Muhammad peace be upon him was an illiterate shepherd who didnt have any written words anywhere to cross reference which the christians claim he did. which proves that only Allah SWT authored the Quran because nobody else could have had the knowledge of what really happened with the earlier prophets. The whole history of the bible is everywhere for everyone to see and how it was composed .. yet they still deny the final message, the final messenger and the Author of the Quran. that is why they and the devil are KAFFir. this word does not mean unbeliever, it comes from the root word for farmer. i.e. one who takes a seed and covers it with earth. it literally means someone who hides the truth.... in time all falshhood perishes when truth comes forth. This guy loves Bart Ehrman: "You clearly haven't read Bart Ehrman." So what? Does reading Bart Ehrman's books now mean that Todd can read and compare ancient manuscripts? Of course not, he's still relying on the conclusions of people who aren't even christians. So why anyone would rely so heavily on some other guy's analysis, I don't know. He keeps asking which christian doctrine is in question based on the earliest known manuscripts, as if he himself can test that. He can't, as I doubt he can read ancient Greek. 1 John 5:7 is often disputed, as it contains the doctrine of the trinity (specifically called Comma Johanneum), while the second part is missing in a number of early Greek manuscripts: "For there are three that bear record in heaven, *the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one*." Second part is missing in many scripts. To explain this issue, christians will say that these scripts are from the eastern orthodox church and they themselves left it out of their own copies for theological reasons. Therefor, they view them as heretics, even though writers relied heavily on these same orthodox scripts. The Dutch priest and writer Erasmus produced a copy of the NT in 16th century that lacked the crucial Comma Johanneum, and he argued that he didn't find it in the Greek manuscripts that were available to him. Later he would find a script that did have it, and he was presured into changing his version, and include the verse in question. The Greek script that was produced was actually written in the same century, so that's not some early manuscript, it's contemporary to Erasmus, it's just that it was produced in the Greek language, so this is a rather fragile basis, but Erasmus reputation was on the line, and he gave in to the crapstorm that came his way by leaving out the doctrine of the trinity in 1 John 5. Erasmus furthermore had to come up with his own words in some instances because of an absence of Greek manuscripts. When christians argue that the orthodox heretics left that verse out because they didn't like it, they're assuming that it had to have been part of the original gospel. It's not historical as such, it's an assumption based on the idea that it must have been in there, cause it sounds so very christian. Also, if you look in any Bible and read the Epistle of James in the New Testament, you will find that the doctrine of the cross is completely missing. If you only had James to go by, you'd not have the crucifixion of Christ, no resurrection, and no salvation through the cross, as these ideas are not in the Epistle of James. James is in fact the most important figure in early christianity bar none, with the exception of Jesus himself of course. So why does the most important man in that timeperiod fail to include these crucial doctrines in his writing? I don't care about Paul, the gospel writers or whoever wrote Revelations: James has the highest status among any of the NT authors, and he barely even mentions Jesus in his letter. So if you want to ask muslims which doctrinal beliefs might be questioned based on early manuscripts, you (as a christian) should consider the fact that the High Priest, appointed by Jesus himself to be the leader of the believers, who is called as-Siddiq, or the Just or the righteous one, also known as the brother of Jesus; this man Yacub (James), while writing to the Jewish communities that lived in areas controled by the Empire, to explain to them what they must do in life to attain eternal life in the next world, why does this man exclude the crucifixion, resurrection and the cross all together from his writing? There's no hint of a trinity, Jesus is not divine, Jesus isn't even that important according to him. He is describing the religion that Jesus followed, he isn't telling them to follow a religion about Jesus, unlike Paul. Your 'christian' doctrines come from Paul who never met Jesus, didn't know what he looked like, never heard his voice, and was no friend of James either by the way. So why should you adhere to beliefs and ideas coming from this compromised Jew, while ignoring the real man in charge, who is James? I never get that. Who is Paul compared to James? Nobody. With his anthropomorphic, mythraic nonsense. James even tells you to be muslims in his letter, as he says that you should submit to Allah. That's what islam means, that's what muslims do. Their word for God in Aramaic was in fact Alaha. These people were obviously muslims. If these christians nowadays could've heard Jesus(as) speak, they would not understand him, but the Arabs actually would, because Arabic and Aramaic are extremely similar. The beliefs and practices of those early christians would be much more like muslim beliefs and practices, and nothing like how christians nowadays live their lives. Because James in his letter keeps repeating that the believers should follow the Laws of old. No believing that God incarnate died for your sins, no; they were to stick to the Laws revealed to the prophets of old, and that's how they'd go to paradise. Honestly, I have no idea why christians ignore this. Their own learned people have tried to get rid of the Epistle of James, because they thought it wasn't christian enough, and they are absolutely right. It's like some muslim sage wrote the letter, not a christian.

