I dont get why people like to hate on this ship, it's underrated. Oh and spartan first of all in Sims it's mandatory to have William Sims as an inspiration on halsey, Eric bey too. Second it's also mandatory to have the long range torps on the ship because your more effective as a backup destroyer and launching torps from mid to long range

Unfortunately, a pretty lazy review that does not take various things into account. 1. You have slightly higher reload speed which partially compensates the missing extra gun. Worse than benson or Kidd, but not as bad as Spartan makes it appear. 2. You have a choice of torps. The long range torps are slow and have low damage, agreed, but also here, it’s being compensated with far better reload speed than benson, as well as Kidd.You can use these torps with their low detection range/reaction time very well for area denial. 2. Higher speed and better manoeuvrability than Benson or Kidd. One can argue the value of this, but it’s clearly a standout point among the American line. One can have different opinions of ships, of course. I wouldn’t even say that Sims is a particularly good ship, but it is relatively solid and with some unique points. I would wish that Spartan puts a bit more care into his videos. A simple DPM comparison with other ships and a little more attention to the differences in stats would offer a big benefit to players with a buying decision. It would also make for a more interesting presentation than pure tabular stat reading.

4:40 DD don't eat Citadel's like other classes do. They don't take extra damage for getting hit there.

They may not be citadels but they do actually take more damage being hit there. You knock out engines and you will notice much more damage salvos when you hit it. Instead of salvos on the bow sections doing 1700-2200 you hit that section right and you'll get 2500-3k salvos and knock out their engines.

It's a good ship for Versus AI so you can get your bureau trails for research. AI team is usually a sack of potatoes anyway. BTW played against you here a while back Spartan, you are definitely a shifty captain.

It does.not have the same torps. Mahan has 64kt 6.4km torps. Sims has 69kt 5.5km torps.

Honestly you should consider making a separate account on world of warships just so people do not constantly target you making the game so hard to play. Many people who stream/make content do this because everyone shoots them thinking they’re gonna get on to KZbin. I was in a match with you in arena and you were on the enemy team, I spotted you but did not go after you specifically because I know people who create content hate getting focused down just because of their gamer tag, and that’s the way it should be. Just a suggestion because I know this can get very frustrating and annoying.

Yep, once in my team a BB deliberately went to kill Spartan just for the point, but he could have easily survived and kept us points... Prolly that cost us a defeat.. And that is a problem - ppl suicide for a shoot run to a CC...

@@olegwinner yes, that match I was in the Mahan viewing his brawls and engagements. There was a team that ran into us but as soon as Spartan was detected for them they went out of their way to kill him. So by the time he killed the two enemy teams and he went to the base to prevent a cap, he was already at 1/8 HP. Feel for him and must be so hard getting this vids out here.

I remember when French destroyers were supposed to be the new kings of the gunboat meta. Turns out the frogs should stick to making wine because I spanked them in my American DDs all day. Soviet destroyers are still challenging opponents though.

I have to say I absolutely despise the US DD line, they're a distant 4th in preference for my DD play behind the Japanese, German and British lines but just ahead of the French and Russian lines.

Spartan, to be fair, this ship was in the Battle of Coral Sea and sunk with it's cruiser-buddy Neosho by Japanese aircraft because they got confused for a carrier division. (wrong place, wrong time sadly enough. Poor sims. (And to top it off it isn't even that good in-game. Yikes wargaming.))

Just got it from a chest ... maneuverability is pretty much the only thing it has going for it, other then that its one of the worst dd's out there ... You can do well with it but you are far better of with the Benham or kidd

im just honest about how I feel. Others will likely not criticize things as harshly as I do because they are afraid of how Devs may act and such. I personally value my own integrity more than my relationship with Dev teams. I am quick to let them know when they do well. So I should be just as quick to let them know when things they release aren't worth the time let alone money. I feel like people appreciate my honesty and know that I am speaking from a position of being above average at the game at best meaning I am a closer representation of what they can expect out of a particular ship. When I say I enjoy a ship it likely sells better. When I say I dislike a ship it may suffer a bit in sales. At the end of the day if I can help folks avoid the frustration of buying a ship which by the way is not cheap in Legends and finding out that it is less than desirable then I have done my job.

I hate to say this but Legends is a really bad representation of WOW. especially when using ships like this where you can stay out of spotting range without having to worry about being spotted by enemy aircraft. i would genuinly love to see you play actual WOW because i love your content

Wrong, its Ruddershift and Turn Radius is Exceptional. So is the Torpedo speed.

@@StevenPLegere : Rudder shift is good, turn circle is good, torpedo speed of 65kt is on a par with Akatsuki's torps but do about 6k less damage, match the Jervis torps but doing more than 4k less damage, are 4kt slower than Maas but only do about 2k less damage, are 8kts faster than Vauquelin but do about 7k less, have more range but are 12kts slower than Minsk torpedoes and again do nearly 4k less. Sorry mate but it's a shit ship and a waste of money and I look forward to making lots of players regret buying it.

NGL I'm not exactly a fan of US DDs in game, not stealthy, guns aren't exceptional well maybe exceptionally fast, torpedoes only slightly less of an afterthought than in Russian destroyers.

Terrible review. You Missed the Mark on this one. MANUVERABLE! The Ruddershift and Turning Circle Radius is CRAZY GOOD...the torps are the Fastest US Torps in the game. Use them vs other DD. Burke gives you 73kt Torps and Accurate guns. You already have the reload. Use Sims and Blue Fioria as Inspirations. Now you have 2400 more HP and 5% more HP. She is a DD killer...

@@SpartanElite43 The turn Radius and Ruddershift is Much Better than ANY other US DD. Benson Torps only do 59kt after upgrade. Sims do 73kt... Yeah their range sucks but not when using them vs other DD. Rate of fire is better... And it can out dodge... Im not saying its great. Its not. In its intended role as a DD hunter it can be Very Effective.
