@@OfficialDemego And she did some horrible things to him. She even said, after her brother had died, that she wished it had been Marshall. A toxic mother is not someone you are obligated to do ANYTHING for as an adult. It's not like she was this fantastic mother who didn't deserve any of the bitterness in his songs. She earned her way there. Plenty of teenage mothers don't act the way she did. She has herself to blame for their broken relationship. No one is accountable for the actions of another. He doesn't owe her anything.

Generational trauma isn't a real thing.
@virginiaviola50973 ай бұрын
@@MichaelS00 it is. It is a very real thing. If you don’t know that then you are a very fortunate person. If a person’s childhood is traumatic it leaves scars, and inevitably those behaviours repeat. Not always, but often. Poverty, unemployment, family violence, substance abuse, abandonment issues, divorce, missing parents, neglect, loss of self-esteem.. it’s all established early and sadly the cycle is repeated in adulthood. You can certainly see that very early on in Marshall’s career, but he switched things up for Haley. Because even money isn’t enough to repair a damaged childhood and the way it raises its ugly head in adulthood. Kurt Cobain, John Lennon in his ‘20’s, Sinead O’Connor just to name a couple of famous people. Then there’s the tragedy of being Black in America..Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston, Rick James…. and that’s only a few famous people. There are millions of people who are just stuck in an endless cycle that gets handed down, generation after generation. I wish that you were right, but reality says you aren’t. My own life experience and my own exposure to the world also says you aren’t.

I feel so bad for Marshall‘s mother, because in many ways I am her. I get it. I had to move my children Michigan from the Detroit area and moved us to Arizona when the girls were 13 because I don’t want them to live the lake that I lived. I was an alcoholic for most of the life and made poor choices but I always put them first and worked my best to make sure that they had a good life. I’ve been sober now for 15 years and I can tell you those generational curses run so deep, but somewhere, somehow someone has to step up and begin to break them. I’m glad I was able to do that from my family. And I’m sure that Marshall‘s mother was able to. She would have two. Live in this life isn’t something that we choose. It’s something that we just get going into and shit happens before we can put the brakes on.

❤I know I am a nobody, yet I feel compelled to share. Your son is Legendary IMO. An old soul poet that has the ability to put life into words everyone can feel and understand. Sometimes, just knowing someone else gets it, means they can get through to the next day.

How about everything Marshall put her through? As kids we often don’t realize all the bs we put our parents through till we grow older .

@@AnatolianArmenianso ignorant. Debbie severely abused & neglected Em & his lil brother Nathan. Em had to adopt him after social services took him from Debbie due to the abuse. She literally drugged Em as a child! A lot happened but he choose to forgive & make peace with it on his song Headlights for her. Your talking about normal upbringings when this is an abusive one & in no way should you ridicule a child victim of parental abuse to feel bad for what you assume they did to their abuser.

@bones4899 Before she had her car accident and got addicted to pain meds I think she was maybe a decent mom after that she was hell to live with it seems. She wasn't right in the head after that.
