Fun fact, the Scharnhorst is 90 feet longer than the South Dakota class battleships. She has a narrower beam, thinner by 10 feet. As far as displacement, at full load the South Dakota's were only about five thousand tons heavier. So in reality they are very similar sized ships compared to the each other. Scharnhorst is even forty feet longer than the North Carolina class.

I don't have the Scharnhorst 43', but I have the OG Ship. Running a full reload build is DISGUSTING, and getting the legendary skill can be seriously funny. The secondary range is a big improvement than base Scharnhorst, but other than that, OG is better in every way. Part of me still wants it, but if you wanna play this ship, go get Odin for free GXP in the store. Better in every single way, and you can get an even faster Reload, down to 14 seconds. And BY THE WAY, Scharnhorst 43 has a longer secondary range than FDG. LET THAT SINK IN FOR A MOMENT.

I mean, important to note that the torps reload in half the time. Meaning you could get 2 strops strikes in one brawl. Plus, it’s secondaries have improved fire chance AND reload compared to other similar secondaries. The guns do feel worse, but those secondaries make the boat at tier 7 pretty good, and the torps make it a really good kiting brawler

Brother, you’re running a bad build on it. One of the significant changes to this boat over Scharnhorst are the vastly improved secondaries. Yet you barely build into them, building into guns with aiming systems and reload mod on guns you even said were “abysmal”. If you build full secondary, use mostly HE on anything that isn’t broadside, and play patiently, it’s can do great things. I’ve had multiple 150-180 k games, just don’t think you’re building it right. Also, your opinion on Atlantico is sorta valid. But Atlantico is the epitome of “middle range”. If you just force it to push into you, you can use your torps and kill it easy. If you out range the secondaries and spam HE, you can bounce its AP and melt it. Atlantico is strongest when you just sit 8-12 km away. It’s a really good ship, but it’s not mega OP. Other boats are worse to fight

Agreed. I had one of my best games this weekend, Kraken, confederate, high caliber, first blood, and close quarters. A full secondary build with decent teammates made the difference. Heals are also a pleasant surprise. I run Ciliax, Hipper, and Sims. Brawler, Porcupine, Advanced Schemes, Properly Meticulous, and Running w/Scissors or Fight Fire. Patience is a virtue, though. I've also been deleted a few times because I was too aggressive too early and did not position well.

After however long atlantico has been out, i finally figured out how to citadel it. The trick is to aim at its upper belt/deck plating when the arent angling towards you or away.

I had Scharnhorst for a good time and I have always liked about how different it is compared to the usual battleships. This is a hit and run battleships that enjoys fast engagements and not kiting at long range (you can do better with anyother BB). Imo. Sharnhorst is the better version of Gneisenau, because of better volume of fire, dispersion and main battery range. It can handle uptiers, but you need to be more careful, when pushing in. With downtiers this ship starts to really shine and cruisers will get overmatched more often at tier 5-6. Sharnhorst 43 is a straight up downgrade, because you are less likely to face ships with low enough armor (have to use more of terrible HE shells). You would be much better off with Odin/Branderburg, because they have upgraded 305mm guns, which are much more suited for this tier.

Sounds to me, people expect to Citadel other bbs because the shiny horse is classified as a bb. Well, duuuuuh, it has smaller guns, so you won't be able to citadel a bb, its a cruiser killer. On bbs, i just aim for superstructure and light them on fire. With this ship, i feel you need to alter your thinking and not play like like a normal bb

Scharnhorst 43 is one of my go to ship I do pretty good with it, I think alot is your style of play, some are better at destroyers and some are good at battleships and so on. Its like an intermediate ship. But thats just me.

I will be honest, unless I am playing with friends in a division I do NOT play randoms and have no interest in randoms for the exact reason you mentioned. If I am by myself, I play co-op and just have fun blowing up the zombie hoard that is the CPU. I get in and out in five minutes or less and it lets me grind my dailies and weekly challenges efficiently and most importantly I have FUN while doing it.

This thing is a fire breathing Dragon with torps. You have to do a secondary build and fire HE to make this viable at the tier. I got the secondaries out to 11km. This may have the best secondaries at the tier in my opinion. Its a great all rounder. This thing wins games. Period. I prefer this over Odin. Brandenburg and Zieten are slightly better.

Also, I'm pretty sure the catapult fighter doesn't literally do nothing. It, supposedly, effectively slightly improves your AA for a limited time. Not the actual AA on your ship but it's supposed to help shoot down attacking planes in it's range. Other than that, yes, the catapult fighter does nothing else. I think catapult fighters (and spotter planes) should work for the ship that launches them how planes work now for carriers i.e. spots only for the ship they belong to and the ships show up on the minimap. This would help a lot in matches with few if any destroyers and give some utility and purpose to a mostly useless ability.

Yes WG needs to make a PURE spotting plane like on PC that spots and also does that 3rd person look over mechanic that is a blast to use. The regular fighter should be buffed to shoot down 2 planes if it's used. Pure spotting needs to be there for cruisers.

@@greggblack8205 Yeah, it really sucks trying to spot for yourself in a cruiser which is the dd's job. Either you get potatoes that just rush in their cruisers and get yeeted back to port or everyone hides behind islands playing a long drawn out game of "peekaboo". Although there were many positives of removing carrier's spotting utility in legends this is one of the negatives that could be fixed by allowing cruisers to spot for themselves with a plane temporarily.

