Not surprised about what fish will eat. My brother and I were bass fishing in a small pond with trees overhanging part of the shoreline. I was pitching along the shore. My brother had pitched under a tree that overhung the shore. This Large Mouth Bass launched himself just a little way from where he pitched, snatched a bird off a nearby branch about 2 feet above the water, and dove back under. That was a hell of a thing to see happen! Those fish are so smart. You know he was watching, waiting for just the right opportunity to get that bird. Amazing fish.

Hey Kelly, you can sing the following to the tune of Reveille. It goes like this(at least the part of it that I can remember): You gotta get up, you gotta get up, you gotta get up in the morning. You gotta get up, you gotta get up, you gotta get up at dawn. There are more words to it and the first line comes out of an Irving Berlin song titled "Oh, How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning". Also those are just the words that I learned while in the Army. The Marines, Air Force and Navy all had their own version, all of which were sung to the buglers tune of Reveille. Reveille itself was just a bugle tune like Recall(or Retreat) and Taps which were the same tunes for all branches of the service and which had no words. Anyway, just a little bit of trivia knowledge while I'm enjoying watching another one of your very enjoyable videos. Keep 'em coming please. Right now I'm getting ready to head over and see what Gabe is up to. I got started watching these KZbin outdoor videos first while watching Dan Hurd of Dan Hurd Prospecting. Then I saw a thumbnail, I guess that's what they are called, of Joe Robinet doing some bushcraft, which lead me to Chris Leclair the Wooded Beardsman, which lead me to Zachary Fowler of Fowlers Makery and Mischief, which lead me to Bluegabe's channel, which lead me to yours. Each of these channels was found either by direct connection(introduction to/thru the video I was watching) or by seeing a intriguing thumbnail to the right while watching a video. You might be able to tell that I'm new to watching and subscribing to youtube channels but I'm "hooked",😉, now and spend large parts of my day watching them. Thank the good lord that I'm retired and have insomnia or I would never get anything done!😄.

Kelly what you observed was not revelry that is what happens at 5am to wake the troops , when they raise the flag at 8am sharp it called "raising the colors" or just "colors" , and just before sundown its called the same, if you are on base whether a civilian or military you are required to stop face in the direction of the base flag pole and solute if in uniform or put your hand over your heart, and taps is blown nightly at bedtime, btw you are also near actually closer to Marine Corp Recruit Depot where Marines are made! and when you are in boot camp (I went through in 1982) taps was the most beautiful thing to hear! it meant no more being yelled at until after revelry! and got to sleep

I lived in Southern California for 35 years and would drive down to San Diego and jump on a boat to go fishing when the fishing was hot, mostly in Mexican waters. Caught Bluefin, Albacore, yellowfin tuna and yellowtail (Jack family) so many times, and there so fun to catch, and so delicious on the grill, or sashimi. Calico bass are petty tasty too, but can fall apart easily. I live in Oklahoma now, and miss fishing the West coast. I’ve also vacationed in Florida and have lobstered and fished there too. Love y’all’s videos so much, now get back to Florida and catch more lobsters, and keep showing different recipes and different cooking techniques. Lol
@TexasGrandDad2 жыл бұрын
Revelry is played in the morning as the flag goes up. Taps are played in the evening as the flag goes down. If you go on a military base it is customary to exit your vehicle and salute the flag when driving at either times. Civilians are expected to stand at attention with their hand over their heart. It is the little traditions that bind the military into a common purpose.
@PlainStraightShooter2 жыл бұрын
Well put. Now can we get this country to get in the groove and actually appreciate what we stand for, why we are here, and actually abide 100% by what the Constitution is and why it is written the way it was. Lastly respect our military branches and honor 💯the loss and the heart given in protection to this great country. I still stand to make this country greater again.
@safetydave87702 жыл бұрын
When I was younger I did a lot of moves on Tinker AFB. Usually had Marines that helped for extra money. I learned real fast that do not be carrying a couch outside when Revelry or Taps was played. Dropping what your doing and saluting is an understatement.
@aycoxjp2 жыл бұрын
Reveille is played at “sunrise”. At 0800 it is the National Anthem. Then it’s retreat at “sundown”. Finally taps at 2200.

Reveille is 0700, Colors (Hoisting the ensign) is 0800, Taps (Quiet time) is 2100, and Colors (lowering the ensign) sunset. What sounds you hear depends on the base commander, or the senior officer (the Admiral) and sometimes depends on the number of ships present, and wether or not the local community supports it (normally an overseas situation). My favorite is the Marines who play bugle calls for Reveille and Taps. Thanks a lot for the video.

IDK if you've been there or not, I was stationed in Hawaii back in late 80s, and it was the island island of Oahu. I remember a lot of my fellow soldier friends that came from areas of the country around here and down south and In the he sticks, more or less, not that you can't be into fishing and be sophisticated somewhere lol, but nevertheless I remember that. But they would go fishing in places that were inshore, I'm not even sure if they were freshwater or not, I think they were Believe it or not! But if you guys ever went to Hawaiian Islands in general, and then go to the one where the capital is on Oahu, try going out to a city that is more inland called Wahiawa. It's right outside Schofield barracks where I was stationed, but there was a huge lake of some sort there, because I know that we used to all go to this one the store that would serve us 🙄, and then we who were underage would just walk back to base. (We would go out there by bus from base it wasn't that far like 3 mi or so. I had a couple buddies that fished in there, but I never really found out what they were catching. I would be curious to know what's in there, I could Google it, but I would like to hear it first hand from somebody who was looking for new things to do, new places to fish, new places to it experience The nightlife, or day life, whatever, so this is why I am suggesting it if you could possibly do that sometime that would be cool if I could see it that's all thanks again for what you guys all do. God bless!
