I am not really a fan of the way Brother Hashim debates people. As a watcher of debates in Speakers Corner, his debates at times starts off so well, I get duped in this false sense of this is going to be a good one, then turns ugly pretty quickly. Turns into mocking, jeering, emotional or even screaming(what it seems like when you watch it). The problem with this is nobody learns anything not the people in the debate i.e Hashim and his 'opponent', the people around them and the people watching. So much can be learnt and even more can be taught, but at the end of the hour I think to myself..."damn, I wish that question would have been answered by Hashim or I wish the other person had a better chance to answer". Remember, we not trying to only learn about just Christianity here or just Islam. I personally want to learn both. I believe Brother Hashim has the opportunity/opportunities to explain a lot of things to Christians about Islam and what the Quran but it just does not come across well. This is not a personal attack, I just think Hashim should change his strategy and allow people to benefit from this, otherwise what is the point? For example, why did the prophet ask for forgiveness? Brother Hashim, I felt, should have expanded on this and perhaps give a better context. We need to remember that Non Muslims do not understand the Quran they way we do and they never know the context. I am not saying Hashim should be a lamb in front of these people, but be a lion that stamps his authority through strength of knowledge.
