What I'd like to hear about is how your expectations of CQC/hand to hand were going into learning it and how it was different to what you actually learned. Also whether you had a background in anything before the military and if so whether that was a hindrance or a benefit. I believe Cam mentioned in a gameology vid that they trained a little Judo/grappling, but in general most martial arts would be very impractical while wearing 40 lbs of kit, and most training was focused on getting to your weapons.

Actually, the term “soccer” came from the UK to the US. There was a sports association that managed the game. As’soc’iation ==> soc ==> soccer. Then American football and called football in absence of a sport using that name… then the Brit’s resumed calling soccer football and blamed soccer on us.

Every country just calls the member of the football family of sports that is dominant in their country by the generic term "football," and uses more specific names for the others. Aussies call their version "football" and Association Football "soccer," just like we (Americans) do. Meanwhile, other places call Association Rules football "football," and use more specific names for Rugby, American Football, etc. We aren't wrong for calling it soccer (especially since the English invented the name), and they aren't wrong for calling it football. Both are correct. The more common game in each country is just called "football."
