Thank you so much for these videos! I’m just a dude trying to be a good guy… hearing your perspective on things is pure GOLD! Thanks again lol

This video motivates me and also fills me with a tinge of regret. I remember being in a bar in Chatan and a guy from 1st Group basically asked me "Why don't you switch to SF?" I studied Mandarin as an undergrad, was an Air Support Control Officer so I understand the basics of talking to aircraft, and at the time was working through my Masters Degree in Software-Defined Radios.....I think in hindsight I would have contributed more as an 18E or 18A than anything I've done as a Marine Corps officer before or since. Buck @ FNG Academy also indicated that SUT was a nut-crusher.
@ValhallaVFT8 ай бұрын
Just got done with 3 years out in Oki last year. And yes SUT is the worst phase by far in my opinion.

Solid content as usual brother.

Hey brother...I thought Air Force Combat controllers were the JTACs on the SF teams...didnt know the teams had their own JTAC
@ValhallaVFT8 ай бұрын
Sometimes a CCT can get attached to ODAs for deployments but most teams have their own SOTAC team internal.

For someone like myself going the 18x route, is there any logic to bulking up as much as possible? I'm currently 6'3" 200 lbs and feel like it's the perfect size, but I assume I'm gonna lose weight. Not sure if bulking more would be a mistake or a blessing haha
@leogol60454 ай бұрын
Yes, according to sofprepcoach, lean muscle mass is a good predictor of success at sfas, due to weight ratios between you and your ruck. So I would go on a bulk, then a (gradual) cut to retain the most amount of muscle while eliminating as much fat as you can. Depending on your timeline I wouldn't even worry about cutting at all, as you'll lose it anyway. All that's to say, it's not necessary, but it def wouldn't hurt

endurance event. run more.
@ExtraRice3654 ай бұрын
I'm gonna ruck, run, and lift more and eat more. As long as my rucking/running endurance isn't going down I'm gonna keep eating as much as possible

Funny question for you, i know their are tons of joke about not having enough sleep in the military but you have that sleep-deprivation eyes so do your eyes always look like that or you’re just sleepy? ?

I already speak Spanish near-fluently. Would they still ask me to learn a new language? Or just go to the spanish course
@ValhallaVFT8 ай бұрын
Depends. Had a guy in my Chinese mandarin class that was 100% fluent, lived in china for 18 years. They still made him to the class. Not the most common sense in those decisions.

Thanks for the video. What are the different language options? Italian?
@ValhallaVFT8 ай бұрын
There’s a ton of languages we learn, to many to list to be honest, Italian however is not one of them. French, Russian, Arabic, Chinese Mandarin are some of the most common.

Probably going to be waiting a long time because my mandarin is pretty awful at this point lol.

For gate week, what were you averaging for PT events, specifically the 2 mile run?
@ValhallaVFT8 ай бұрын
12:45~ for the 2 mile run.

Impressive, especially since you’re a pretty big dude. Aspiring 18x here… I still have some work to do.

@@wyatth1786 I was about 6’2 200lbs when I was in the course, so not really that big, I am a lot bigger than that now.

@@ValhallaVFT I gotcha. I’m 5’10, 180. I’m just curious if you could answer this question(s). When you did the 18x, did you go thru sopc course before sfas? If so, did they really hone in on land nav? Or was it just a smoke session the whole time? I know you said you didn’t struggle with land nav bc your dad was SF and you grew up in the woos. I unfortunately did not, so I’m sure that will be a challenge for me and I’m just curious if you think that additional practice was helpful or not. Thanks man

August sfas has something like a 10% pass rate "for ade"(idk what ade means lol, active duty enlisted?), how did it get easier?
@ValhallaVFT8 ай бұрын
The Q course is easier, not SFAS.
@phobos18268 ай бұрын
@@ValhallaVFT Roger, do you mean them moving language school to after getting your beret?
@ValhallaVFT8 ай бұрын
@@phobos1826 I mean they removed some of the most difficult phases like IUW and shortened the course 6 months. That is a massive change to make thing easier. Not to mention many physical gates being lowered or removed to allow women to get through.
@phobos18268 ай бұрын
@@ValhallaVFT Do you think sfab being a thing has something to do with the removal of iuw?
@ValhallaVFT8 ай бұрын
@@phobos1826 no they have nothing related. They removed it to make the course shorter and easier.
