Hi Andy, I eat pulpo/octopus quite often. If you try this again I have a few suggestions. First, salt it heavily and massage it for 20 to 30 minutes. This will remove the slime and tenderize it. Second. Pound it with something heavy. I use a rolling pin but an empty beer bottle also works well. Lastly, if you are going to grill it there is no reason to pre boil it. I grill octopus a lot. I never pre cook it and it always turns out great!

Try adding the dry herbs when you precook the octopus in wine because dry herbs burns easily on BBQ and it's easier for the dry herbs to release flavor in liquid.

I've watched and enjoyed several of your awesome videos, and most inspired by your secondary skill in cooking the fresh seafood (with catching and fishing as your primary). There was a video where you made curry; my favorite, invoked me to create my own version of five stars dish of seafood curry. I would also use fresh vegetables and herbs, in addition to the ready mixed curry seasoning: carrots, cucumber, bell pepper in any color, green onions, garlic, red onion or shallots, bay leaves, ginger root, and of course, curry seasoning, and coconut milk. After everything is cooked and tender, liquefy them together using blender to make thick and creamy curry sauce to pour over a small bed of cooked seafood, then sprinkle some roasted coconut flakes to garnish. I would char-grill some the seafood and arrange over a large plate. And my choice of seafood would be: two cleaned scallops, several prawns (shelled, and veined), a few shelled oysters, also a handful of claw crab meat. Thank you!
@Andysfishing3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the great comment, I wish I can get scallops here but with the sharks crocodiles and dirty water it’s not a good idea, I hope to go out and get some prawns soon that will make a good curry

Gday Andy. At the moment we have a yamaha 150 on the back which works an absolute treat. We fished all around cairns on the reefs for pelagics. Our eagle ray is 6.9m long and we did heaps of fishing tournaments in her and won many marlin, pelagics and bottom bashing tournaments. Im unsure about the km/L but we have a 200L take that would last at least 2 days of trolling at 7knots. Dad moved to the sunny coast last christmas and on the way down we stopped at airlie and went island hopping. I remember we fuelled her all the way up and did 2 days to hamilton and whitehaven beach and back then did a third day to the outer reef. However we did run out of fuel like 1km out from port of airlie but yeah she did all three days on that 1 tank. Ill give my dad a call and see if he knows how much fuel she does per km
@Andysfishing6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the information Tom. The 2 days of trips around here is a lot of running around. Are you sure you did all that on just 200L? I've also had to come in on the electric a couple of times because I needed an extra litre of petrol! Please reply in a new comment.

I First cooked octopus when I was 13, I boiled it for 2 hours before throwing it on a skillet with some lemon and lime along with some herbs and spices, not going to lie, I do not recommend boiling the fish indoors due to the smell, afterwards you can go indoors and throw it on a burner and it usually puts off a very nice aromatic smell.

Also Andy can you possibly do a overnight shark fishing video? Like during the day catch you’re lunch and towards night dinner and then when it’s starting to get dark do some shark fishing? That would be freaking awesome! Don’t forget the bolt cutters for your hooks and a really good light source, if you do do it, which I hope you do, I would suggest bringing a bunch of glow sticks for the boat and a good high powered lamp idk just a suggestion I’m 100% positive you would know exactly what to bring you’re a smart guy, but bolt cutters are a must cause if you cut the hook the point will fall out of the sharks mouth that way it doesn’t stay in there and get rusty and cause infection possibly just the nice thing to do ya know! Also appreciate how you always reply to everyone’s comments and I’m glad your gaining subs you do truly deserve it in my opinion you’re KZbin channel is the best fishing one around I’ve been here for years now and can’t wait till you get to 500k! Keep up the good work you’re effort will pay off for sure! If I didn’t have two full time jobs and go to college I would do fishing videos because when I’m not working or going to class I’m fishing! Top super video mate, I'm going to guess you'd be near the North Bernard islands group just out from Innisfail as South Bernard islands are out from Mourilyan harbour. I've fished both areas and in between as well. Great seafood to be had, I've always been very conservative when fishing as well. I only take / keep enough for a good meal, so long as it's in the legal length limits, the rest I release, also I use barbless hooks ( crush and then file them off) . More of a sporting chance for the fish. Cheers mate, love the videos and enjoying each one I watch. Cheers from western Australia.

Awesome video as always, was keen for this since the first time you were hunting for octopus. Love the way you describe the tastes of the foods. Always wanted to try octopus heard its abit like calamari.
@Andysfishing6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would be much like calamari, maybe more texture though.

About time you went under the water, hope you get some crays next time.. Conditions looked perfect too. Flat and good vis. A few footballers on that first bommie ;)
@Andysfishing6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the Footballers where cool. I did see one huge Cray with a few small ones near it, but I dicked around too much.
