That definitely brings back all the vibes of the Early Clone Wars series (and the movie). The Droids are scripted to perfection and the action is just right! Sparrow is a lot of fun, a tad too...well, something isn't quite on spot for a Clone Commander, but it plays exceptionally well and his Jedi obviously has him pegged and understands him, so it isn't a bad thing- just not a fully developed one...yet!

So now he has upgraded from a nameless side character lol! He also has the default paint scheme for the 428th battalions, which is Sparrow's battalion.

Thanks!!! Honestly, just use a lot of reference. It’s good practice to try and match models and renders, and once you can do that, you’re pretty much set! It also helps to see others and how they work at it. If you’ve heard of high ground animations, he has a discord server with a lot of talented people in it and I learned a lot by watching what they do as well!

This is very well done. Captures the energetic approach of the earlier TCW seasons while being more grounded and less kiddy like the later seasons. Sparrow seems to be brash and overconfident, and he evidently doesn't value the lives of his men enough to make him more cautious in battle, nor was he going to fight to the end against those battle droids, which makes him an interesting character because it is a much more nuanced approach to a clone character than we have seen under Filoni. Sparrow's troops also look cool, what is the unit name?

Thanks!!! Yeah curry powder (linked in description) made up sparrow’s character! He is definitely more reckless than most clones, but he usually finds a way to get the job done! He’s part of the 428th battalion, which is usually used for under water missions due to their mon Cala jedi general!

@@megapicsxl9232 awesome! Underwater stuff would be cool to see, but from what I have heard, that is quite difficult to animate, so I'd understand if nothing comes of that backstory, but good to see a clone scuba detachment, scuba troopers are criminally underrepresented in Star Wars honestly!

A fun thing is when I originally created Sparrow about a year ago, he was meant to be a gag character for my own entertainment that would get in and out of trouble in the most absurd ways, a la Captain Jack Sparrow style (now you know the blatant name reference and inspo >:D), and now man’s in 3d!! I recently started thinking about how the more realistic/grounded aspects of a war would affect my clone and jedi characters, and I love the analysis you’ve written on him in this interpretation. It would definitely be fun to implement those flaws in an early Clone Wars Sparrow, whittling away at them with character arcs. (which would mean at the point in the animation, he probably wouldn’t have earned his jaig eyes yet, but I gave the design before I knew what the plot was lol) Perhaps that’s the road to a slightly more considerate of life, but no less chaotic drunkard Sparrow who’d still, if given the option, take a shortcut out of dilemmas. Or maybe he’d just become even more quick-thinking and cunning just so he can continue to be just as reckless but with less lethal consequences to his men. It’s probably harder to see some of those traits here, but having stuff 1:1 with my brain isn’t the end all be all and the gorgeous animation plus all the collective efforts that went into it will always have my heart. Mega Pics has already said it, but the full name I have in my doc is the 428th Amphibious Battalion, and the part of the battalion that Sparrow leads in the animation is called Vortex Company. They’ve all got SCUBA and infantry training, because the ratio of water planet campaigns to ground planet campaigns really isn’t too high, but you’ve still gotta take advantage of the aquatic skillsets of the General and the (former) jedi commander. If it wasn’t already apparent, my love for Kit Fisto and the SCUBA troopers he led greatly influenced the concept for the battalion, and the fact that Jai’s (the mon calamari) padawan was a nautolan does not help. Sorry for the wall of text, I have so much written in my docs and I am very normal about my characters

@currypowder2897 No problem, I myself am prone to text walls, that is a cool backstory. It really depends on how good Sparrow's relationship with his Jedi and his men is. You could very much pull off Jack Sparrow vibes in the sense that most people hate him, considering him a loose cannon and a humbug, but he does have a handful of people whom he has a close, generally positive relationship with. Maybe the Jaig eyes came from him fighting one of the Karkadon commanders/troopers single handedly and winning a battle due to his keen wits. Obviously, the higher-ups would doubt him because he is a goofy personality and seems irresponsible (like how Jack Sparrow fighting the Kraken would be on a surface level out of character, but in reality it makes sense), but the Jedi would vouch for him. If you go down a path of him becoming a bit more sober, perhaps the 428th or an allied clone unit will take significant losses, which will include someone important to Sparrow. The best way IMO is in the destruction of an Acclamator, since those things carry well over 15000 clones each, and the CIS in the CW 2003 had a Quarren cannon that can completely destroy one in a single shot. Alternatively, TCW showed that CIS proton cannons can destroy them fairly easily on Ryloth. To make Sparrow feel responsible maybe the destruction would be caused by a situation caused by Sparrow's overconfidence, but where he can do nothing but watch, maybe even being on the comm and hearing the final moments of his comrades. The Acclamator's wreckage could fall, with Sparrow searching through the wreckage in desperation to try and find survivors. Maybe he finds some, maybe he doesn't, but most of the crew and passengers would be dead, and he would see all of their bodies whilst searching.

Sparrow is part of the 428th division! And they also do a lot of scuba missions bc their general, Jai is a mon Cala jedi(shown in the animation). As for using them, you’d have to ask curry powder(her Instagram is linked in the description) she’s the one who came up with the characters!

Loved it! Absolutely amazing! Love the ending too! Keep up the great work! One of my favorite animators! I have a few questions though. I’m trying to make my own animation so I have been experimenting with clone models. I ran into a problem though, how did you connect the blaster to your clone? When I pose my clone, the blaster stays where it previously was. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Also, (sorry to bother you again) what did you use for the voices?

For the blaster, you could either parent it to the hand bone, or use a child of constraint to be able to have them put it down or drop it (in blender) and the clone voices were done by shapeshifter va! He’s great at doing Dee Bradley Baker and Temuera Morrison clone impressions!

@@starwarsproductions9666 Yeah I saw 7 cube's comment! His animation are great!!! And you'll get there! If I saw this when I first started out, I would've never believed I would be able to do that at some point! Just takes practice! As for the tips, if you select the blaster and then go into the armature and shift select the hand, you could press control + p and parent to bone. That way will always have it attached to the hand bone. If you want to be able to turn it on and off (like picking something up or putting it down), you should use the child of constraint. If you do that, I'd recommend looking up a tutorial for it! It's not too complicated, but it's just too many steps for me to write out here and have it not get confusing lol!
