The problem with Concord is that Sony likely wanted to cancel it when they were canceling all the live service games. When Naughty Dog canceled the live service for The Last of Us, this likely would have been on the chopping block. My guess is that they decided not to based on how close to release it was, and that is the only reason it didn't get canceled. Had Concord still been 2 or 3 years away, I guarantee Sony would have scrapped it. The studio behind it probably had to push the angle: "We can have it out this year." Whether it is polished or not is a different story.

@lutherheggs451 I don't know anything about Frag Punk (never even heard of it). I only have a PS5. Not really a fan of 5v5 games or basically any online game. Just pointing out what I see with Sony and the live service industry. I am not saying that there isn't a market for that kind of game, because Overwatch pretty much proves there is. At the same time, I am not surprised that people aren't really interested in another 5v5 game when there already exists a couple titles in that genre. Sony is just way too late to catch that trend, in my opinion.

Microsoft should never tell anyone that a Banjo game is in development until it's ready. Similar to how Banjo Kazooie itself started off as something different and when the game started to come together they realized it didn't work with The characters they already had so they redesign the characters and setting to match what the game had become. They famously didn't do this for Nuts and Bolts likely because it had already been announced as a Banjo game. I've seen many people agree that if that had been a new IP it would have been much more successful. They should do that here, waiting for the game to be done enough to decide if it feels like a banjo kazooie game.

In reality, they wouldn’t be replacing the developers. The developers would be using them as tools to speed up the process at the end of the day it would still be the developers project. AI is not a weapon for a means of replacement, but instead a tool used to enhance. Even in the film and TV hand just business industry 99.9% of the time we see generative AI he wasn’t done by some corporate head it was done by the art department because most companies have em But you should have no concerns of seeing a AAA title completely made by. Ai anytime soon. Because that technology is so far away it’s not currently feasible. The most they can replace like 2% of their staff. That’s still not happening.

Then you are missing the point. I don’t think anyone that is serious about game development is genuinely thinking about using AI 100% to create a game. AI, when used correctly and not halfarsed to only be shoehorned into game development is a useful tool to have at your disposal. AI should only be used in game development to assist with coding and other related work within areas like pattern recognition, logic, and maybe to even help with choices and dialogue options when it comes to those massive open world games with a lot of choices and consequences. You are mistaking AI straight up doing all the work, hence eliminating all creative thinking and freedom with using AI as a side tool only when necessary.

My speculation on what the Switch successor will be: A new SKU Switch with upgraded graphical horsepower (minor) and a few quality of life upgrades to the joycons. The real "upgrade" is in the dock/home-console (where the real graphical horsepower uplift resides). And here's the twist / gimmick I'm not seeing anyone else consider: The handheld switch does not need to be docked to play in TV mode. In fact, you'll have a "new" controller option of using / pairing ANY SKU Switch (Switch-2, or original / oled / lite) to the console and use it like the Wii-U gamepad. You'll be able to pair up to 4 switch's simultaneously to 1 console for multiplayer games. The Switch-2 compatible game cartridge goes in the console (TV connected side) and the paired Switches just become A/V connected controllers that don'tall each require the game cartridge. So imagine the best parts of the Wii-U, the 3DS, and the current gen Switch, all wrapped into 1 ecosystem. This also solves the backwards compatibility vs DRM dilemma. They don't abandon current gen games compatibility on the new hardware (combo of hardware), and they give a reason to keep selling their current gen/SKU Switches right into and beyond release day of the Switch-2. Nintendo always creates a new gimmick. I think this is the most plausible one they can pull off for maximum "new purchases + previous gen maintenance".

Do you even have a clue about what you are talking about? Sure, for a multi billionaire corporation like Nintendo, they can afford to not include AI. But, with a more objective view to the matter, AI can be a good tool for rapid prototyping or a way to get over a block that smaller devs can’t get over. If you're a small independent developer and you don't care or can’t afford to care much about the potential copyright or quality concerns you could choose to put generated assets into production and development, but it is a double edged sword because due to mentality like yours, we are not at a stage yet where the wider population can actually appreciate the nuances of AI and the advantages it can bring as the technology advances and gets better. I admit, AI is never going to be a replacement for pure talented human beings but it can be a quick shortcut for smaller devs if they do need it.

