This is a good option for stuff in the gym (weighted pushups, pull-ups, treadmill as he’s doing, etc.) but if you’re training for SFAS, Ranger, or whatever it may be, train with your rucksack. Learn where it may rub you the wrong way, how to adjust it, and do that with it packed full of items as it will be in the course

As a retire USMC GRUNT, I've got mad respect for my US Army Brothers & Sisters. As i know, rucking is in the Army Grunt's DNA... On another note, if you decide to jog or run wearing that on your treadmill, only use it for that. No more timed/distance half marathons or PRT/PFT evaluations on it. Lol! Bc the extra weight & pounding you'll subject it to, it'll eventually throw off the treadmill's calibration... Just food for thought... But MAD respect!!!

@wm9782
@wm9782 Күн бұрын
Paid yes, but you don't understand the sacrifice. It is sold as a job today but it was and will be a mandatory act again that is paid very little in comparison to the worth of freedom and the sacrifices they pay. Those who were drafted sacrificed, and there are still many alive who were forced to war. Those who saw wars all sacrificed. Those who died and their family sacrificed the most. The sacrifice is real for those who see action plus the sacrifice comes home to their family. As a family member of a vet, I know the sacrifice they endure after being sent to a war they had no choice in the decisions to go or not because of the draft. This administration just brought back the draft to our youth of America and is rattling the sabers to bring us to the brink of the final 43-minute nuclear war. Our vet sacrificed when he was forcefully taken away from his family to do acts so horrifically violent that they can't talk about it. I've sacrificed with the effects of the hereditary contagion of Agent Orange when the vet's daughter died of kidney failure due to lupus and the long-term damage to the genetic damage of my kids that never existed before his sacrifices in the war when he was bathed in Agent Orange. I've seen the vet have surgery after surgery and the PTSD that keeps him silent from speaking of their service. Not allowing rest to his soul and living in continual pain from the damage to his body. So that you who are ignorant, can have the choice to either rest and grow in your ignorance or to wake the hell up and be grateful for the freedom you have been gifted with no sacrifice of your own and the choice to waste or not waste it as well. Unlike the other countries that have genocide, civil unrest is ultimately created by the politicians and the political arena they create. S system they created with the need to use these poor souls as pawns in their games for the oligarchy. Wake up; it is not the soldiers. It's the politicians who create the environments that allow the atrocities to happen on both sides of the war arena. Ultimately, it was created by us, the civilians, not paying attention to the laws they passed and the system they created to dominate the weak. Yet here we are on the Internet that was created by war and the military, so stop being ignorant and use the Internet to learn and be more than an ignorant society of ungrateful citizens blind to the soldier's plight in a system where the civilians created and are forced to pay for in taxes so you who judge the soldiers stop using the spoils of war, stip using the Internet, stop using the cellphones actually since Since you are so "smart" to judge them, remember to stop paying your taxes as well if you don't support the soldiers or their spoils of war. This video shows a side of the preparation these soldiers do to protect and get us more freedom you endure and that some waste. So I am grateful for the men and women who allow me not to have to kill for my freedom like my ancestors did. Freedom is always paid in blood when ignorance is rampant and ignorance is contagious. So wake up. It's not the soldier. It's the system they and we all endure with gains and costs that allow us the basic freedoms the ignorants take for granted. And those who know to give honor to. I do not want war and vote against it everytim. Yet I know I enjoy the spoils of the war I did not partake in. Thank you to you who can read this far because the ignorant can't.

@aar3682, we didn't do it for the money. My dad got paid $99 a month when he first got into the Army during the Vietnam War. When I joined the Army in 2006, I was making $60,000 a year as a construction worker and went down to a little over $35,000 a year by joining the Army. Now I'm 100% disabled/workable from the Army. I'm still capable of working most jobs but I'm too broken to do military jobs. Because I love my country and still want to protect and provide for my country and community, I am a career firefighter/EMT. I hurt everyday after my 24 hour shift but I ignore the pain and discomfort because I love my job. My base pay is below $45,000. I put myself in jeopardy every shift for not much money. As a firefighter, I could die doing my job very easily, in a fire, on the side of the road trying to get someone out of a car, or anything. As an EMT, I deal with people that are not always in their right mind sometimes. I could easily respond to their 911 call and they just called as a trap to kill 911 responder. There have been a lot of first responder that have been killed on a normal call like that because the person was sick in a dangerous way. Just because they get paid doesn't mean that it's just a job. We train hard and get paid a little because we love the lifestyle and love helping other. When you see a solder, Marine, airman, sailor, law enforcement officer, firefighter, or EMT/Paramedic, remember, they are under paid to make your life and others around you's life better and longer. Maybe you should say thank you.

I personally think its better to ruck with an actual ruck. rucking with a plate is not the same . You don't get the same feeling as having a ruck on that is filled with heavy gear. I recommend using small sand bags added to a regular packing list to train with. but you do you. I'm just an average guy that has rucked 1000s of miles over the last 20+ years. bottom line is you don't need any special gear to be successful you just need the will to not quit when it starts sucking! There are no shortcuts!

100% this. I have also rucked a mile or two with some heavy shit on my back. I've done it with weights in there and I've done it with gear. They don't feel the same, especially when you're running. Always load the ruck with real objects (preferably ones you'd take to the field) rather than weights. It doesn't matter what the exact weight is. If it feels heavy, it is and it'll only feel heavier as you go.

It’s amazing how you need “ruck training tools” in the United States, that includes a treadmill. In Canada, perhaps we have been a lot less sophisticated; We actually wore our rucks, and the gear that was packed in an on them, of necessity, weighed more than I did. We wore those suckers, on Snowshoes was wearing mukluks, for weeks on end, taking them off only to sleep. We wore them in the bog as we were digging trenches. We wore them as we Marched any distance… no indoors business. It was all outdoors under all conditions and all-terrains.

Here's a better idea. Get a big backpack and put as many bottles with water into it as you can. Go to your nearest steepest hill, climb it and empty those bottles at the top. That way you climb up heavy and go down light. Your knees will thank you and you don't need all this fancy equipment. You can even plant some trees at the top and water them this way

It's a good starter tool for sure. Then you should graduate to the actual ruck where you will have your actual gear in your ruck.

I use to do this all the time, ruck march coming up, just 550 a plate to my frame. I loved it when they would come around weighing the rucks to make sure people didn't cheat, wondering why my ruck sack looks too small just to realize i didn't cheat.

Train with the gear you’ll use (maybe a touch heavier) you’ll honestly get better results that way. (17year med discharge veteran)
