He was a great character! Yes! But he was a heartless man, he killed Spartacus wife just because he didn't want him to lose his purpose as a gladiator. That was a cruelty. He made Barca kill Ovidius son, and then killed Barca because he thought the boy was alive, he decapitated a guard for losing his keys. He was a bastard, but I gotta admit he was one of those villains you love to hate, such a charismatic guy.

Thing is, Gods of the Arena kind of steps on this conversation. Solonius was Batiatus's best friend and aided him in many of his schemes, especially in finally trapping Tullius. He should have known full well what Batiatus was capable of and been far more wary of anything and anyone close to him.

I can see your point but it is a little different killing a gangster with strong business connections than a magistrate. Not to mention he perfectly maneuvered Solonius into taking the blame by using Ashur. I took it more as him admitting he underestimated his cunning than his ruthlessness. But that me.

@@zackthezabarak739 I want to add he also saw Batiatus as power-hungry in the end of GoA, Asher telling him how derange and unstable he was becoming made him think he could outmanuever Batiatus, especially since he went as far as going after a magistrate... in the end he made the same mistake as Tulius.

Well he kind of betrayed him in Gods of the Arena, but in a sense because Batiatus was treating him like a servant than an ally so it was a toxic relationship from the point when he took over the Lanista.

@@DarknessIsThePath Betray is a pretty strong word. He wrapped Solonius up in shit he didn't want to be a part of at all since the shit got messy and could have resulted in his death. I can think of at least 2 instances where Solonius could have been killed as a "friend" because of Batiatus' schemes. Batiatus favored only himself. I'm sure *if* Solonius was killed he would have avenged him, but that's a cold comfort to the dead.

He knew his words and begging wouldn’t change a thing and he is to face his fate. He was yet honorable and faced his death like a true warrior. He long accepted his death while in captivity. And when it was in motion, he went there and fought knowing that was inevitable to him. Spartacus knew he was slaying the wrong villain. Granted him a swift death. Spartacus was honest to him. In the moment of his death, knowing he will be avenged, Spartacus’ words brought him the slight serenity.

This pleases me. This makes me happy..mwahaha I think I like it when Batiatus gets what he wants. The only bad thing I hate about him is that he kills with much proof of a tale. Like his own Gladiator who he thought didn't follow his orders. Another thing was him killing the wife of Spartacus. Other than that, I love the guy. I look forward on how he progresses in this sand of blood.

@minomane i wanted to keep Solonius.I like most of the mofos in movies. their roles are more interesting that that of the heroes because they are not predictable.the baddies of the show are the bests. the heroes are all bland, even that bloke who plays spartacus. he has very little entertaining value.too cliché
