This horse is just breathtaking. The horse has been yanked on so hard that the slightest pull on the chain makes him over react. I’ve bred, shown Arabians since the seventies and I have witnessed so much cutely these horses endure to show. I love to see a handler actually show the horse so we can see it’s beauty. These out of control handlers are not improving how these horses are presented.

I just left a job I saw one get punched in the face for being afraid at. I only say a few oof the hirses get any turnout at all. They all got huge amounts of grain and were just nervous as hell. They said those were their breed quirks. No they weren't . I've worked alot around Arabians, I owned one myself, and I have my half Arabian stallion now and he's way calm. Those were not breed quirks I was seeing at that barn.

I worked with the famous Arabian Stallions Mikeno and El Meluk back in the early 1970s. They were never ever handled in this way. In this video clip I never saw this beautiful horse's true movement once. It's legs were flying all over the place, and as for beautiful self carriage it was totally nonexistent. A great display of disgusting handling.

Can thank the 1980s for this type of handling becoming the norm. Unfortunately it hasn’t gone out of fashion and why I won’t have any of my horses show in class A halter classes...the judges actually expect this type of handling. Beautiful horse.

I totally agree with the yanking on the face! How would you like that done to you???? The horse is reacting because a) it's painful and b) you are confusing the horse with your actions. When you walk gentle with him, he is gentle. When you yank on his face, he reacts and tries to pull away from you.
@Ladypurr6 жыл бұрын
Spartacus is so "NATURALLY" beautiful. His conformation is excellent and his movement is lovely. Does forcing him to stand like a statue really add anything to his beauty? I get really angry watching "handlers" yank incessantly on these horses. Why? If these guys would take the time to gently train them (and they sure should find the time because they're being paid a lot of money!) you'd see much happier and more responsive horses. I wish that all of them could be subjected to the sharp yanking every few seconds they inflict on horses. Perhaps then they'd understand. The manner in which too many halter trainers handle horses is pure, human domination. I know who this guy is and he does not treat horses very kindly. I trained my Arabian gelding to stand poised for halter judging and I did it without a halter, lead line, or whip. I just pointed, used my body language and clucked to him. You can train a horse do just about anything if you gain his respect and trust--two important qualities of true human civility that are rapidly disappearing from the human species in general.

So glad to read your input about our precious halter horses especially Arabians., but also so damn saddened by the truth be known of unnecessary unfeeling handling by these so called "professionals" ha! They are not respected nor needed. Wish there was something to be done, but what. All this money, brings power and fame to do whatever it takes to win. Breaks ones' heart. Let us pray.🙏

I would also like to add that this horse was nearly out of the trainer's control. I would say nearly only because of the whip. True horsemanship does not have to base control of fear.

Are you saying you know more about training horses
@amberblyledge78596 жыл бұрын
Agreed, the handler is mixing things up and blaming the horse. Arabians are HIGHLY intelligent, requiring very small signals. That's part of the breeds reputation as both hot horses and incredibly loyal horses.

@EventingZoeyy2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree the breed is quite beautiful but the handler was constantly yanking on the lead rope making the horse seem confused on what gate it should use. The horse was excited and wanted to canter but the handler was causing it to be very messy and not very elegant like the horse is.

This is sick, when I trained Arabians, I got the same beautiful movement and pose with no stupid chains and whips. All I did was hold up my hand and point. Teach Whoa and mean it. This head jerking is painful and ridiculous and very un-necessary for the training of the pose and the movement. First Arabian video I've watched in years and this is what the breeders have come to... shame on you, get rid of the whip and that horrid chain. Poor baby.

Deb's KZbin Art Studio I completely agree with you. I've been to the Region 3 Championship for Arabians and Half-Arabians, and the halter classes are my least favorite to watch. Mind you, the other classes are equally painful to watch, because the horses aren't moving at a natural gait, especially in the western pleasure classes, where the horse is forced to be so collected, that it can barely move, and to be honest it doesn't look attractive at all. And the horses that enter those classes, who do move at a natural gait, never ever place. It's stupid. Even western pleasure classes for Quarter horses is painful to watch, the horses are being bred with pretty much no top line, and their made to have their heads so low to the ground that they can barely move. The horse has to put effort into getting its front end up for a canter, and it looks painful. I don't know when all this became "attractive" or "desired" in horse competitions, but it really does need to stop.
@normaguerra70396 жыл бұрын
Emily Vidimos Maybe the regulations and standards need to be readdressed. Or at least get someone in these shows to watch for signs of mistreatment or abuse. But I also think that this may have been in another country where abuse is not punishable or animals are just goods and $$ signs. The judges should have disqualified him I think. 😢🤒😣

Beautiful horse. I just don't understand the point of the constant yanking on the horse's face. I've worked with horses for 16yrs, Arabians especially. There is a much better way to get a horse to do what you want, without yanking on their face. You can use natural horsemanship to teach a horse to hold its head a certain way. Yanking on the horse's face is just gonna give you a flighty horse, and a horse who is head shy. Also, letting the horse move in its natural gate, they look so much better and happier. And Arabians were bred for endurance, to withstand the extreme heat, go for a long period of time without water, loyalty, confirmation and elegance.
@emilyvidimos25886 жыл бұрын
They were also bred for speed, stamina, intelligence and spirit.
@normaguerra70396 жыл бұрын
I agree there is no need for all that aggressive yanking or whips. Should be seen as some form of abuse.
@emilyvidimos25886 жыл бұрын
norma guerra I agree. To me it takes away from the true beauty of the horse. I mean, the constant yanking on their face for no reason, leaves them thinking that everything they do is bad. I hate seeing it. I remember going to the Region 3 Championship for Arabians and Half-Arabians, and the halter classes were my least favorite to watch because of all the unnecessary yanking.
@ofhericeway6 жыл бұрын
Emily Vidimos I agree completely on what you have said that horse needs to be treated as such what if the horse was a person would the guy like being yanked on by the horse if it was the other way around?? If the horse was the man I mean.
