Linda was actually with chief aboard the pillar of autumn, although considered dead. Chief had placed her body into a cryopod only a few minutes after she died which preserved her well enough that Halsey managed to revive her in the events between halo 1 and 2. Her cryo pod had been jettisoned in space following normal evacuation procedures when the autumn was getting evacuated, and recovered by chief before he met back with Johnson's pelican with the longsword. Of course, you don't know that if you only play the games. Linda was practically, the only known "surviving" spartan since her and chief were the only one to leave reach aboard the autumn.

I feel like Spartan 3's deserve that more tho. Not to take anything away from the 2's since they're demigods at this point, but Spartan 3's were literally bred to be "disposable heroes", and would never enjoy widespread fame and/or recognition as the 2's did, which they only got as a way to keep morale up within the UNSC. ONI would never allow the world to know of their circumstances or the missions they undertook as 3's. If you think about it, in a way, the circumstances the 3's had were worse than the 2's in that they were considered expendable. Given, they actually had a choice in joining the SPARTAN program unlike the 2's, but at least when 2's die, it's considered a massive loss for the UNSC. With 3's, you could lose as much as 300 in a day and it would all be just another day in the SPARTAN office.

@@wcc4269 2s were the only ones abducted. 3s were screened from orphans of glassed colonies and were given the choice of continuing to be just orphans or become SPARTANs and get revenge on the Covenant. You can read Ghosts of Onyx for reference.

Spartan 1's= Increased strength, speed, reflexes, sight. Weren't given suits. Seargent Johnson is a Spartan 1. Spartan 2s= Everything I listed previously. As well as increased bone density blood circulation and many other things. Not to mention the addition of mjolnir armour. But taken at a young age at the beginning of the Covenant War out of fear and did inhumane augmentations that caused extreme pain but were a means to an end. Spartan 3s= Adults, that willingly volunteered to take new drug augmentations, across the board similar to Spartan 1's on but were given modified mjolnir armour that wasn't as effective as Spartan 2 armour. But it's was MUCH cheaper to produce. So yes Spartan 3's had to rely much more heavily on teamwork. Spartan 4's= Adults, again volunteering. Not given any form of inhumane augmentation. Everything is strictly speed, sight, cardiovascular, mental, slight strength increase.. but nit nearly the level of a Spartan 1, 2, or 3. But given advanced training and more advanced mjolnir than 2. But never recieved Body Frame Modifications thus still retaining Normal human height. To be clear Sgt Johnson a Spartan 1. If he was given mjolnir armour he would outright trash a Spartan 4.

@@sierra7534 Glasslands Novel, Spartan II Naomi and a team of ODST's went back to Onyx and busted them out while also arresting Halsey for the whole abduction and conscription of children into the spartan program. This also led to the apprehension of Engineers that were knowledgeable in forerunner technology that decided to work with the UNSC giving them the edge in technology needed to craft better equipment as well as wrap up the construction of the Infinity. That was the book in a nutshell but that whole trilogy is worth the read despite people saying how dull it can be at times, it goes into the gray areas of the UNSC as well as giving some personality to the Spartans showing that they do have some semblance of human emotion.

Omega Team have some pretty interestingly cool armor customizations and add-ons. Any data on why that is and what they entail exactly?

I can explain this fortunately. Omega team designs were introduced during Halo wars 2, 343 in the meantime has a roll-over art design by changing both art director and writer. They are inspired by both old (Reach specifically) and new art style, so they decide to make a mix between them for Halo wars 2, which is very great. That explains the modular design for Omega team, which is similar to Reach's spartans. Lore-wise, they are using old builds of the Mjonir armor because they were cryo-sleeping for the whole time (it's true for Red team, it is possible for Omega team but I'm not exactly sure)

Bit offtopic but Halo 4's Elite animations are pretty good in-game. That Elite near the end dodged like a pro. I do like how a lot of the Spartan teams varied based on mission. As casualties mounted up/members splitting up, the teams became more defined.

Theybreally were. The only ones trained to be the ultimate soldiers. Others afrerward are meant to be disposable, budget cuts Spartans. Although S3 are badasses they suffered UNSC/ONI bad decision and horrible armor. S4 are wannabes and doesn't compare except Buck because he is Capt Reynolds.

Out of all the teams, Grey Team (aside from blue) sticks out to me the most. They're the textbook definition of Special Forces. Very similar to the real life SAS of the British Army. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the Spartans are all awesome and unique. But Grey for me represents the old school definition of traditional special forces rather than simply Sci-Fi super soldiers on the front lines. I'm probably a bit biased since Jai Is of South Asian origin (like my self xD).

Actually in the Navy Master Chief Petty Officers are considered higher than lower ranking officers even though it is an enlisted rank. All Chiefs are more experienced due to the fact that MCPO is the highest enlisted rank. Also John 117 is ( I believe) the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy which is one of the highest positions in the military. In which case he would be a higher rank than Fred.

Don’t forget Beta Red Team on Reach. They were defending one of the Orbital Defense Platforms. Upon the Covenant breaking through UNSC defenses and acquiring air superiority, Beta Red Team’s last transmission indicates that they were falling back before the Covenant orbitally bombarded the area. They then hailed any available UNSC ships in the area for an immediate evac. Their current whereabouts are unknown. Seeing as how Will’s team survived an orbital bombardment, alongside UNSC Prowlers cloaked above the planet, I find it likely they could have survived.

Personally, I found it strange that during Halo 1, 2, 3 we never met or hear mention of any other Spartans, considering how many of them are alive.

@@simonaspalovis1204 It's just that many of them are deployed on top secret missions or simply MIA with no way to contact the UNSC during the time that Halo 1,2 and 3 take place. You have to remember almost all Spartans available were sent to Reach and Reach happens literally right before Halo: CE starts in the trilogy so it makes sense after Reach was glassed that not many Spartans are mentions...so many of them died on Reach.

If it were handled well i'd be fine with it. For example, Red Team is fine because everyone would reasonably think they're dead. They're also not really special outside of the context of Halo Wars. Blue Team is a bad example of this, they're all close to Chief and somehow all survived up to Halo 5 but never bumped into him in any of the 4 other games?