@@cbgg1585 GenAI has no place in any creative space or game development period. GenAI (generative AI) is used to make sloppy "art", and none of that is actually useful. When people say "AI", people mean that. Those crappy videos and pictures, etc. Do you want your next game to feature characters with limbs suddenly phasing in and out of existence, and cutscenes where character's eyes suddenly sink into their skull with effects that look like they were glazed over with 100 layers of oil? That's GenAI for you. Every image it produces has the "factory lighting" that looks VERY unnatural. It has no place in game dev or any creative field. If you think it does, you absolutely have no idea what you're talking about and are just trying to sell people the next tech trend, which is what this is. Tech fad. It doesn't even save time. Speaking from experience. Worked with a prompter. He was told 20 separate times to make revisions, and kept delivering the same type of things, but sometimes those things randomly also included objects that were never requested. He got angry when told it's not good, and then got FIRED. Yeah. That's your "future", just wasting time and money when actual people and actual artists can actually make things FASTER.

Dumping all the ABK games on Game Pass they can in one go is a terrible idea. Mostly because of choice paralysis, if you have too many options you won't end up playing anything. Also you'll realise how little ABK actually puts out that they have control over from the past 10 years or so. The majority of their licenses have expired and for the past 5 years it's only been CoD, Crash, Spyro, Tony Hawk and Seikiro from Activision with Seikiro being a publishing deal outside of Japan. Blizzard is Overwatch and Diablo outside of PC, then King is almost exclusively mobile games.

Ever since Banjo got in Smash Bros there has been more and more people asking for a new game or at least a remake, it kinda sucks that Microsoft didn't take the chance while the hype was higher

Problem is, what a lot of people like about banjo prob wouldnt make it into today’s games. The dirty/sus humor made these old games so good but we dont really see that anymore since everyone’s so damn sensitive. Old banjo, ratchet, sly, jak all had crude fun humor and now the ones that survived all seem so…. Family friendly and lacking in that humor.

@@G360LIVE god i wish theyd do more, i still go back and play older games and i genuine have more fun, and its not nostalgia since a bunch i didnt play till i was an adult. But you know how companies are and trying to keep a good public look etc… smaller companies dont tend to have this issue at least. I wish more companies stopped caring about the loud minority and focused on the majority who want the games, but who knows, maybe their sales show that the games we want dont sell great and thats the real reason.

They’re better off selling it to Nintendo. Xbox fans wouldn’t support it anyway. What I don’t get is why people want it back at all. It’s an antiquated franchise and if you really wanted to play a new one so badly Yoka Laylee exists.

@@OtakuUnderground92 connection to characters i guess, themes too. Like if insomniac made a new game that was essentially ratchet and clank but without them, you lose that built up connection. If youre a first time player then it wont matter. Not saying the other games are bad but having your favorite characters in their built up weird world is nice.

Blue Dragon is pretty underwhelming... Lost Odyssey on the otherhand.. That is an absolute masterpiece and 100% needs to be ported. Same with The Last Story.

I think Mistwalker and Nintendo had a terrible falling out, so that is unlikely for them to return to that game.

I honestly think they would be dumb not to do this and I could see something where they design a hub world around every single Call of Duty game you have to download Warzone to get the other Call of Duty games through Game Pass. Otherwise it could just take interest away from the latest game and Warzone. They’ve already done this with the latest games. I wouldn’t doubt if that’s the plan to integrate them all and you just choose what to install.

Doesn't microsoft own the IP of blue dragon & lost odyssey? This new Square partnership isn't going to help much with those. Him having no interest in it doens't mean it will never happen tho. You don't really need the original creator to port a game to recent hardware.

As a person who played a lot of Endless Ocean Luminous... it was immediately apparent that the voice of the A.I. assistant in the game's story... is an actual A.I. voice template from the real world... I recognized it because I've used some A.I. voice creation tools before.
