I don't even watch Marvel movies and even I understand the Black Widow character is really interesting, psychologically, politically, as a personality, as her own character etc. It's a shame that most people don't see that, because she also happens to be a woman. Her beauty is kind of part of her skillset, she has been conditioned to use it throughout her career, but that's certainly not all she is. Just here to remind you that women are also conditioned and socialized growing up to have internal misogyny so although I completely understand what you’re saying it is inaccurate to say we are part of the problem or that we should know better seeing as it is patriarchy, sexism, and toxic masculinity that’s groomed us to subconsciously believe that we are less than our male counterparts. And I do agree I see women interviewers do what you’re saying too however rather than criticizing us, realize that the misogynistic socialization all women experience is so detrimental that it is apparent in even the smallest mannerisms, like asking a fellow woman a degrading question during an interview. ❤️

That's also a sexist consecuence. The thing is that we're suppossed to compete against ourselves, you know... for which reason it could be... That created a social role. And since it's part of our education, it's not so easy to "choose". We all say or do sexist things some time. The important thing is not who, but how to make it disappear as much as possible, reflecting and trying to become better and not repeat mistakes like these if you can (or so I believe). Though, it's not really like women are more sexist. Both men and women can be pretty cruel on this.

@Anna Niedziela depends. If he did indeed ask the other guy if he wore undergarments (note this and not underwear) isnt that fair? Because that's what does seemed to have happened. Dont get me wrong, she probably does face sexism and I'm not saying it's right. However, in this particular instance, could it be possible she's overreacting? I think reasonably so. Or maybe not. Then again, to wonder how on earth does one fit I to a skinny suit, can that not be a rational question? What if, the interviewer was indeed asking an innocent legitimate question? Are we not hasty to cast him in the light of sexism? Thus I say, let us not so quickly refrain to ideas and feeling or hate or disgust. If he was indeed sexist, then so shall it be. If he wasnt sexist, then so shall it be also. But what shall not be? Quick and thorough judgment without a proper investigation. At least for this individual alone.

@@Dean-ft6qgmaybe she didnt overreact. But I think it's a bit quick to say for that specific segment at 4:14 It appears to be indicated that the interviewer did ask Hawkeye if he wore undergarments, but that the interviewer confirmed that he didnt ask what kind of underwear he was wearing. You see. The original question was did you wear undergarments under the suit. To do you wear underwear under the suit. To what kind of underwear do you wear. The second and third of which was stipulated by johanson herself. What does this indicate? Of course, based on that segment alone. Once again, I dont doubt she faces a lot of sexism. This world is sexist. But being overly defensive and backarched is also a thing and should be acknowledged just as much. Two sides to a coin. That's like asking what's your name to a female? She replies by saying, why you wanna date me? He says, no, I just want to be friendly She says, no you just wanna get in side my pants. Comon guys, is it really impossible to ask an logical non perverted question?

@@bond3161 uhh no, the question referring to either Black Widow or Hawkeye is inappropriate. That question wasn’t appropriate, to ask in the first place. Wether a guy or girl, what someone wears under a costume is just pandering to the horny audience. So they can be like omg did you know Hawkeye isn’t wearing anything under omg that’s so fucking hot, or the same with Black Widow. That’s creepy and isn’t appropriate. Your example is overreacting because being upset someone asked you about your underwear, is different then assuming someone want to say you cause they said hi. The interviewer did ask what undergarments she wore, rephrasing isn’t misinterpreting. Yea I agree, why is it so hard to make interesting and appropriate questions? Questions that I would have for Scarlett if I was given the chance to interview her: 1. How many hours of martial arts training and which styles in particular did you need to take to prepare you for the fight scenes? 2. How many injuries did you sustain during filming considering most of your fights were more acrobatic in nature than the other actors? 3. How much did you know about the Blackwidow character from the comics before you decided to play it? 4. Was there any particular scene that was cut that you felt should have been included in any of the Avenger movies and if so which one & why?

You'd take offence at these questions? Talk show hosts are comedians for 1. The fashion question was a ridiculous reason to get annoyed, she's making it that only women care about fashion, men are just as proud and bothered about how they look.. the underwear question started off straight forward, just curiosity, and then she made it about what kind of underwear it was. He never said that,, and he said he'd asked the guy the same question. She twisted his words knowing he was worried when she started questioning him and he tried to explain he didn't mean it that way. But she ignored him because she was enjoying ripping him to bits and watching him be uncomfortable. She knew he couldn't say anything back because then he's in the "bullying women" trap.. I'm all for powerful women speaking up, but she took everything as a dig at her. Massive chip on her shoulder. And if she was that bothered about it, why would she take a dumb job where she's a silly super hero in a tight suit, which men also wear in these movies btw. She ran with this for her "girl power" speech for this kind of attention. I used to like her too. This was over the top using her celebrity status to shoot her mouth off . Sad
