As has been stated before, you would use the average of any tied ranks. But you still need to correct the Spearman's rank value for any ties. To do so, find out how many ties are in both groups being compared. Represent the value of the tie by n, and calculate (n^3-n)/12. Add this to the sum of the squared differences, then multiply by 6 and subtract as before. For example, if one group has a 2-way tie in its ranks, while the second group has a 3-way tie, you would add (2^3 - 2)/12 and (3^3 - 3)/12, or 0.5 and 2. So add 2.5 to the sum of the squared differences before multiplying by 6, then divide by (n^3-n) and subtract from 1 as you normally would. The result is the Spearman's rank corrected for ties.
