I'm glad you explained a little bit about Spawn at the beginning because I was very unfamiliar with him as a character. It's funny you mention DMC as the enemies kinda reminded me of a mix between that and Onimusha. Collecting the comic book covers would be sick, I love little trinkets like that. Wow, a 42-minute level for the great GCG... yikes like you said I'd be pissed too if I died at the end. Some of these enemies are a bit questionable.... they really take the saying "be nasty" to heart. I'll check this one out for sure if I come across it. Great review buddy!

Glad you found the brief character intro to be informative! Yeah, the game is heavily based on DMC’s gameplay design, and for a Spawn game, that’s a great direction to go. Definitely some “nasty” enemies lol. Glad you enjoyed the review man!

This is one of the first Mature titles i ever played. I remember watching my dad and older brother play through this game . Still a guilty pleasure ngl

I got into the comics really young mom took me and my brother to get a few games after Christmas saw this game and my mom bought it just because I had a big stack of spawn comics I bought from my neighbors if I hadn't had those I don't think my mom would've bought it for me it was one of my favorite ps2 games till a friend introduced me to rachet and clank I'd love a new spawn game like this but with improvements this game needed like combat balancing and variation

Great review. One small mistake. Keith David was the voice of Spawn in the animated series. In Armageddon, KEVIN Michael Richardson was the credited Spawn voice. He also provided additional voices for the animated series.

While I can’t imagine ever wanting to play this title, it is admiral that the developers brought this to the GameCube. This is clearly a mature title from a dark series. It continues to show the large quantity of mature-rated titles Nintendo was willing to have released during this generation. Ironically enough, I believe we are now experiencing that again in the Switch generation with multiple 3rd party mature-rated titles on or heading to the Switch. Nice video!

Nintendo has always tried to bring in some mature themed games to every one of their consoles, even nes and snes. Wii had manhunt 2 for example. Wii u has bayonetta and when they made bayonette a nintendo exclusive franchise with bayonetta 2, aswell they brought in the arkham batman games.

I want this game lol. Great video and I was almost certain at some point a camera angle situation would come up. I think this is one I could really enjoy, was kinda bummed to hear you don’t have infinite bullets though. Either way this looks to be a solid game. Need to check eBay now lol. Awesome my friend! Hope you're able to get it for a reasonable price man! Yeah, the camera definitely has some issues at times, and the lack of infinite ammo (or even ample ammo) is a bummer. Overall though, definitely a fun game! Glad you enjoyed the review man!

Spawn is a freaking badass and Armageddon is awesome despite its issues. I would love to get In the Demon’s Hand on Dreamcast but I found this game on PS2 at a Flea Market for $10. Usually goes for $35-45 CiB. Great Review as always.

Spawn is definitely a badass character, and like you said, even despite the issues, the game is really enjoyable! I have In the Demon's Hand on Dreamcast, and that's my second favorite Spawn game (although I wish you could use the analog stick instead of the D-Pad to move in that game lol). Good find getting this game for $10! Glad you enjoyed the review man!

@@dr.papadopolis7171 Dreamcast has Spawn in the Demon’s Hand which I heard is an awesome game that I’m hoping to get my hands on soon. PS2, Xbox, and GameCube have Spawn Armageddon which is really good although it’s best on PS2. If I played Spawn in the Demon’s Hand I would say that it’s the best one but it’s really your own judgment.

Told you I'd watch this after we chatted about this on Heaps stream :P This actually looks quite alright, about the same level as In the Demon's Hand on Dreamcast - by no means the best of its class, but a solid time. Interesting it reminds you of DMC2, which most people despise lol (haven't played it yet myself). The only thing which worried me is that it's made by Point of View - who also developed that woeful Scorpion King game on PS2/GC 😬 not sure if you've covered that one before? Great stuff, tempted to dig out my PS2 copy and try this game out!

Haha you did! In the Demon’s Hand was solid too…but couldn’t believe you couldn’t use the analog stick for movement! I do say it reminds me of DMC2, but not in a bad way. As much as DMC2 is the weaker installment of the PS2 trilogy, it was still a guilty pleasure of mine lol. I never played Scorpion King, but that is one I will review at some point. It’s been a long time since I’ve done a review, and plan to come back to those soon 👍. Definitely a fun game to play if you have it already (and perfect with Halloween approaching). Spawn as a character is very interesting to me. He is the actual OG anti-hero if ya ask me. I loved watching the animated series mostly. As a game, if they can get it close to a Devil May Cry 1 mechanics with say…. the graphics of Spider-Man remastered on the PS5 (just for you to visualise what I am saying) a new “Mature rated” release of the game might do pretty well. Great review man, good start to Spooktober over here😄

Haha no worries at all man! It's definitely a fun Devil May Cry clone, and one that the GameCube needed. While it has its faults, there's no denying that it's a fun time from start to finish. “Or is it best staying in Hell?!” Love it! Haha Man I love this game! First played it on PS2 when a friend of mine gave me his copy. Is it perfect? No. But it’s a lot of fun! I agree that it was a missed opportunity for upgrades. Collecting the Souls was a nice touch though. I’m noticing a trend with games of that time in the aspect haha The biggest gripe I had was the repetitive battle. Enemy type changes and are very drivers but the fights felt the same due to lack of combos and more abilities. The graphics are absolutely beautiful for a comic book from its time! And yes! The music! Soooo gooood! I don’t remember the camera issue while playing on the PS2, however I’m sure it was there lol All in all great game. Solid review brother!

Haha glad you liked the intro line! Yeah, it definitely has some issues here and there, and the combat did lack variety for sure, but it was easily my favorite Spawn game. It was just as enjoyable replaying it now, as it was almost 20 years ago! Glad you enjoyed the review man!

The closest thing we got would probably be the Batman Arkham series (3rd person view + flowing cape). It would be cool to see Spawn kill his enemies with chains and guns (something too gory for Batman).

@@GameCubeGalaxy My pleasure. It's always great to look into some underrated games to see if their gameplay mechanics could stand toe-to-toe against today's modern games like Dark Souls or DMC. I heard Ghost Rider for PS2 was a pretty good God-of-War clone. Battalion Wars seems like another interesting franchise which could do well on the Switch today. External Darkness: Sanity's Requiem has that "dark, brownish horror vibe" (The Suffering, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame) which not many games today have. I would like to love to see a sequel to that one. Thank god Fatal Frame 5 is coming out soon, although I would love to see a remastered trilogy + 4 also.

Unfortunately, Spawn Armageddon is very mid overall. It has really good production values, but the gameplay itself, is very standard. Spawn has an incredibly limited move set, while the gameplay is just "walls come up, defeat X amount of bad guys, walls come down, move on". Lather, rinse, repeat. Developer Point Of View were much better at ports then they were at developing new IP's and or licensed based products. They had an INCREDIBLY good working relationship with Midway as they did an absolute TON of ports for them. Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Spy Hunter, numerous NFL Blitz games, Ready 2 Rumble 1 & 2, Rampage, TNA Impact Wrestling, Freaky Flyers, etc. Shame neither P.O.V & Midway are no longer around.
