Now that looks like proper polearm techniques. A wider grip would be better, gives more power in parry and bind.

Would be cool to potentially see more circular swings (AoE attacks) and a spear & shield combo. The animations shown looks nice.

Spear and shield is good in formations. Otherwise single spear is better. Spear and shield animation is only need ed for strategy games, and all the moves you need are stab and block.

I think the animation has enough circular swings. I handled polearms, and never felt the need to use circular swings.

Your female and pistol pack got few in place animations where root isn't zeroed out. FPP anim pack has few spear animations failed (the right hand doesn't follow weapon at all.. just doing some flickering). Thought you managed to fix that in time :P Though started new projec tand nope.. they are still there.. best one is longsword - no cleanup needed :)

Thanks, I'll take a look. Btw. in FPP set the spear should be snapped to left hand, not right - it's written in the pack description. Right hand is not on screen 95% of the time, so it doesn't have to follow the spear. It's only animated properly when it appears on screen.

@@Kubold If you snap to left hand it will look good in FP but if seen from outside the right hand is doing some crazy stuff.. where any other fp animations is acceptable even if neck and head is doing some weird stuff :D its suitable to blend on top of 3p legs and have true first person. :) I fixed the animation by hand.. and if you use ik bones to fix up hands with hand-ik - you can actually use right hand for all weapons. Besides i see from this new pack you decided to make right hand lead again - as right hand has the gun_ik node.. smart move :) I value your packs VERY MUCH. one of few packs that use ue4 ik bones right instead of slamming some idiotic extra bones that does same thing but are non-retargetable and generally useless (like ironbelly does).

@@3sgamestudio Ok, thanks for detailed feedback. I advertise the FPP pack as FPP only, but I can "reanimate" the right hand in spear if that's the case. I just didn't think anyone could use this for TPP, I never tested the pack in that way. Also, why the FPP pack has left hand forward in FPP Melee Animset spear - I did that, because this way the spear is on the right side of the FPP view, just like other weapons. It is quite "disturbing" if FPP weapons are on the left side. But in Spear and Halberd Animset the right hand is forward, because it has to be compatible with halberds and other "choppy - bashy" pole weapons (assuming the chracter is right handed).

@@Kubold and it matches your other locomotion packs and blending between animations wont be so dramatic.. just a slight adjustment of poses :) This FPP anim pack works like a charm for 3rd person. most fpp packs are doing some crazy things with clavicles and move bones in rediculous way. mocap anims got this realism that something recorde even if than a bit altered - is DOABLE. :) Only some heavy swing holds looks rediculous in 3rd person but you just trim ;) I like how ue4 allows to modify animations on the fly so easily. Still I work with your animations a lot! so fixing same stuff again and again is no fun ;)

Is it easy to mirror the animations to make them right handed?

Yes, you can mirror animations in engine, both UE4 and Unity have built in systems for that. Since this set is not just pure spear combat, the animations are "right handed" here though - imagine if it was a halberd, or a bill - when you raise the weapon above your head to take a swing, this is how a right handed person would hold the shaft. I hope someday I will have an option to make my character in the game left handed. Yet "Unreal" is the only game with this option that I know of.

Do some weapons classes or at least look at archive video.. when attacking out, the top hand on the staff starts palm up and twists to palm down. You get extra shove.
