Regarding your speakers wiring: Speakers have a positive and negative side. Twin speaker cable is normally marked, either one wire with a stripe or one wire with a raised bump. It always used to be that the stripe was positive but some companies use it as negative. If you are electrically minded you can use a multi meter to check the continuity of the wires from the head unit. If not use a wiring diagram or Google to find out which wire is which on your car (each side may be different). Although speakers will work which ever way you wire them, if you wire them up wrong they will be out of phase. Being out of phase can drastically affect sound quality, including a loss of base, especially on amplified systems. This is why you sometime see a phase switch on a subwoofer. Disconnecting the head unit or the battery (which you did) isn't a bad idea as shorting out the speaker cable can blow the output stage in the head unit or pre-amp if one is fitted. To finish, wiring speakers is easy but make sure possitve goes to possitve, and negative to negative. Always check and never assume the colours or stripes. Thanks for the upload.

With connectors you can solder them a bit for better connection. For wiring you can pull out stereo and look onto the case for wiring to see where is + where is - for particulary side of the speaker pair.

Thanks Hayden, i just picked up a Corsa Vxr Arctic and the speakers sound worse than my van... so i shall be changing them and your video will come in handy i'm sure aint that much diffrence from the Corsa and the Astra?... Oh and i would love to watch you attacking it blind and learn from your mistakes lol, Cheers Mate.

This is definitely something I need to do with mine! 👏🏻 for the wiring id use heat shrink or if not that, at least insulation tape wrapped around them individually, it's good practise and better safe that sorry, don't want them shorting out 👍🏻

Yes Hayd I'm a Solihull/Birmingham Lad Fan of the channel .... You represent our area well I've got a 2012 astravan XP thinking about upgrading speakers in doors or an underseat sub Would you recommend them pioneers you fitted? Does it make a big difference ?

Hayden instead of cutting the speaker wiring connector off use the electrical spade connector it will be secured on the terminals that is how I will do it when I have the money for a project car and upgrading the speakers
@max-rf6fm5 жыл бұрын
If your thinking of upping the bhp, you need to look at upgrading the m32 bearing on the gearbox as it gets shredded over 300bhp. Nice video again pal 👍

@lewispapworth17865 жыл бұрын
Just a word of advice, the red crimps are for 1-1.5mm cable and the blue crimps are for 1.5-2.5mm cable, you should really double the cable over for the bigger crimps 👍
