I feel so bad for Zach. I know how much this means to him when Comic-Con time comes around. I just wish we had a little more info as far as the stumbling blocks. There are so many Nerd HQ fans, you never know who could come up with something in a pinch. I'm sure there is some Nerd HQ fan who would be more than thrilled to provide a venue if they had one to offer. I agree with the others, the Nerd HQ panels are often the best panels out of what gets rushed through Comic-Con. I'm still going to pray for a last-minute solution.

its the money and they just dont have it. even though its for charity the guests cost money to book unfortunately

Um, the guests don't cost a penny. They do it for free because they believe in the cause and in many cases are friends of Zach's. The site however does cost, as well as the events and games and displays. My guess is that the Children's Museum wasn't available/too much, and there aren't many places to hold an event the size they'd like during Comic Con week.

I remember when we were doing Chuckfest, one of our bigger costs came from transporting the actors. They all did it for free. But you had to get them to the event somehow. That's not cheap. I'm sure NerdHQ had much bigger overhead than the guests.

Ashleigh the guests...everyone there did it for free...and whatever money made went to charity.... but there are costs that need to be covered and for that u need sponsors...if they dont come ...nerdhq cant happen....otherwise we would have to pay a shitton of money....because it is free aside from panels and Smiles for smiled....

My first thought on seeing this is towards the lack of exposure and funding this means for Operation Smile. It's a shame that we won't get the entertainment watching the panels hosted by Nerd HQ this year, but they're the ones that are really going to hurt from this.

All good things have to take a break sometimes. I'm sorry you won't be able to have the show. Hopefully there's a way to still raise money for the smiles program. It seems San Diego comic con has really outgrown that city. I hope there is a brighter future for the nerd HQ.

Never made it to Nerd HQ but I always appreciated the posted videos, especially the last two years when I was languishing at home on dialysis in 2015 and 2016. I got a new kidney the latter part of last year. So, as someone who has dealt with health problems, I've really appreciated that Zac has supported Operation Smile all these years. Zac, you are a special guy, and although this news is a disappointment, for you especially, it appears, you are a much loved and admired person.

This on top of many other nerd things has been on bummer on my day, but I can only imagine the logistics of trying to put this thing on every year. And sometimes you come to a time where you can't and I get it. This was always my favorite thing about SDCC (since I can't actually go) and hopefully you'll be back soon and better than ever! I cannot tell you how many times I have watched the NerdHQ segments with my "Supernatural" stars and you. They are so funny and brighten my mood when I am having a bad day. Too name a few GEMS, "Pull my finger", Misha's plane story" and the picking on of Mark Sheppherd. So sorry that you may not be giving us these great times.

Nerd HQ is my favorite thing to watch during SDCC so I will miss it like I'm sure so many of us will. I never get to make it there in person but I watch on KZbin. Nerd HQ online has always been my only way to experience a piece SDCC, I even tried to help with the crowdfunding a couple years ago. The best part was how consistently entertaining it was every year (not to mention the charity contribution!). Oh Zac, I just want to give you a huge hug right now, this must be devastating for you. We all know you would have done anything to make this happen. That you have been able to do this at all let alone for the number of years you have is a blessing to not only the children you have helped but also the people who have been able to watch these panels, so please don't think for a second that you have in any way failed anyone because you haven't. For me personally, watching the Supernatural panels in particular have kept me out of a very dark place. Whenever I need to remind myself that there is good in this world I come back to these panels and I thank you for that, for giving me this sanctuary. For everyone's sake but mostly for yours I hope you can make Nerd HQ happen next year, I see how much this means to you and there is no-one I can think of more deserving of achieving their goals than you. Very sad new indeed, but completely understood. You guys put so much time effort and work into the event I can't imagine how hard it is to arrange. I prefer to not be sad that there's no Nerd HQ this year, but rather think of it as a much belated and well deserved break for you guys so you can focus on what is best for the band overall and hopefully come back to SDCC in 2018 even better than before.

This is really sad. I live in the U.K. and cant afford to travel to San Diego, so the videos and panels are all I get to see. I agree with previous posts - the nerd HQ panels are so much ch better. I don't know if it's the smaller intimate space, the fact that doing it for nothing means the guests you get really want to do it (and have fun in the process) rather than just as a commitment, or maybe the fact everyone is there for such a great cause which creates a shared bond My Ice bucket Challenge a few years back was done with a donation to Operation Smile - such a great cause that so many of us wouldn't know existed without you and what you do.👏👏👏 Hopefully this is a one off. If it's down to costs like the alternate venue, then hopefully that will sort itself out. For this year, whilst SDCC is the big one, would you be able to run it at another major con? Take the HQ on the road and maybe pull in people who couldn't normally make it? Whatever happens, remember you guys do fantastic work, and the fans will be here for you.

The only reason I actually attended SDCC last year was watching Nerd HQ panels over he net, for the last 5 years. In 2015 I even took time off work to watch live. The panels i attended last year were superb, the party was excellent. I know that running Nerd HQ must have been gut wrenching with the finances, such a huge leap of faith that everything would work out in the end. With the announcement that Zak will be fronting the SyFy content for SDCC this year is a relief, as it will I'm sure help Zak calm his nerves and sense of disappointment. If the job offer from SyFy was an opportunity to take part and participate in SDCC without the financial uncertainty, then I think it's for the best. I know we do not have any right to understand the minuscule decisions that have had to be made, but I do feel that if this is addressed then everyone else could have a little sense of closure.

As a person who's obsessed with geek culture and is unable to make the trip all the way to San Diego, the Conversations For a Cause have been the highlight of my summer for the last few years, even more so than SDCC itself. They're genuinely special, those Conversations. And while I'm saddened to hear Nerd HQ won't happen this year, I thoroughly appreciate all the work you folks have done over the years, and wish and hope for nothing but great things for you in the future. I think it's a testament of how well you've always treat your fans, that instead of reacting like if Christmas had been cancelled, for what I read in the comments, we are all more concerned about you and how you must have struggled before you admitted defeat. We really appreciate all you do for us, I know NerdHQ as awesome as it is takes a huge amount of luck and effort to accomplish, and some time, even with the effort you can't manage.