That's a shame they didnt buff her more, I love the challenge of the Shiny Horse at tier 6, but usually I get wrecked when dealing with tier 7 sniper ships. I can't wait for the joy of fighting Musashi in a tier 6 hull. It wasn't fun WHEN Yamatos were still fighting tier 6s, before. She really should get reduced visibility, the long range toprs of the tier 7 German battle crusers, Bismarck secondary range, and/or a far better turn radius.

Scharnhorst has always been stronger when played as a "big cruiser". The DMG of cannons is not enough if you try to play like tradiotional BB. It is definitely a battlecruiser even though it is classified officially and also in the game as BB. I think Scharnhorst’43 is pretty strong ship. OG was my most played ship so i will like this one also very much. What I didn't like was that WG gave it to a lot of people for free. I think certain ships like this should be behind a small paywall. Just my personal opinion. This kind of events make it ”common”.

I want this ship, but plan on firing HE and AP out of the main guns, AP mainly at Cruisers only. AL Bismarck is probably the best commander for this ship because of her unique skill works well with the extra Secondary range. A Secondary build is probably viable on this ship. Try AL Bismarck with Hipper and Sims as Inspirations. Update, I got six 🎃 crates, got the ship, and the build worked for me. AP Wrecked a Baltimore and the Secondaries were stupid accurate at 10 km.

Next to the Bismarck and Tirptz the Scharnhorst and her sister Gneisenau are my favorite German ships. In real life they were a terror on the sea, very effective surface raiders, they even managed to sink a aircraft carrier and her destroyer escorts.

@@177SCmaro I disagree but my experiences with Gneisenau are different. I think the best way to make it work is as a close-range brawler which is what that speed you mentioned is for. 5-8 km's is where the Gneisenau can shine, especially in tight places on the map. I use a speed/agility build similar to what VII Hipper showcased a few years ago, which changed my initial perception of the ship. My build is Sheer (16/3) Guepratte (16/2) and AL Baltimore (16/2).

I have to be honest. I have the tier 6 scharnhorst. That ship has its own playstyle completely opposite to others. She isn't a tank and isn't meant to be shes a upclose. Bring it on ship. Push in, take some down, and possibly survive. Honestly the Tier 7 version doesn't allow the same playstyle so I won't be picking it up. As I've told friends before, you want Tier 7 Scharnhorst use the Tirpitz instead does the same job but better and is more suited for it. Also, honestly, Spartan find another game to play and make content on it'll help clear your mind and allows you to come back to a game.

KMS Scharnhorst was a German capital ship, alternatively described as a battleship or battlecruiser, of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine. She was the lead ship of her class, which included her sister ship Gneisenau. The ship was built at the Kriegsmarinewerft dockyard in Wilhelmshaven; she was laid down on 15 June 1935 and launched a year and four months later on 3 October 1936. Completed in January 1939, the ship was armed with a main battery of nine 28 cm (11 in) C/34 guns in three triple turrets. Plans to replace these weapons with six 38 cm (15 in) SK C/34 guns in twin turrets were never carried out. Scharnhorst and Gneisenau operated together for much of the early portion of World War II, including sorties into the Atlantic to raid British merchant shipping. During her first operation, Scharnhorst sank the armed merchant HMS Rawalpindi in a short engagement (November 1939). Scharnhorst and Gneisenau participated in Operation Weserübung (April-June 1940), the German invasion of Norway. During operations off Norway, the two ships engaged the battlecruiser HMS Renown and sank the aircraft carrier HMS Glorious as well as her escort destroyers Acasta and Ardent. In that engagement Scharnhorst achieved one of the longest-range naval gunfire hits in history. In early 1942, after British bombing raids, the two ships made the Channel Dash up the English Channel from occupied France to Germany. In early 1943, Scharnhorst joined the Bismarck-class battleship Tirpitz in Norway to interdict Allied convoys to the Soviet Union. Scharnhorst and several destroyers sortied from Norway to attack a convoy, but British naval patrols intercepted the German force. During the Battle of the North Cape (26 December 1943), the Royal Navy battleship HMS Duke of York and her escorts sank Scharnhorst. Only 36 men survived, out of a crew of 1,968. The ship is named after Gerhard Johann David von Scharnhorst, a Hanoverian-born general in service with the Prussian Army starting from 1801. As the first Chief of the Prussian General Staff, he was noted for his military theories, his reforms of the Prussian army, and his leadership during the Napoleonic Wars. Scharnhorst limited the use of corporal punishments, established promotion for merit, abolished the enrollment of foreigners, began the organization of a reserve army, and organized and simplified the military administration. Scharnhorst even has her own motto “Scharnhorst immer voran” (Scharnhorst ever onward)

might get some hate for this but Spartan you're the only one calling this ship exactly what it is underwhelming all the other you tubers seem to work for war gaming and praising the hell out of this ship. I kept hearing about it's secondaries and fast loading torps for fleet mates yet when I run into it with a Alantico or Ba Tirptiz it's get wasted easily

Honestly everyone has their playsttle and different ships are better or worse for those playstyles. I dont think anyone I'd trying to mislead anyone it's just that they feel it fits their playstyle. Personally I find it pretty mediocre but not a bad ship. It's hurt by being uptiered to tier 7
