speak no evil - the director said in an interview that he was trying to show what happenes when you are ''too polite''. This etiquet of, being nice and unconfrontational. The bad couple was testing boundaries constantly, at any moment the couple could have said something or left. But they didn't want to be seen as rude. That's why they said ''you let us''. Because, in a sick way, they did allow the boundaries to be crossed. That's why this movie was so disturbing for me. I know people who would not say anything and indure. It even would have taken me time to get upset and put my foot down and leave. This felt so real.
@RS-fy9hb2 ай бұрын
I feel like this movie overexaggerated the inclination towards politeness for dramatic effect. And a dramatic effect it had! I was so incredibly frustrated throughout. I would personally also allow several boundaries to be crossed, but most people draw the line when it comes to disrespect towards significant others, and that'd be my personal saving grace in any situation like this. Also, I was so unprepared for this movie, I didn't even know they were gonna speak danish, and audibly gasped, because it's so rare to see an international audience see anything related to Denmark in general, outside of like, wind mills xD.

The music during the beautiful scenes invoked the boredom and despair of the boring life and the fall to actuate and mystery maybe even attraction to the other couple. Like all scammers in a way they justify it because the victims “wanted it” In their sick minds. It’s a lot and deep but also in laity shows the stupidity of the decisions there’s a lot of layers.

This is a real gut-punch of a film and it really drives home how dangerous it is to stay quiet and just go along with things, even when everything feels wrong. The Mum ignored her intuition early on when she left her daughter alone with an unknown babysitter, but she chose to drink instead of responding to the red flags. She even ignores her daughter’s cries during an intimate moment with her husband, and I think she did this because, for just a second, she wanted to focus on herself-seeing how passionate their hosts were with each other and wanting that passion back with her husband. But the next day, she’s made to feel guilty about this, which I believe only pushes her deeper into the crippling position of not speaking out against the wrongs she’s witnessing, instead choosing to stay to try and make the awkward weekend work. And when the dad discovers the horrific truth, I couldn’t believe he didn’t warn his family-he just stayed silent, something he always did. Then when the worst happens and both parents completely freeze, I found it sooo frustrating to watch as they totally lost the will to fight back, trapped by their own fear. By the end, I was left thinking they hadn’t learned anything-they were just as passive as they were at the start. This movie brutally forces us to confront how easily we can all slip into inaction, even when we know we shouldn’t.

So knowing this I knew the characters in the film would not act like people but as conduits of a point.

I really like this movie: first of all, this looming feeling of a disaster, second of all, it made me think about my own ways of thinking..gotta prioritize myself over being polite and convenient to others. obviously the situation in the movie is exaggerated but we all know that most of us sometimes agree to something we don't necessarily want. It's also interesting how the dutch dad tested the danish dad first by asking for a chair..they clearly were using it, but he still gave it away just to be polite!
@fullmoon_O2 ай бұрын
They were pushing since the moment he asked for the chair that was clearly occupied, that's how the evil husband identified the other guy as a submissive person. The evil couple was testing the other couple limits through vacation and the weekend at their house. With a weak husband/father the family is doomed, the mom didn't listened to her intuition since they kinda forced her to eat the meat and when the guy admitted he lied about being a doctor, and the beta husband never stood up for his family, forcing his child to stay with a unknown male babysitter, dancing with the kid when she was already scared of the evil dad... This film is definitely brutal, you just end up hopeless for the child. But it has a great lesson for sure. Protect your family, stand for them, set your limits, and follow your instincts

As a single dad of 3 young daughters that are my everything, I got S0 furious at these 2 parents seeing red flags and their parental instincts telling them to leave but they stay again and again putting their little girl in danger! My daughters are the most important, above anything else in my life and keeping them safe is absolute priority, I’d of NEVER left my girls home with some male babysitter I don’t know, and when they finally knew about the deaths, to imagine NOT fighting with all you have to not go back to the house where they killed the other couple and kidnapped their child chopping his tongue off , KNOWING that , you KNOW that is your fate if you don’t fight , thst your child will end up with serial killers abused!! On the drive back when the man was driving , husband next to him and wife and daughter in back , he’s immobile as driver , he can’t just stop driving at 60mph and fight back with both hands so they should have decided the moment he’s up to speed husband should have turned to him and swung at hard as he could at his temple and jaw square up on him get up on his knee so he’s elevated and swing as hard and fast as you can over and over both fists nonstop , a driver couldn’t defend his head sufficiently until he gets the car to a stop and gets out so you go ape $hit on him and by the time he gets the car to a stop, any human with 30 blows to the head repeatedly bare fisted will be concused, their equilibrium will be badly stunned and completely off for at least a few minutes , they’ll feel horribly dizzy , vision will close in and fog , everything will feel like it’s spinning or rocking so they won’t be able to defend themselves or get out and run away etc. I boxed Golden Glove for 16 years and you achieve knockouts by landing enough hits to their head to stun their inner ear and literaly bounce their brain agasint their skull with each hit, even with boxing gloves the human brain can’t handle more than a few full power bare fisted hits to the head , their vision will rapidly close in and the brain puts them unconscious to try to stop whatever’s is causing the brain trauma , by the time he comes to a stop any average male could get enough hits to the head bare fisted to incapacitate another male , if not passed out they’ll try to get out to be able to square up with you but will be so unbalanced , on the verge of passing out they’ll be useless for a good 60 seconds so if they try to get out you elevate and hug him from behind put him in a choke hold and he won’t be able to get out and will quickly pass out , if he gets out you get out faster , to wife too and you both go absolute ape shit on him fists kicks and you do not stop until he’s been unconscious for a good 2 minutes and you keep going to make sure he’s not getting up! Your wife in the back should literally be doing. The same dog her nails into his eyes from the back seat punch his head and don’t stop .as the driver at speed a solo passenger can incapacitate a driver by the time the car vimes to a stop, THAT IS YOUR BEST CHANce!! only other is yanl that steering wheel suddebly throw his car into trees or off the road and beat te hell out of him before he gwts out. i listen to a ton of true crime because its fascinating to me but also because its shown me endless examples of horriffic mursers and kidnappings that occure on a million different scenarios and happen every hour of every day in the US. its shown me none of the victims surely evwr thought itd hapoen to them, but the most common main factor that seala their fate is not doing anything out of fear or thinking it may change their minds, NO, as ive told my daughters if a man ever tells you to vome to his car or else, 100% of the time you scream at top of lungs fight run, if u end up in the car you becime an impossible problem kicking punching scratching akd jump out the car even moving . THOSE that are killed are got to a secluded space or thwir house etc where noome can help and they can get out amd handle you, you fight second 1 that youre in a car becasue if toure being kidnappef taken somewhere you are likely bieng assaulted and murdered so fight when you have tye advantage and immidately and dont stop! he saw the dead bodies, saw that their son was the killed parents kid and tongue cut out, they are serial killers ajd your child is going tk suffer the same fate, they are going ti torture and kill you, your wife and daughter if you dont stop itso you absolutely destroy him immediately and you make sure hes dead becasue you will be if not. the fact he knew this all and was willing to to drove back to the kill house, wife ajd daufher in car and make no effort ro at least save their lives!! a grown average male fighting for his life swinging kicking cheap fighting as hard fast and relentleasly can overwhelm a fit male unable to protect the head for 10-20 seconds! umderstand that moment is your last chance of survival, umdwrstand its your beat chance to save the lives of your spouse and kids and NO other opportunities will come up once back at tye target ajd tied up . prordct yourselves, women fight with all you have, gauge hisbeyea out kick his balls nonstop till you get away dont go along with him out of fear or hoping being cooperstive will aet you free, it jsut makes it best case scenario for him and you arent going himd

