We read in IMA & Counter insurgency school abt the operations of SFF Vikash units & the brave Tibetan Soldiers, among the Vikas units 4rth Vikas is called Special Group.....Establishment 22 was the most secretive force in India but after the skirmishes in Indo-China borders general people heard of this SFF specially when an Officer Nyima Tenzin la of Special Frontier Force, who was martyred on Aug 30, 2020 defending our border from the intruding Chinese troops ....... Hi, People don't really know that NSG Came into existence after Special Group was formed..it's core members were from SG, even SFF has to be given credit..in public domain not much is mentioned about how SG, SFF & NSG are corelated...all have same parent Organization. Even SFF have fought wars for India in 71 and some say in 99 as well...(because of the looks, they were mixed with GR battalions, and no body doubted)! Pls share some insights on SFF as well!

For all those people who don’t know SSF are comprised of Tibetan armys and was first formed in 1962 with Tibetan refugees..they have contributed in numerous main battles like east pak war,Kargil war, Siachen etc.,,there are documentaries as well about them..they are guerilla forces highly trained for high altitude and combat as well..also known as TSF Tibetan Special Force,they are the ones who fights in the front clearing field for other forces..since they are a Top Secret Force not many know of them..I’m telling this because I heard many Indians asking about why Tibetans don’t have their own army to fight China..there already is and they actually are a top Force at that..I guess when time comes they will happily fight China which they couldn’t because of Nehru back then and that is another long topic to discuss.

It is called Special frontier force or Vikas regiment or establishment 22 otherwise. Made up mainly by Tibetan refugees and was founded after the debacle of 1962 war when a need for specialized covert force capable of mountain warfare was sorely felt. Tibetans because of their natural bodily capability to sustain in high altitude area was seen as optimum choice. All of them are qualified para troopers and expert mountain climber. They come under direct control of cabinet secretariat through RAW but are put under Army command in operational area. Their main deployment is in Siachen glacier with each personal doing multiple tours there. Their existence briefly came in spotlight when former COAS General Dalbir Singh was caught up in a alleged parachute purchase scam when he was the Inspector General of SFF. If you happen to go in Chakrata cantonment near Dehradun or in Nubra or Leh in Ladkha, you can come across strapping Tibetan jawans in maroon beret with snow lion batch on shoulder and they are what local calls “ Lama Fauji “ the warriors of Bangladesh war and subsequent war between India and Pakistan especially Kargil war when few lost their lives but kept under wraps.
