drilling a hole for a DC barrel jack (and connecting it to the soldering pads which are meant for the buttery connection) would have made the solution way cleaner and neater, would also give a look around just to check what killed that transformer

Fair point, but I didn't want to damage the case since I see this more as a temporary solution till I can go out and get this fixed properly. The reason the transformer died was because we had some kind of a power fault in my house a while back. I forgot to mention that in the video.
