Suggestion on bodywork if you haven't already thought of or tried, make it a two person job. One for cutting and the other to try and keep a shop-vac hose as close as possible to suck up as much debris as possible. Might make filming a little harder but can keep things cleaner.

I chuckle every time you point out something not perfect on the car. My eyes can never see it. Guess that is true of all builds. The owner can always see the issues, while everyone else sees the amazingness.

Amazing how the boommat changes the sound of the closing doors, even with the variable of the mic in your cameras and how difficult it is for it to come out close to 100% real through speakers.... definitivelly improved!

Some head units have a switch on the back to change the search range for the radio. Check it out, can't hurt! Otherwise a Bluetooth radio interface could be the best bet. Keep it all OEM 😉

Yo, try folding some boommat next time so that you can get it on the inside of the door skin. Works wonders!You can even pull off the boommat over the opening for a second to add one small patch on the inside of the outside skin!

Extend the panels underneath the front with similar plastic. Use oem clips and speed clips with screws. If you`re ocd about it.
For those speakers you want to put a foam gasket to get the absolute best out of them. Not necessary and it’s not something you might notice but just dampens the vibrations going to the door just a bit so that the speakers are making the noise and not the door lol

For the intercooler fitment you can get away without trimming the front bumper if you lean the core a bit bringing the bottom towards the engine, this creates enough space. I did this on my S15 Spec-R Aero and I have fog lights too which also clear
@speedacademy Жыл бұрын
Except you have to shorten the hotside IC pipe as its a specific length and wont fit in the hole that it sits in on the chassis.
@LloydBarker93 Жыл бұрын
@@speedacademy yeah that's correct. This it what I did then had a new bead welded on, much better than trimming a factory aero bumper for sure. Loving this series, nice to see so many things done well

The interior is looking beautiful! However, I strongly recommend protecting the dash and any plastic trim pieces with some sort of trim restorer. For older cars, I personally use Meguiar’s Ultimate Protectant as old 80’s dashes really look good when glossy, however for newer dashes if you want a more matte finish, you can use Armor All Original protectant or Armor All Matte protectant. Coating your dash will really protect it from UV rays, keeping it from cracking and keep it looking good, but it will probably also help restore the older plastics and make them match the newer ones, like the new centre console which is a slightly different shade to the old dash. Overall, loving the builds!
Looks awesome Idk about the sound deadening on the doors for serviceability. If you need to change glass or a window regulator I guess you’d need to redo the sound deadening again.

Pretty sure if i remember correctly theres a loop in the number 1 coil wiring at the back of the head for timing light hookup. In the coil loom itself. Looked like some bubbles out of the radiator when you revved it as well, hopefully nothing to worry about. Loving the build, ive been through a few Silvias including a grey Spec R S15 like this but not nearly as nice!
@speedacademy Жыл бұрын
I explained that the loop in the back is not a reliable place to pickup the spark signal. The best is the way I did it. Yes, thats the reason to let it fully warm up and rev it a bunch, that clears any bubbles in the system.

Such a clean and beautiful build. I’m surprised you didn’t throw down some sound deadening along the floor while the interior was totally apart but on the other hand, weight savings lol.
Id bridge that gap from the undertray to the bumper with some thin plastic. Cheap enough to pickup!

Feel your pain on front mounts and trimming. When I first turbo'd my FTO with a Galant VR4 engine, I just bought a cheapo universal 600x300x76 core because I knew it would "fit". But because the mouth of the facelift front bumper is so deep, it needed a fairly big radius cut from either side to clear the pipes, which worked functionally, but even the mesh didn't fit any more. Now I'm redoing the setup and attempting to use the factory plastic ducting and put a custom made cooler inside it while keeping it out of the way of the inner bumper.

Don’t short change yourself, make some closing panels for the fender liners to bumper cover and bellow the intercooler, for two reasons, you want the air to go,through the intercooler and radiator pack, with the large gap, air will just take the route of least resistance and bypass all the rads and worse still possibly cause lift. Also I am you will find your under trays and fender liners will get ripped off when you go north 100mph… the force over panels that size is immense. Just do it right, use alloy sheet or some black plastic sheet like thick vinyl which can be heated and shaped some what.
@PeterPangea Жыл бұрын
For the doors, you wanna line the door skins with the boommat as they'll act as a mass dampener to get rid of the "drumminess". Only need like 70% coverage to get thr full effect. I did it on my rx8 and the door has that nice solid sound when you tap on it now
@aDaWaN Жыл бұрын
Yeah agreed. Putting patches of boommat on the biggest flat surface of the doorskin has the largest effect on dampening. The inside is a pretty stiff structure and should not need much dampening.

i think you could get a flat piece of metal or hard plastic and make a front stone tray to fill in the gaps. mount it onto the intercool bracket bolts at the back. would also help force the air into the cooler. kinda silly they don't make one. also they should have designed the intercool with slightly angled outlets to help avoid contacting the bumpers. see if you can buy new seat skins from nissan.

Definitely think you made the right call with the bumper cuts, nobody will notice it that isn't looking for exactly that. And yeaaaah, screw fiberglass dust lol. I forgot to put my mask back on after a break cutting, my lungs felt heavy for a week. Also "everything was stripped" is like the story of my life with the R32. Might as well call the garage the strip club. Also also, Dave's face when cleaning... the thing. xD Holy moly that interior is a beaut and the exhaust sounds minty! Perfect street car. /short story
