Oh yea i’ve been in love with the kansas sense it came out. It doesn’t quite compare to a yamato obviously, but it can dance around with one a little bit and it’s not even a legendary. i think it’s one of the top 5 best battleships for sure.

Kansas is as tanky as a Yamato. The only thing the Yamato has is her 18in guns which over match every ship in the game. Give the Kansas 18 in guns an the Yamato wouldnt have a chance.

Positioning is most the battle doesn't entirely matter what ship your in there's a dominate position and timing/patience. Face to face close range Yamato all day. At range the Kansas could consentrate guns and super structure and accurately hit them enough to force Yamatos tactics to change plus do a little dreadnought shuffle. As they ease in close the Yamato possibly at little to no health and few guns working

What's funny is, technically, Kansas has a heavier main broadside than Yamato. If Kansas has the same 45 cal guns as N. Carolina or the same 50 cal guns as Iowa and Montana (the game is a little vague on that point), she can fire twelve 2600lb projecties to Yamato's nine 3200lb shells. Obviously, Yami can pen more armor with heavier shells, but more of them gives Kansas a better chance to citadel. I've fought Yamatos in Kansas. A lot depends on if the Yami's guns don't troll but I've found that, even though Yami has more armor it's laid out worse than Kansas and it's real easy to cit through that bow side if the enemy Yami gives up to much angle which can happen as Kansas is a bit more nimble than Yamato. And it doesn't help Yamato that, imo, the ship used to be much better before WG messed up her dispersion. I have literally missed 2km shots with all 9 shells due to Yami's current wonkey dispersion.

@@dusky3766 i personally think that any ship can defeat a ship better than it like a south carolina could defeat a yamato if the yamato was in the wrong position or it had low health or it couldn't get a clear shot and it's the same thing with the yamato and other ships

Maybe the Iowa was dodging the Azizuki´s torps. Sometimes "bad" decisions of BB are forced moves due to agresive destroyers. You must notice that. Maybe if you dont have a good DD player you dont have juicy broadside BB

Unless the Akizuki now has 14km torps the Iowa was not dodging anything. Sometimes "bad" decisions are just bad decisions.

@@ag3nt_green Yeah, sometimes bb players commit too early to something like a turn and there is just no going back, esp with ships like Iowa. Imo battleships have the highest skill cap in the game for that reason. You really need to be not only thinking at least a minute or two ahead at all times, but keeping track of your positioning and the enemy's and paying attention to when you're spotted. Your armor is your best friend right up until it isn't. I think this is why Wargaming starts players with cruisers, then destroyers, then battleships rather than having bbs avaliable right at the start. And even then, new bb players usually have a rough time even at tier 3 figuring out armor angling and positioning, something the game does nothing to teach you, relying on more experienced players punishing (when they're allowed to by RNG at least).

I've also noticed playing Kansas that, when I fire the front guns, people sometimes seem to just forget, oh, yeah, that's only half Kansas firepower, and turn out after my first shot gets there then I catch them shuffling to the rear guns. I would love to know the damage stats on each gun for my Kansas but I'd bet the rear turrets end up doing 50% more damage than the front, on average.

They forget the kansas has 4 Iowa turrets, its literally a bulky Iowa, you don't wanna broadside to that.

@@Susanoo449 Too right. Technically Kansas has the heaviest broadsides in the game at tier 7, heavier than some legendary bbs. Yet Kansas, herself, looks kinda small and pretty unassuming next to her long and sleek cousin Iowa I think is why some players get caught off guard.

Note: if you are behind and not in a smoke it could be just as you are behind an island instead of it you can shoot through that. But the game works bad in this case. Other thing: comparing the PC version, if a carrier is in fire it can't launch planes - logically - but in Legends it is not a problem for carriers.

I keep explaining to people that kiting in a bb doesn't mean border humping. I play between yours and zarkuns style U can be in a kiting angle and not be ineffective. It doesn't mean ur running away from the enemy. I tend to kite about 5 km from cap in mid. If the map allows for that position It makes Iowa so damn tanks I regularly out duel legendary ships. I keep telling them that u don't have to only push or only run. Pushing doesn't mean changing in. And kiting doesn't always mean running

Battleships are perfectly capable of killing destroyers. Ceasare is a good example. Fast, agile and very good HE and secondaries. I have had matches where i killed all 3 or 4 destroyers where my cruiser teammates failed. Usually cruiser players are damage hunters and farm battleships.

No doubt American BB's are the most fun in my opinion (exc. Legendary) more consistent with citadels for me. Had a game in the Nevada a couple days ago and killed 7 of the enemy team. Got 11k XP with a booster 👀👍

@@toenailmuncher0772 its the consistency for me. Generally on most cruisers I aim a little higher rather than waterline so I don't overpen (med-long range) and dev strikes almost guaranteed I swear. Even more so if they turn in to show the citadel more

I usually HE a cruiser, she overpens quite a lot with AP ON cruisers ( but that's just me and my Shitshow I call aiming. Excuse my french) she just mops the floor with any opponent. That same match I got a kraken, I got 4 kills. All had ciditalls. Most were Dev Strikes. One of my favourite BBs ever

@@toenailmuncher0772 if you're over-penning I've found a lot of the time its cos youre not aiming for the best place on the ship, which obviously varies, if its a nice and thicc heavy cruiser broadside aim waterline And lead so your shells are roughly centre ship. If you over pen then move your aim further forward towards the bow. If a cruiser is coming bow on to you, then most of them you can just smash straight through the bow into the citadel or atleast decent pens. If you still manage to over pen, say for example with a very lightly armoured cruiser thats broadside, then load HE cos you can citadel with HE atleast up to tier 5 quite easily, but only on lightly armoured. For the most part to conclude you want to be using AP 90% of the time with american bbs even sometimes against dds. Main advantage to HE on dds is the fact it can disable/destroy torps which is useful if they try to rush and torp you because AP won't usually disable much if not anything on dds. I promise you, I'm sure long term players would agree, you will get wiped when you run into half decent players if you only use HE! Anyway hope that essay helps 😂👍 good luck mate

It is the apotheosis of the dikotomy the Kansas itself is a example of the original Super Dreadnought of the South Dakota class shortly after the first world war the Iowa is the Capstone of fast battleships for the second world war they're just different takes on the ethos of American Naval Parliament that being said I prefer the Kansas I'd like having the extra turret in the more comprehensive conventional layout of armor however the Iowas the future and eventually the era of Naval artillery came to an end and that being said Spartan I agree with you as far as the Iowas guns seem to have the edge and gameplay still though the Kansas is classical sturdy in the Iowa can reach out and touch people at a distance :-)

I dunno if it's just me but hitting a crusier especially fire starters or light crusiers from 100 to 0 hp is just a nut moment, because today I played a game in Izmail, no upgrades and a low lvl commander, I haven't used the Russians for very long so I'm still upgrading shit, but this Dallas was behind an island and begun coming out, I used the auto aim since I couldn't see his ship and didn't want him to see me fire because it would've been to late at the range I fired, he went from 100 to 0 in 2 citadels and 2 pens.

Iowa with the right play is awesome arguably the best out there . But it’s a ship you must learn to play . The Kansas is more up front but again you need to learn it’s play . When you do it’s magic .