Brother Hashim is wrong about textual variants. Different books or books in one bible and not another are not textual variants. Textual variants are a copyist making deliberate or inadvertent alterations to a text that is being reproduced.

That whole passage is full of quotes which separate Jesus from the Father and go against the Trinity completely. See below... " If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness" (This is the same message all prophets gave to their nations, Why would Jesus tell the people to follow him if he was God. Do we humans have the power to follow God??? He told his people to follow him because he was human and was telling his people to follow the right path, which is his Job as a Prophet so his people can Achieve Paradise) "...but I do not judge anyone" (Only God can judge, Jesus cannot Judge). "And if I did, my judgment would be correct in every respect because I am not alone" (Jesus clearly has the backing of the Father and Jesus’s Judging will only be CORRECT because he has the backing of the father, not by himself) "The Father who sent me is with me." (Jesus is again differentiating himself from the father, The father sent him, Jesus has no power to be sent by himself) "For I say only what I have heard from the one who sent me, and he is completely truthful." (How much clearer does Jesus need to be??? He is not equal to the Father, he only says what he has HEARD FROM THE ONE WHO SENT HIM) Who is completely Truthful in this verse? Its the father!!! "I do nothing on my own but say only what the Father taught me" (This is now getting silly...even more proof that Jesus is not equal to the father in Knowledge - Jesus is nothing without the father) "For I always do what pleases him" (This is clear in showing that Jesus does what pleases the Father, he Follows the commands of the father, which is exactly what Prophets are suppose to do) "" because I have come to you from God. 28:18 first off, Hadith Thaqalayn in Sahih Muslim completely proves ur wrong, the Hadith having over 40 chains and narrated in hundreds of Sunni sources that Rasulallah left behind the Quran and Ahlul Bayt. Second off, the names of the 12 imams are on the walls of masjid nabawi in Madina. Can u find me one place in Hadith or Quran that supports the 4 imams in the Sunni school of thought?

Unfortunately, brother Hashim didn't do this debate justice. A textual variant is a micro-difference - in terms of sentence structure or wording - and is not the same as a book version. I did not like how he kept pushing that textual variants and book versions are the same; they are not. Also, I am tired of Muslim debaters mocking Christians once they prove a point. This is not a competition of who's right or wrong, but rather a humble invitation to realize the truth. I still love brother Hashim immensely for his effort. He's one of the best debaters at Speakers Corner. There used to be two more brothers who debated alongside him that I do not see much of anymore. InshaAllah they are all well and living a fulfilling life blessed by Allah SWT.

Well i hope my interference will not distort the truth of this video. As far I read you replies some are changing the main idea and topic. Where mr Hashim trying to say the word of God should not be altered or changed. As far as the Quran and Bible concern, Quran proves it self since the prophet Mohammed pbah to today is not changed not even a letter unlike the Bible. So in what sense should someone follow and depends his salvation on?! A distorted book or reserved book?!! I guess only the sincere people would find the truth in that video despite the emotions and feeling involvement.
