If you have taken public speaking training with Toast Masters International, they specifically recommend that you don’t use these discourse marker um, uh, you know, like, as much as possible. We even have people in the meetings count how many times we say um and uh. Of course, in daily conversations, the use of discourse marker makes your speech more natural, but it should be something that comes naturally than being learned.

@columbus8myhw4 жыл бұрын
The "I haven't" part isn't enunciated very well. It's almost like the 'v', 'n', 't', and 'b' (of "been") all combined into a 'mp' sound because he's talking quickly. (And in pain)

The content is so informative. But you said that "um" is not the grammatical part of a sentence. As far as I know "um" is like an interjection which is a part of English grammar. Then how it could not be a part of grammar in a sentence. I'm confused, could you please clarify about it?
