Come on now! I work in a special needs classroom and this is unacceptable! That school needs to do better. Period!!!

Somebody at that school or maybe a couple of people need to be charged with child neglect & child endangerment.

This is the exact thing that happened to my nephew when he was 9 years old. He to is on the spectrum, and he did the exact same thing from Lavaland elementary school in Albuquerque. He is now 16, but when this happened to him, it never made the news, and no one from the school went to look for him. We, the family, had to. From Coors and Fortuna area all the way to near the Blake's on Central and Atrisco. That is crazy far and dangerous. These schools have no idea how to handle these wonderful kids.

i think when autism day happens in feburary i think its important for many parents and teens with autism to come up to the round house and talk about the school situation is. i think its important

@rbrtpongo that is actually a great idea. My nephew is a wise soul but if you are not around them 24/7, there is no way anyone could understand the patience and attention and understanding it takes to spend time with them. They do need special teachers who are given respite care themselves.

I don’t know how in the hell, in this day and age that could happen. Even back when I were a kid, (and yes I was in Special Ed). Our classrooms had no more then 12 student. And each classes, had a teacher aid in them. If a child had to use a bathroom or go somewhere, the teacher aid would take us. Don’t they do that have them anymore? She could had run after him. While the teacher kept the others in the classroom.
