I think kidnappings are good for the babies, it toughens them up and increases their chances of survival, the babies are way too clingy to their moms and nurse way too much, if the babies don't become independent by 6 months then they probably won't survive cause in many cases the over nursing causes Infections to mothers and they die to leave their weak babies to die cause they never learned how to be independent, u can tell which babies will survive and which won't and that baby probably won't, they aren't humans, u can't coddle and spoil them and expect them to be OK, they are wild animals and being tough on them is the best thing u can do, the fathers should take a larger role in parenting. Taking the babies away from mom and giving mom a break is a good thing, I never knew monkeys were so weak

That's when I read up about it and it said where they can bleed off & on anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks or even a little longer than that. I have said this on other Bertha videos, but as disgusting and wrong as this seems to us, as humans, as a vet, I can tell you that this is a common behavior amongst monkeys. When an infant monkey appears to be constipated, this is the tactic used in order to stimulate a bowel movement. In this case, a young, new mother has taken her constipated baby to a more experienced and dominant female in the troop (Bertha) for help. By watching Bertha, the mother is able to learn what to do, and the baby is getting the help they believe it needs. Although it seems vile to us, this is just the kind instinctual, primal behavior we regularly see throughout many facets of nature!

Baby monkey isn't mad about not being with mom, just that it can't get any nip. And mom was like, be my guest, you deal with him/her for a while. Studies done amongst captive bred rhesus macaques determined that infant monkeys are incapable of differentiating between their mother and other females until they're 6 months of age. I'm now sure how that relates to crab eating macaques but I've seen some pretty small ones know they've been kidnapped. Then again, sometimes it's difficult to determine their age given the fact that older females tend to have longer gestational periods and give birth to more developed infants.

I've often seen monkeys like Bertha kidnapping children in movies just to show their dominance. Initially, the kidnappers started grooming a child or mother, who could not object, because she was a lower rank. I have never seen children not knowing they were kidnapped and not recognizing their mothers. Unless such newborns, up to several days old - I do not know. However, this is the second time I see a child who wants to drink the kidnapper's milk.

Hey guys don't worry about Amara she has learned to be agressive when she wants something and since Big Bertha has milk she will fight to get some of that milk, even if Big Bertha doesn't want her to have it. Too bad. That's why Amara went to Big Bertha big boobs big milk, the problem is Sumara is an old mom and may not have a great deal of milk and that's why Amara strays away from her, but because Amara has been kidnapped so many times she is now very milk agressive and only time will tell how that will turn out.