Just watched the other version of Speak No Evil and it’s very different than the original. The original is always going to be the win 🥇

Yeah, I was a little put off that there's an American version already. I'm glad I watched the Danish one first

Does the YT membership have different perks from Patreon? Or is it like I could do either/or for the experience? I can only afford one or the other, so I’m genuinely asking!
@thehorrorbandwagon2 ай бұрын
Hey! So for KZbin memberships its geared more towards exclusive livestreams and will have some of the movie watch alongs (Speak No Evil is in both platforms) while Patreon will pretty much have everything else (Plus the watch alongs for Buffy, Charmed and Angel - we just started showing Picture in Picture) Happy to have ya in either! 😊

15:22 that moment made the film for me. It solidified and made it perfectly clear what this film is with its satire and humor. That evil bastards, leaving us to pay for the bill with tip included. X)X)X)

That montage was definitely needed after this film.

I'll judge them! Terrible, awful parents. If you cannot fight and kill for your child's safety then you are not a good parent. I would have to die before someone took my son from me.

Before I had kids, I could probably relate to being polite to the point of danger. HOWEVER, when my kids are involved, I absolutely found my voice to stick up for them and myself to protect my family. For example, when my daughter was like 4 or 5 maybe, we had a girls day. We went to this very large nail salon to get pedicures together. This place was huge…like 20 pedicure stations and 30 nail stations. ALL being worked by Asian women. My daughter was the only kid in there at the time. As soon as we sat down an old man came out from the back and sat down and started touching my daughters feet and legs. I was like NOPE NOPE NOPE. That’s a little too creepy for me. Why did he come out from no where to try and massage my 4 year old daughters legs? I said I didn’t want to be rude but no freaking way.

Just got out of Alien Romulus and now I’m ready to watch my favorite bears watch a horror movie 😊😊

That movie disturbed me deep down in my soul when I first watched it, which from my understanding means it was a piece of art because it elicited an emotional response. The last film that made me that uncomfortable and angry was Mother!

Thank you! I have the same feelings as you. Cause the ending could stay the same but I wish the parents fought back harder. I feel like doing so it’ll be more heart thumping and dreading. I was just frustrated towards the end cause they did everything wrong! Like you said, not shaming but like c’mon! They left without a scratch!

I just saw the new one today at an advance screening, it was really good. The kept a lot of things the same but it ends differently. The original is very hard to watch at the end 😳

My boyfriend showed me this movie a couple months ago and omg it’s absolutely frustrating and unsettling! The parents were way too trusting and didn’t follow their instincts from the beginning.

I remember watching this movie and the vibes were so uncomfy + the hopelessness / lack of fighting pissed me off soooo much 😤 would have definitely switched the ending. also, Dutch people are pretty fine haha 💗

From the looks of the trailer from the American remake it looks like the main characters are actually going to fight back but probably the last few minutes.

I'd never heard of this movie before, thanks for the reaction. That was a crazy watch and your emotions were in check, I personally wouldn't have let someone cut my daughters tough off unless I was dead. NEVER, weak / selfish parents.

It's infuriating that they don't even fight back when they understand the gravity of the situation. They are being killed by stoning!!! At least grab those stones and chuck them back! If you are dead anyways might as well try to get one of them too
@Wraiven222 ай бұрын
This is one of those movies that satirizes traits (people pleasing) for cultural reasons and you’ll either think it’s interesting or you will hate it. As a chronic people pleaser I got it (though obviously this was VERY exaggerated) and I found it very disturbing, but I get how it wouldn’t hit with most, it did for me.

Someone said this reminded them of Eden Lake (which I've been meaning to watch, so i finally did), and holy shit it pissed me off more than this one. It's starring Kelly Reilly and Michael Fassbender, and i highly recommend it
