I feel really fortunate to be able to even be ordering a GT4, but as it's getting closer to the build date I thought I'd share my build with you and everything I've spec'd for it. It's gonna be super legit and above and beyond OG Spec.

I passed on my 718 GT4 allocation, in hopes for the rumored RS. My build was too close to base pricing for the RS, and having my 981 it didn't just make sense. Love the color/spec on yours Matt!

I think I have a mild form of OCD. Listening to the way you explain your reasoning sounds super familiar to my way of thinking. There's this constant weighting of different potential outcomes all at the same time. Car purchases are always kind of tricky for me. It's nice to hear I'm not the only one who is as methodical about it. It amazes me when people just walk into a dealer and walk out completely satisfied.

Matt, you are 2 yrs ahead of me on this purchase. This will be an awesome project car. Much more relatable than GT3 which is way above my budget. I definitely agree with your seating choice, as Andreas Preuninger specifically has stated that those seats provide a lot more seat-of-the-pants feedback with regard to what the suspension is doing. Plus they look so good 👌!

Love the build. I picked up a very similarly spec'ed GT4 (in chalk) the other day, made it my daily so I could get better at driving stick. I'm excited to see how you customize yours, especially with the exhaust since PSE on this model is lacking a bit of excitement

Hey Matt, i saw this blue color in person today on a 718 GT4 at the nurburgring in germany. it really looks amazing, the color shifts between dark/bright in the direct sunlight and suits the car very well. you made a very good decision!

Really wish a video like this would have been out there a few months ago when I spec'd my GT4 (first Porsche). I missed things like the smokers'a package...well, because I don't smoke! and a few other small things. I also chose Gentian, but went with the Aurum wheels for some contrast. Agree with the "play the game" comment...first dealership I went to basically laughed me out the door. "So wait. You have never bought a Porsche before and you want a GT car? I can maybe sell you a Macan." That's verbatim. Was lucky enough to work a contact at a second dealership and ...surprise, surprise... no issues getting an allocation and putting in an order. Absolute BS, but whatever. Car is built and on a boat this week. Can't wait!

First time I ever watch a 30 minute from beginning to end. I learned a lot about various options. Really excited to see the GT4 get dialed in! I so agree with ditching the rain sensor wipers. I hate them on my Mercedes. You barely need wipers with coated glass. I like the longest intermittent settings.

The auto-dimming mirror should allow you to tap into the mirror’s 12V power for a radar detector and avoid running any wire around the headliner / pillar / dash.

It will never be OG spec because you have to weld the floor under the rear subframe (critical flaw on E46, subframe bolts to a thin floor instead of the chassis rails like on E92). Most body shops will not zinc and seal the welds correctly and the floor will rust and tear even worse.

Matt, I think we are on the same production schedule here in the U.S. The interior on the 718 Spyder I spec'd is almost identical along with Platinum/PCCBs but my exterior in GT Silver - nice choices! The steering column wrapped in leather will come deviated with standard stitching based on the way you spec'd it - so hope that comes as a welcome surprise. Also, sun visors are default vinyl unless you spec Alcantara. Lastly, US versions come with the "chambers" for the particulate filter (production savings with only one exhaust), but without the actual filters in them. However, won't matter when we both drop those shortly after delivery for a JCR Titanium (22 lbs weight savings) or Dundon. Enjoy - can't wait for late July / August to get here! Congrats.

You have my whole GTI in options on your GT4, lol. What's funny is, you could have gone nuts and had a whole Golf R in options. Solid spec, my biggest thing that I'd be going for is leather trim, because I hate high-gloss anything inside, the glare/sun reflections kill it.

Speced basically the same car including the color with an early allocation. However, I decided to wait for the PDK version... but I do not have a GT3 yet. The car will also reside in Florida.

Don't. Severe crank hub flaw on N55 and S55 engines, and even if you fix that there is a horrible forced 1.2s of throttle latency on upshift programmed in the ECU as "drivetrain protection" that nobody figured out how to code out years after release. Does the allocation thing only apply to certain areas of the country? I am in the Bay Area and the last time I stopped in the Porsche dealer (Pre-Covid) they had a GT3 RS in the showroom floor. I think in places like the Bay Area or the LA So. Cal area, think they are more plentiful and have much higher allocation for orders than somewhere on the Mid or East Coast.
