I don't even watch Marvel movies and even I understand the Black Widow character is really interesting, psychologically, politically, as a personality, as her own character etc. It's a shame that most people don't see that, because she also happens to be a woman. Her beauty is kind of part of her skillset, she has been conditioned to use it throughout her career, but that's certainly not all she is. It's a shame people are so simple about it and just see her as an alluring woman, 'eye candy'. How degrading their view is. Such a shame on them.

There’s a reason as to why you’d see more fit men as models and a lot petite women as models for magazines etc because attractive attracts that has never changed. Uneven pay, unsafe feeling on the streets, domestic voilence is more common from men, sex trafficking, lower salary, women are never save in the dark. Men like giving under undereducated opinions without bothering to talk the people going through these problems, and lastly that fragility regarding this topic you’re showing is also a privilege you as a man have… 🙃 The feeling of safety and compensation is the privilege we have, the patriarchal society we are currently are living in is made by men for men in mind. Just here to remind you that women are also conditioned and socialized growing up to have internal misogyny so although I completely understand what you’re saying it is inaccurate to say we are part of the problem or that we should know better seeing as it is patriarchy, sexism, and toxic masculinity that’s groomed us to subconsciously believe that we are less than our male counterparts. And I do agree I see women interviewers do what you’re saying too however rather than criticizing us, realize that the misogynistic socialization all women experience is so detrimental that it is apparent in even the smallest mannerisms, like asking a fellow woman a degrading question during an interview. ❤️

That's also a sexist consecuence. The thing is that we're suppossed to compete against ourselves, you know... for which reason it could be... That created a social role. And since it's part of our education, it's not so easy to "choose". We all say or do sexist things some time. The important thing is not who, but how to make it disappear as much as possible, reflecting and trying to become better and not repeat mistakes like these if you can (or so I believe). Though, it's not really like women are more sexist. Both men and women can be pretty cruel on this.

@chrisgreig982 жыл бұрын
@Oni I agree with the society beauty issue you mentioned, but by telling me to 'stop' and 'there's always that one guy' you instantly lose all credibility in this conversation. You acknowledge it happens to guys, but you don't do anything about it and talk about women struggling with it... And there lies the issue. You just instantly brushed it off and told me to stop, and said that women like Johansson get it worse. It's not about who gets it more, it's about stopping it doesn't happen to anyone, male or female. You're part of the problem if you're acting like women should be prioritised first for being protected from this, everyone should be.

@Oni Trust me, no one's gonna objectify me so I'm no victim and don't feel sorry for myself. I'm cool being a chunky boy who sits around eating pizza and ice cream. I'm not meaning to come across as some who hates women/feminists, I'm simply saying that it seems like you can't bring up when men experience it, because people will always say "Yeah men go through it, but women (insert argument here)..." That's where I get annoyed. It's like watching Law & Order SVU, it's a great show but it's 99% female victims, what about the men? People are quick to say "Yeah it happens, but men don't come forward so they do more females so women can speak out in reality", so shouldn't we have more stuff so men CAN come forward and speak out? It just seems like the world caters to women when it comes to this stuff, surely you can agree with my point here?

@Anna Niedziela depends. If he did indeed ask the other guy if he wore undergarments (note this and not underwear) isnt that fair? Because that's what does seemed to have happened. Dont get me wrong, she probably does face sexism and I'm not saying it's right. However, in this particular instance, could it be possible she's overreacting? I think reasonably so. Or maybe not. Then again, to wonder how on earth does one fit I to a skinny suit, can that not be a rational question? What if, the interviewer was indeed asking an innocent legitimate question? Are we not hasty to cast him in the light of sexism? Thus I say, let us not so quickly refrain to ideas and feeling or hate or disgust. If he was indeed sexist, then so shall it be. If he wasnt sexist, then so shall it be also. But what shall not be? Quick and thorough judgment without a proper investigation. At least for this individual alone.

@@Dean-ft6qgmaybe she didnt overreact. But I think it's a bit quick to say for that specific segment at 4:14 It appears to be indicated that the interviewer did ask Hawkeye if he wore undergarments, but that the interviewer confirmed that he didnt ask what kind of underwear he was wearing. You see. The original question was did you wear undergarments under the suit. To do you wear underwear under the suit. To what kind of underwear do you wear. The second and third of which was stipulated by johanson herself. What does this indicate? Of course, based on that segment alone. Once again, I dont doubt she faces a lot of sexism. This world is sexist. But being overly defensive and backarched is also a thing and should be acknowledged just as much. Two sides to a coin. That's like asking what's your name to a female? She replies by saying, why you wanna date me? He says, no, I just want to be friendly She says, no you just wanna get in side my pants. Comon guys, is it really impossible to ask an logical non perverted question?

@@bond3161 uhh no, the question referring to either Black Widow or Hawkeye is inappropriate. That question wasn’t appropriate, to ask in the first place. So they can be like omg did you know Hawkeye isn’t wearing anything under omg that’s so fucking hot, or the same with Black Widow. That’s creepy and isn’t appropriate. Your example is overreacting because being upset someone asked you about your underwear, is different then assuming someone want to say you cause they said hi. The interviewer did ask what undergarments she wore, rephrasing isn’t misinterpreting. Yea I agree, why is it so hard to make interesting and appropriate questions? The “written off as the sexy one” question is so dumb. The majority of the cast are conventionally attractive to both genders. Just because you sexualize one person doesn’t mean they don’t have any value and don’t deserve any depth beyond appearance. That’s beyond the most disgusting thing I’ve ever heard. Kudos to Johansson for keeping her cool because I wouldnt have stood for that shit.

To be fair, that was not his question. He was building up to something like "Obviously your character COULD HAVE BEEN written off as the sexy one but..." Maybe he was trying to say "but you ended up being the emotional core of the team. How do you feel about that?" But I agree it's a dumb way to preface a question and an even dumber phrasing to use with a female celebrity. In fact, the question didn't even need a preface. He could simply have asked the second part. "How do you feel about being the emotional core of the team?" or whatever he was going to ask.

Damn, fair point, IKR. They could've asked a question like: "Considering your character's backstory being treated like a machine or tool, and now, how your character has gone so far in character development, now free from the past. How would you see this as a women empowering aspect? Considering women from the past was also treated as such, with little to no freedom of how they should act in the society, plus the feeling of pressure to be or act as a "standard" women set by society back then?" Idk

She feels uncomfortable but the reason why she is being asked those questions is because it usually appeals to women. Its not random or to offend her.
