Sparrow - Morning Song 1

My wife told me we have a Song Sparrow singing in our backyard every morning. So on Saturday I hauled out the Canon 7D and the Sigmonster (Sigma 300-800 f5.6 EX HSM), mounted up the shotgun mic, and tried my hand at recording this wonderful little bird.

Beautyfull video. Thank you for sharing. The are many song-sparrows and chickadees in my garden. They sing everymorning. I live in Vancouver Canada and also have canaries. Anyone e has same favorite??

Location? You might look up lists of songbirds in your area and then go to the Macauley Library and listen to recordings of the different birds. Make sure the recordings you listen to are the same time of year as you have been hearing them. I have identified lots of birdsongs that way. A two-note song would not be a Song Sparrow. My first guess might have been Black-Capped Chickadee (whose spring song has three notes in most places, but two notes in some places) except that their tone is a clear one, not squeaky. Another thing that matters is where they are singing from -- high or low in the trees, or in the bushes, etc.
