Meet The Schroder! Tier 8 German Cruiser (World of Warships Legends)

After the collapse of the German Empire under the weight of revolution and defeat in the First World War, its successor state-the Weimar Republic-was subjected via treaty to harsh restrictions by the victorious Entente in an effort to curtail the nation’s military resurgence. These restrictions included limitations on the number and displacement of warships that the new German Navy could field. In the 1920s, starting with the Washington Naval Treaty, the rest of the world’s naval powers would come together themselves and agree to limit the size and power of their own navies in order to prevent an expensive and potentially destructive naval arms race. Having already had their navy crippled by the World War I-era peace treaties, the Germans weren’t invited to take part in these conferences. However, in 1928, the shipbuilding arm of the German Navy prepared a design for a battlecruiser that would comply with international arms limitation treaties to have ready in case Germany were to at some point become signatory to them. The Admiral Schröder is based on a German battlecruiser design from 1928. This design was intended as a “treaty cruiser” killer, armed with eight 305 mm guns in four twin turrets as well as a heavy secondary battery with 150 mm guns in triple turrets. Those ships would have a standard displacement of 17,500 tons and be able to reach 34 knots but in return, the main belt was quite thin with only 100 mm of armor. For such ships to ever come to be, a nullification of the Versailles treaty was necessary as it was limiting Germany to build ships with a maximum displacement of 10,000 tons. However, Vice-Admiral Hans Zenker, the one in charge of this battlecruiser design as well as the “father” of the Panzerschiffe design, annoyed the Reichstag a bit too much, constantly pushing them to negotiate the nullification of the Versaille treaty. As a result, he was replaced with Erich Raeder and the 1928 design was abandoned. However, when Hitler came to power, he would dust it off, and the Scharnhorst-class would be born from its ashes. The Admiral Schröder is named after August Ludwig von Schröder, an admiral of the Imperial German Navy during World War I, he was a also a recipient of the Pour le Merite medal and entered the newly established Imperial Naval Service in May of 1871. Prior to World War One, he served on several different ships and commanded the Blitz, as well as the training vessel the Moltke. He additionally functioned as the Chief of the Cruiser-Class Division in the West Indies. Von Schröder retired from active duty in 1913. As the War broke out on both fronts, von Schröder was reactivated and named commanding Admiral in Flanders, where he was in charge of both the sea-going forces and most of the naval infantry, which by mid-December 1915 became officially known as the Marinekorps Flandern. After transfer to the Baltic and near War's end, von Schröder was ordered by the Kaiser to take action against mutineering German sailors in Kiel. He advised Reichskanzler von Baden that the proposed measures were too harsh, and the orders were thus not carried out. Ludwig von Schröder died in Berlin-Halensee on 23 July 1933 and was buried at the Invalidenfriedhof. His son Ludwig was a general in the Wehrmacht during World War Two.

This ship is so fun. Xarky said it pens 32mm. I agree the AP does shatter, but I don't think it's that bad. I use Hyde , with Hipper and Haruna.

German BBs to start a game, use their Secondaries to assist ally DDs to eliminate enemy DDs and take them out for early first kills. Schröder is... Interesting. It has the fire rate, and Secondaries to allow for pushes with your DD, to take out any serious problem ships you have. You're certainly not invincible, but I think this ship will go hard.

Hmm, the tunnelvision, overextend to aggressively early in the match. That's pretty much me. I really have to repeat to myself every match, "take it easy, don't push, look at the minimap"

Been messing around with it against AI for premium supplies and havent really used it much before ... 150k+ damage is actually quite easy to get which is normally not easy against AI since they get blown up left and right in no time. Gona have to play around with it in standard battles Just got a 206k dmg 7 kill AI game ... Also running full secondary with Bismarck. It does pretty well in standard too and had some great games in it. Pretty fun ship

Hey spartan, I have a build for you to use on this ship that I’ve had a lot of success with. Muller with mimbelli and Norman Scott as inspirations. For skills: beyond range, igniter, punch through, and fixated. The guns are a lot more accurate and your able to do damage more consistently

Just a thought a thought for the commander, but why not try John/Jean Luke? You want get the base trait, but you buff enhance secondaries, and your secondaries in general. An then you can enhance your AA, dispersion on your main guns, and survivability. Lastly you add the commander the increases the secondary range, and the final commander can be anything that supports the rest above.

So I've been working with muller with inspirations in ap pen, ap damage, and leaving the secondaries as they are. An I've been having pretty good success out of it. So I can't try this, but I'm betting if I had the warhammer commander Augustin with the same setup I have with mullen that this would be a pretty good ship start out mid/long range, and up finishing in mid/close range. I'm only playing with 15-16% AP pen increase atm, but Augustin will give 22% increase along with 13% AP dmg, and speed increases i believe.

I use AL Bismarck with AA in first slot and everything else similar to yours. Inspirations though I use hipper and the commander for the Atlantico. Can’t think of his name but he has better secondary range and also buffs main gun range

Its not bad. Though the 1 time i did go against this ship my Massachusetts secondary weapons ripped that thing to pieces. This ship goes good in a 2 on 1. The secondaries can sneakily do tons a damage.

Spartan, you are so lucky in legends, you do not have the forced membership ap overpen club pc has. I can take a DESTROYER and fire ap into a 2 tier higher cruiser and get OVER PENETRATIONS through the belt. I can citadel a bb from a dd with ap as a member of the ap overpen club.
