I always listen to that voice in my head that tells me something is wrong, move, get out. Shark attacks are rare but they still happen. Just had a friends daughter and her boyfriend have a run in with a great white a couple months ago. Shark bit his paddle board and knocked him off into the water. He climbed back on and he was face to face with the shark still holding on to the board. Teenage kid punched the shark and it let go. Not too many people get to punch a great white in the face and come out of it unscathed. Stay safe.
@wakeupandlive33864 жыл бұрын
Fish Hunt yeah, it’s usually a good idea to listen to your gut 👍🏼 That’s insane, glad they made it out safely. Hope I never have to run into one of those 🤞🏼

WakeUpAndLive * I hope not as well. We have a lot of them here. Just do a google search of white sharks off of Capitola beaches in California and you will find photos and videos. Not uncommon to see 15 in one day right off of the beach or as many as 24.
@wakeupandlive33864 жыл бұрын
Fish Hunt Yeah, I’ve seen lots of video’s of Great White’s in California waters. Idk how you guys do it. Luckily we only have them visit once in a while for the most part. The one’s that we usually have to watch out for are the tiger’s.
@fishhunt98744 жыл бұрын
WakeUpAndLive * I spend way more time in the water while I am on vacation in Hawaii for two weeks than I do here for the other 50 weeks in the year. I am rarely in the water deeper than my knees fishing the surf. I spend a lot of time on the water in a boat. I had a couple of 12’ whites near my boat that I thought were pretty big. Then one day I had a 16’ white come by and that shark looked heavier than both 12’ sharks combined. It was huge! I can not imagine what an 18’-20’ shark looks like. The 16’ shark looked like a submarine. It was so wide and deep bodied.

Fish Hunt ohh I see. Yeah I don’t think I would be diving much if I lived there. But I’ve been fortunate not to have seen any big sharks like that yet. I bet it’s something to see

Hey I been watching all your videos, and you get better every time! I have one question, what’s up with Rois? I know that they are an invasive species, and you can’t eat them, yet you shoot them all the time, so what do you do with them?
@wakeupandlive33864 жыл бұрын
Kiko Mac Thanks for watching 🤙🏼 And as much as I don’t like wasting fish meaning not eating them Roi’s just eat all of our native species and take over the reef. So Eradication of them is important. But I’ll usually chum them up or use them as fertilizer 👍🏼

I’m a new diver and I can never hold my breath long. Can you make a video about that? Is it true when you’re thinking about sharks you can’t hold your breath? That just seems crazy.
@wakeupandlive3386 Жыл бұрын
Well I honestly don’t know any secret techniques or anything like that. It seems like some freediving classes can instantly teach people how to have a longer breath hold just from 1-2 classes. So maybe that might be an option. I have never taken a class and have just slowly increased my breath hold over time. The only advice I can give is to be consistent, learn to fully relax, use the bare minimum effort when kicking and moving around. Eventually you learn how to relax your entire body. Another method to increase your breath hold and CO2 tolerance is to do tables. Look up O2 and co2 tables. I’ve used that before and increased my breath hold in a couple weeks.

@@wakeupandlive3386 Mahalo for the quick reply. I took two classes and when I couldn't do it, like you said in such a short period, the instructors told me come back when you know what your problem is. Been to the doctor and they said everything is anatomically OK. I don't know who can help me anymore. But your breathold is amazing and so awesome!!! And it's not torture holding your breath so long? Because for me it is! I feel like after 10 feet its just hard to get down, does it get easier at a certain depth if you keep kicking a little bit?
@wakeupandlive3386 Жыл бұрын
@@skinz1234 You’re welcome. Oh wow! Well are you physically fit? Do you have a decent static apnea? Dry or wet, just no movement. Or is your urge to breath only from water pressure? The kicking? Trying to equalize (not properly) and using to much oxygen, or just completely throwing your mental state off. And it only gets harder the deeper you go, (using more oxygen from kicking and equalizing) but the first 30 ft I’m still buoyant, so it’s harder for me to stay down with anything shallower then that.

imagine dirty water being 15m vis
@wakeupandlive33864 жыл бұрын
Jarrad Phelps yeah, I know in other places people dive with much less vis. I’ve personally dove in 5 ft vis multiple times, which made no sense because you can’t see anything but we definitely are fortunate here in Hawaii and have clear waters
@spearo164 жыл бұрын
@@wakeupandlive3386 everyones tried it once 😂 where i am we call 5m vis bad
@wakeupandlive33864 жыл бұрын
Jarrad Phelps well 5 meters is definitely bad vis and I won’t dive in that kind of water again 😂 I’m not fearless like I was back when I was a bit younger 😅
@spearo164 жыл бұрын
also worth going over your footage to work out why your shots are bad. The second goatfish you shot your arm is bent so when you shoot instead of the gun recoiling straight back the muzzle goes right which kicks the shaft left.
@wakeupandlive33864 жыл бұрын
Jarrad Phelps I didn’t even think of that, I guess sometimes I forget the basics. I’ve always stressed accuracy with spearguns, modding the handles to absorb recoil better and other small things, but if I don’t use proper technique then of course I can’t expect it to perform properly either. Thanks for the tip 🤙🏼
@spearo164 жыл бұрын
@@wakeupandlive3386 they are handy when yoi can go frame by frame! Especially when you go back see how fast they recoil.
