you think are some top tier resources to learn the technique? Like John Danaher's course for BJJ for speeding up BJJ learning, for example. Thanks!

I love using side kicks because most ppl don't even know how to defend them and if you throw it hard you can send someone flying across the mat or break a rib. Side kicks, hook kicks, and spinning back kicks are great in kick boxing.

That is a good video on how to spar against a freight train. Maybe that Trav character could do a head movement challenge video with this heavy weight

I like the big guy. He was obviously less skilled but seemed to keep his power at your level.

Jeff you're looking crisp af. I know you are a pretty decent grappler but I'm convinced you would do great in pure Muay Thai or kickboxing. I'm not suggesting giving up on mma but if anyone pulls out in ONE kickboxing or Muay Thai you should consider stepping up.

Watching you spar... Makes me wanna go all out to my sparring partners as well. But controlled. I'm always the good guy that would let them get comfortable on trying all their techniques on me. Hahahah. I'm like tanking all their shots.

Jeff, how do you avoid spraining your own ankle when you kick and connect with your foot?

With practice. Gradually your feet will get used to it and it should be relaxed when you connect. Try to use your shin on contact but if your opponent is tall you need to connect with the feet sometimes. Practice makes everything perfect

actually this one used to be my number one "injury" or pain after sparring sessions. after practicing a lot on the lower part of the heavybag it is possible to strengthen the instep and the foot joint through repetition (100 hard kicks each leg) also when kicking do a more "whipping" motion instead of stiffening up the leg when the kick makes contact I trained in different muay thai schools and neither is correct or incorrect but by whipping it the kick not only comes faster but if the guy retreats which makes the kick connect with the foot is not a weaker kick but a very stinging slap lol
