Loved the breakdown in the dog pronunciation. I am in the Midwest so I see how natives can hear if someone is from the midwest etc. I've only been able to hear Southern vs not . But yep despite the fact the ah is the *only* a sound in my native, there was a temptation to round upon seeing the o ( which only has a short oh sound for us). I now hear all these errors in my dual citizen adult conationals that I was inadvertently making. I irritate my mom to no end when I correct her pronunciation. 😂

Meteorology :) yep my native is the only purely phonetic language with the Latin alphabet. This means I have always had flawless command of spelling. Alas I missed the native accent acquisition window since I was 9 when we moved to NYC. At my old age I've decided to see if I can reduce the despicable foreign accent.

Hi there, are both CHAYNjiz and CHAINjiz correct alternative spellings for CHANGES?
@SpeechModificationАй бұрын
Yes, the letter A in "changes" says /eɪ/, which we normally spell with ay, ai or a + e.

How to pronounce “promptly” ? The “p-t”is difficult to pronounce in this word😵💫
@SpeechModificationАй бұрын
Hi, yes, we tend to use an unreleased p and drop the /t/ in that word. When we say "prompt" we drop the /p/ and say "promt" with a short duration m sound. In "promptly" it sounds like "Prom(p)ly." I can cover the word for you in a future video. In the meantime, I talk about a similar unreleased /p/ in the word "helpful" in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGbQnYGdjcmcmJIsi=16kB-cYu95ns7lBh

Does the “t” at the end of “prompt” need to be pronounced ? Or, like “promptly”, drop it?
@SpeechModification25 күн бұрын
We usually say the t in "prompt" because words ending in st, lt, mt etc. we say the /t/ sound.

Oh,I'm even more confused🤔. If possible , please include both “prompt” and “promptly” in the same video, maybe that will help me understand the pronunciation difference of the /t/ in these two words.🙏🙏
