Installed this kit yesterday on my 2.7. Took about 4 hours by myself using just front-end ramps. Found out Ford only put one turbo gasket in. After taking out the old down pipe assembly only one gasket fell out. Good thing i already ordered the replacement hardware for a turbo that i ended up not having to do so i had two new gaskets on hand. Also had a seized turbo stud that came off of the turbo with the nut. Btw the outboard passenger turbo stud nut is a total pain to take off especially if its rusted. A deep well cannot fit as it jams up against the engine wall. I was not able to get a socket on that even with a swivel head. Had to take it off through the wheel well with a ratchet wrench. Had an extra stud and nut of too, again for the turbo replacement i was going to do but didn't. I get a good meh whistle but only after a rev and spool down in the driveway. I am definitely not getting the type of whistle note you hear on the 3.5L SPD video of the black F150 in the snow taxing by the camera that basically sounds like a cummins diesel deuce and half. I have a Turbosmart BOV, Injen CAI, tuned to 93 Octane, and upgraded intercooler. To be honest i hear the turbos more from the engine bay because of the injen intake and the flutter more than the whistle so that's disappointing with this kit. The whistle is there but its not "Insane LOUD" like the advert states. Definitely does not sound like the other trucks (black 3.5L) in their video that sounds like a blasted turbo-fan jet engine taxing by. I understand they are different engines but are you telling me that a .8L difference in displacement is the difference between a meh whistle you can barely hear on the 2.7 and the insane turbo-fan jet engine whistle on the 3.5 (at least what is being shown to us)? I find that hard to believe. Considering how this was marketed (insane turbo whistle) even for 2.7L, I'm not sure the 3.5 shown is real either unless there are other mods made to it that SPD is not telling us about or if they are intentionally being deceitful.

This is a 2.7 and you can’t hear it much in the cab unless you have all the windows down but you can hear it out side

@@swrvtech ok. Yeah I’m not sure why all these videos floating around make these eco boost trucks sound like jets. Call me gullible ok shame on me. I just figured a company who is in research and development of exhaust systems would have legit products. You would also think a company who claims to pride itself in performance wouldn’t be misleading possibly even as far as deceiving as it seems they are being. WTH?

@@swrvtech UPDATE: not sure if the new exhaust system needed to be broken in or after I got a tune from Lund but the whistle is now at a satisfactory level for my liking. Totally legit!!

Yes the cats need to be broken in, I believe it’s 5 minutes at 3k rpm then cool down

Wish they had an option for duals, that would be nice. Wish they made this setup for the 2019 2.7L.

Not a fan of chambered muffler and the loss in power that comes from them. Good job at swapping it yourself though!

Since the install, have you seen any improvements in MPGs? or general performance?

It pulls a little stronger and if I drive easy I get 19mpg instead of 17mpg with the oil soaked cats and factory muffler

Its a chambeed muffler, I doubt it. Take a leaf blower to it and see how restrictive it is. The OE muffler out flows it.

I have a blow off valve and 33 inch tires on my 2019 2.7 and I get 15 mpg 😂

There’s no adapters it bolts directly to the turbos with the factory donut gasket

@@swrvtech That's weird, the kit from SPD shows the adapters, gaskets, and stud replacement hardware as part of the whistle package. Did you get the whistle package or did you buy the downpipes and cat back separately? Wouldn't want to get cheated out of the parts that are supposed to come with a 1700 dollar package.

Certain speeds it’s bad honestly, I have a stage 2 resonator I put in but it took a lot of the turbo sound out so I took it back out and just drive slower or faster to avoid it. Also if someone is in the back seat they can’t hear people in the front seat… have to let off the gas to talk lol

@@StephenM-zd5vw I have not but they also told me that my truck should not drone and the guy I talked to said he was the one driving the truck in the videos after they designed it and it never droned so they asked for a bunch of pictures of it installed to see if maybe the muffler broke inside or something
